I saw this one unsolved mystery on tv and believe it could have been on UM. It is that the only one that keeps coming back to my mind once in a while... but I can't remember the person's name that is missing. It goes something like this...

A man with many friends, educated, with a family, who has made a lot of money in the computer field (computer programming), and has been known to be of sound mind throughout his life. At some point in his 30's he started showing a great interest in extraterrestrial life and communications with it. He had some theory, which he was convinced of, that he can somehow communicate with this ET life and he was saying to others that he has almost perfected this technique and was ready to communicate. Before his disapearance, he also mentioned to some co-workers at his company that if he ever told them that he was leaving for a long period, it meant that he was in trouble somehow. One day, a call was recieved at the 911 center in which a man introduced himself with his middle name of Jeffery (if I remember correctly), along with his first and last name, (which I can't remember). The middle name stood out because his family members say he never stated his middle name to anyone. He said he was going on some long trip, he was calling from his 4x4 truck or minivan. The call is actually recorded. Then he hang up and both him and his car have not ever been found since.

I found this disapearance memeorable because the man was portrayed by everyone as highly intelligent, successful, mentally stable, not one to get fanatical or crazy, etc. I would greatly appreciate any or some information on this disapearance. This was possible not shown on UM but anohter investigative show like Investigative Reports.

Thanks.

Yes, I remember that segment. The man was former Iron Butterfly bassist Philip "Taylor" Kramer. Tragically, his remains were discovered in a canyon in 1999. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/frown.gif

Well, it is believed that he may have run off the road and wound up in the canyon (either by accident or suicide). But some suspect foul play. In any case, the true circumstances are unknown.

However, it was determined that the van had been in the canyon for all the time Kramer and the van were missing (four years)! There were so many trees and so much density in the canyon that a passerby would probably need X-ray vision (similar to Superman's) to notice the van.

Ok, thanks for your replies. However, I know I saw this show no later than winter 2000 or early 2001, and in it they said they still didn't know his whereabouts, although they had a lot of theories. I hope you're referring to the same show I am. Thanks again.
