....why Pamela appeared in an English pantomime of "Aladdin" (as "The Genie") during the Christmas holiday season. I read about this in the NEW YORK TIMES; apparently, some British producers pay certain American stars a handsome fee to participate in these pantomimes [Julie Andrews perfectly described what they are in her autobiography, "Home"; basically, they're "classic" renditions of fairy tales, featuring established comedians doing their "schtick" in character, a beautiful actress in a "male role", interpolated songs and comedy routines that sometimes have very little to do with the story, and encouraged reactions from the audience...and "special guest performers", including Pamela].
