See you later, John O’Hurley. It’s time to play Family Feud…with Steve Harvey. The comedian, and best-selling author, has signed on to replace O’Hurley as host of the syndicated game show Family Feud. (O’Hurley, who will now be seen in the touring production of Chicago, served as host for four seasons.) Harvey, the sixth host of the franchise, will begin his new post this fall.

Now that's a surprise. i thought John O'Hurley did an outstanding job as host, even better than Louie Anderson and Richard Karn. Hopefully, Steve Harvey will do really well in his first game show stint.

Should be interesting!! I rather liked both John O'Hurley and Richard Karn as hosts, but in my book NO ONE can top Richard Dawson. On a somehat unrelated note, I wish someone would bring back Pyramid and The Weakest Link!!

Anyway, best wishes to Mr. Harvey. I think he'll do just fine.

I always liked Ray Coombs (who sadly committed suicide) as host of this show. I also like John O'Hurley. But as Monika said no one was better than the original host Richard Dawson. That being said I'm anxious to see how Steve Harvey will do as host since I'm a fan of his.

I enjoy Family Feud regardless of the host -- although I really liked Richard Karn.

However I think Steve Harvey will do a terrific job. The new shows this Fall will be interesting to watch.

...that, after four years, O'Hurley "wore out his welcome", and the producers (and distributor) wanted someone younger and "hipper" as emcee- hence, Steve Harvey. Whether he fulfills their expectations depends on how well he interacts with the families and how well he understands the game. Harvey has proven himself a good host, but "FAMILY FEUD" works best with those who are 'comfortable" with the format (and viewers, in turn, just as comfortable with the host). No one could "touch" Dawson when it came to a smooth presentation, but Coombs, Karn and O'Hurley came close. Louie Anderson was good, and the weekly summer 2008 NBC celebrity version with Al Roker {he was chosen because the network wanted him to front the game, since he's one of their best-known personalities} was...okay, but he's a better weather forecaster than a game show emcee.

We'll see how Steve does in the fall!

Actually, NBC wanted O'Hurley all along, but he was under contract to CBS to host a reality show (the one episode flop Secret Talents of the Stars).

I'm certainly glad you told me about this, 'glickmam'. O'Hurley would have done a better job on NBC in the summer of '08 than Roker did {darn those "exclusive contracts"!!}. Sure, if the network couldn't get their first choice, let's have Billy Bush act as emcee ["WHAT??? Are you forgetting that horrendous job he did for us on 'LET'S MAKE A DEAL' a few years ago???"/"Oh, yeah, I forgot...'/"So did the audience- that's why it was a flop after three weeks!!!!"/"Well, let's get Al Roker- he's a good personality, and since he works for us, he's cheaper!"/"Agreed!!! Now, let's have that humongous lunch at Musso & Frank's..."/"But they're in Los Angeles!!"/"So what? We'll just chalk it up to...er, 'follow-up network research'. We'll use the company jet! Who's gonna know?"].

Hmm...I wonder how this will affect Steve Harvey's morning show? He sure does keep busy. Well, good for him.

O'Hurley, IMO, was the best FF host since Richard Dawson. I figured they finally got someone who would stay on. But Steve Harvey has hosting and improv experience, so he should work out fine as host of FF. Wonder if they're keeping the car and the Bullseye round?
