Doris Day only had a contract for a 5 year series 1968-73 which was completed.

Based on these articles, it sounds like it was a mutual decision to end the show. The Doris Day Show had apparently dropped in the ratings and CBS wouldn't have continued it even if Doris had wanted to.

I know it's been reported she only had a five-year contract, but piecing to together some old articles I've read, it sounds like her contract may have been for six years and for the last they let her do a specials instead of the series.
