As expected when my electronic program guide last week started showing episode descriptions that didn't match what actual Phyllis episode was shown on ALN, Today Monday, February 1, 2010, they ran episode #24, completely skipping over #22 and #23......half way there in getting the entire 48 episode run and they mess it up...I checked and the unplayed now missing episodes are not scheduled in the near future. I am going to look into this for others as well as myself who are recording these.....will report back if I get any reasonable answer.

What a shame,I hate when that happens,The Family Channel in the UK,showed all of season1,then the very last episode, then the rest of season2 but missed out "Mother Dexter's Wedding" and "Mother Dexter Cohabitates".
Episode 22 is "Sonny Boy",Dick O'Neill is Jonathan's brother, hopeless with money,Mother Dexter, works at a fast food place with him,I had it and taped over it by accident,it is funny, they wear a real hot dog on their hats in the diner.
Episode 23 is "Widows,Merry and Otherwise" with guest star,Linda Lavin,as a togethor widow,I don't have that one either but its a good episode.

Got an official answer as to why episodes #22 & #23 and another to be determined will never be shown on ALN. A repesentative from ALN said there are rights issues and have been redrawn from the syndication package. I really find this answer hard to believe, since I have never heard of rights regarding syndication airings, only new media such as DVD. Linda Lavin does appear in episode #23. So for you recorders out there trying to get a complete 48 episode set, it will sadly not happen.

Season two started today, Tuesday, February 2, 2010 and John Ritter is a guest star in Episode #25 "The New Job" the second season episode started with the cold opening before the opening theme song......looks like my set will now have to have a disclaimer....lol.....

As long as they show Mother Dexter's Wedding ep I'll be happy with what I can get. To me she really made the show.

Thats disappointing! Especially a Mother Dexter episode! I would love to see her working in a fast-food restaurant.

I have both the episodes(22 and 23) but sadly the sound quality is so bad, theres no way I'd give it to anyone else, bad enough for me to hear but the one in the fast food place is funny,Mother Dexter playing favourite to her loser son,Sonny over Jonathan.
We just need this show on DVD soon!
I did have a good copy of the diner one but taped over it by accident, years ago.

Totally agree,John Ritter is very funny in it,shame he only did one episode.
The actors who played Dan and Leonard, play different parts in season1,the actor playing Dan is in "Phyllis' Garage Sale" and the actor playing Leonard is in the one, where Bess moves into an apartment ,on her own.
The guy who was Goofer on "The Love Boat" is in the Gararge sale, episode too.

Yes as previously mentioned I even saw Loni Anderson (as a model) in the season 1 episode #8 titled "The First Date" and of course Mary Tyler Moore appears in the second season episode #26 "You're Not Getting Any Better, Just Older"

That is an absolute shame that they skipped "Mother Dexter's Wedding" because, not only is is the best episode of the series, but one of the funniest episodes I have ever seen from ANY series. That one had me in stitches from start to finish. SOOO hilarious!

Yes after showing the final episode of season1,they showed the very last episode,I was totally confused,Phyllis' new hair style, new job,Bess married then they showed the first episode of season2 that explained a lot.
I got the complete set of Phyllis on vhs from the US a few years ago, sound on them is mostly awful but at least I got to see the two part Mother Dexter's Wedding, which has some of the funniest moments of the entire series.

I got ALN this week and have been recording (DVR) PHYLLIS each morning. Can someone tell me which ep should air Monday Feb 15 (ep #) so I know how far along we are? Can someone also tell me which # is the wedding ep, so I'm sure not to miss it! ?

Thanks...

Hi Friend,

If they stay on schedule, The famous Ep #34 Mother Dexter Cohabitates should air on 2/15/10 followed by Ep #35 Mother Dexter's Wedding" on 2/16/10. So they are nearing the end of the series run, as it ran two seasons totaling 48 episodes.

BTW...Sadly I had to stop recording the series, because my cable company can't seem to stop the endless freezing or titling blocking which occurs with digital TV sometimes. I would rather not have the series with imperfections, I complained endlessly, but to no avail, the channel on my system is plagued with problems.

Thank you so much! I guess I got FiOS just in time (well sort of...in time for the wedding, but it's the end of the run). Do you know if ALN plans on restarting the series once S2 ends?

What do you mean by freezing and tilting blocking?

Yes I can see ALN running Phyllis and Rhoda for at least a year, they don't change their schedule very often...they are getting rid of the friday airings in March, but that's it....I'm sure you will get another complete run of Phyllis...

as for freezing and tiling blocking, it is a common problem with cable companies (mine more than others) that the picture or audio distorts, it happens because of the digital signal......it's kinda like when before cable & all television signals were analog and you needed a TV attenna to get the best picture, when you got a bad picture the term was a snowy picture....Cable television was all analog until about 5 years ago when analog signals started to switch to digital, the same thing can happen if you have a dirty or scratched DVD and the picture will freeze or lock-up. Then of course in june of 2009, all television stations were converted to digital signals and analog signals were shut down. Hope that makes sense....my best and enjoy watching the shows on FIOS.

Again, thank you so much.

I did have digital cable for the past few years. Some relatives of mine switched to FiOS, and convinced me to do the same this past Christmas. My phone company (Verizon) was offering an incredible deal for a bundle package (phone, TV, internet) if I signed up in February so I did it ($89/mo). I have to say - I'm much happier with FiOs then I was with DC. The quality, the choices, etc - much better than digital.

If anyone has a chance to switch to FiOS, I do recommend it. I don't think you'll be sorry!
