The only thing that would please me more is knowing the pilot will be included as an extra for season 2. If its not on season 2 or 3, that would be a BIG disapointment!

That would be nice, but I read on the Shout! message board that Shout! wanted to include the pilot on the Season One set, but there is a rights issue with Fox/MGM and they couldn't get the necessary clearance.

I've seen the pilot. Its alright-- but I won't be too disappointed if its not included.
I like to think of the pilot as a separate entity from the series for a couple of reasons:
There were different actors portraying the father and brother, I didn't like her short dark hairstyle, and it was only used to sell the series to the networks, and was never broadcast (However, parts of it were used in the last episode of the first season).
Maybe Nick at Nite showed it decades later???

I wonder if Shout is still actively pursuing the rights to the pilot or have they given up? Maybe I should post this question on Shout's message board.

Thats why its so interesting to see the original pilot, to see how it developed into the series. Leave it to Beaver has its original pilot on its dvd set, so does That Girl, both with different cast members.

Not a good picture of Cathy on this 2nd season box. Maybe they can change it and find a better picture before the boxes are printed.

I've read some concerns from people about the chances of music edits in the 2nd season set. I don't think that's going to be a problem, Patty Duke Show on DVD won't be like Gomer Pyle USMC where music edits ruined a number of episodes.

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they can change it.
Actually, I like the photo-- but they already used it on the season 1 cases.
I wonder if its hard to find color stills of Patty in character from the show.

Color photos from the series are incredibly rare. I own about 50 publicity and press photos from the series and like The Donna Reed Show, nice cast photos in color are hard to come by. I am surprised they did not go the same route as MPI did for Family Affair and just use the same cover art for all seasons with a different color background.

The "Patty" pic on this new cover art looks sort of grainy from what I can tell.

Still, it's the episodes that count most, and I'm grateful we're getting this show at all.

I was thinking this too. I do love the coverart they designed. But I wonder if color photos are scarce for this show. I must say I also love the colors they've chosen to designate Season 2.

There was this nice picture of Cathy that I saw online months ago where she wears a hot pink large headband, short brown hair curled inward, and a hot pink V-neck sweater sitting down with a shake shop sundae in front of her. The outfit was kind of loud though and was more suited for Patty. I wished they used that for the front cover of Season 2.

Here's a rare color photo of Patty taken on the bedroom set. I scanned this from a magazine, so the quality isn't the greatest.

The pilot is a nice curiousity to have......but it really doesn't flow with the rest of the series.

Or you can wait and hope it shows up on the Season Two or Season Three DVD sets.

For fans of the show it's must-see TV.
