I loved this show. Doug and Kate Lawrence reminded me of my parents and Buddy reminded me of myself in some ways before they adopted Annie. Buddy and I were both the babies of the family.

I also enjoyed that show and I wonder if it's showing anywhere. I'd like to see it again

I last saw "Family" about 10 years ago, when it was rerun by WWOR, the New York superstation. I like it, but Kate (the mother) is kind of aloof and holier-than-thou, so she gets on my nerves. I remember seeing it in the 70s on ABC, but didn't realize until I saw the WWOR reruns that Nancy, the oldest daughter, was played by a dark-haired actress other than Meredith Baxter-Birney in the early episodes. Weird.

Yeah I know, that blew my mind as well.
Elaine Heilveil was the name of the first Nancy. I think that was her last name. It's been awhile since I watched that show.

I wish TVLand would bring the the series on their station. I would tape every episode. It was one of my favorite dramas. A matter of fact it was Aaron Spelling's best series. The show featured very good actors and the chemistry was great. The storylines were powerful and it helped moved the show. If you watch 7th Heaven it is a updated version of Family with more 90's/2000's issues like Family dealing issues of the 70's. Unfortunately after the series ended Meredith Baxter Birney, who played Nancy, could have headlined a drama series. Instead she ended up with Family Ties, which by the way was a great series, only to have the show taken from under her by the emergence of Michael J. Fox. Again, as I stated in other postings Meredith Baxter Birney is an excellent dramatic actress. Sitcom actress NOT!!!!

I've been trying to collect all the episodes from this show. I have one tape with two episodes. I hope they get released on DVD, I'd buy all the seasons.

I loved the FAMILY DVD set, which includes the first 2 seasons. I even wrote to Sada Thompson after viewing it, and she wrote a very sweet note back to me. She wrote that she'd heard from so many people since the DVD release, and is so gratified that the show is still enjoyed by many. Now they need to get moving on releasing the next 3 seasons!!

That is so cool that Sada Thompson wrote back to you. I really hope they release the rest of the seasons. I would love to see the episode that Dinah Manoff was in, again. I believe it's called "Sleeping Gypsy"
There is another one I want to see again. It has to do with a bad dream that Kate had about driving a red car and hitting a child that ran out into the street after a ball.

I'm currently watching my Family DVDs again - I would so love to see Season 3 and beyond. Has anyone heard anything?
