Now that I am watching this again after several years, its cool to see these stars. Also the chief from Car 54 is in season one as well as a vacuum cleaner salesman.

Charles Nelson Reilly didn't even resemble himself. He reminds me of Wally Cox.

That's an interesting photo. It does look like Wally Cox. Where did you find it?

I love CNR on Match Game. He is hilarious!

I just googled Wally Cox...

OH Nuts!

I had totally no idea that David Doyle had appeared on Patty Duke. Besides his regular gig on Charlie's Angels as Bos, the only other thing I'd seen him on was a guest spot on Barney Miller.

I first remember seeing him on Bridget Loves Bernie, where he played Bridget's dad, Walt Fitzgerald.

It looks like a pic from Wally Cox in his Twilight Zone appearance, From Agnes With Love. Sue Randall, who had played Miss Landers on Leave It to Beaver, also appeared in that episode, her second and final appearance on that series.

You're right, but I've never seen that show. Wasn't Audra Lindley on that show, too?

OH Nuts!

And let's not forget Kay Ballard on the ep "The Perfect Teenager" (D#5 S#1 Shout)

Thanks for the screen caps. :)

I wonder if Cathy had any idea that just a couple of years later she would actually get the chance to meet Frankie Avalon.

Thats right, he made two guest appearances on this show.

She was. She played Bridget's mom and Walt's wife. I was only about 7 when BLB was on CBS, and David Doyle was the actor who stood out the most to me then.

BTW, I just came back to this forum because I've rediscovered this show on a new channel that I get w/ my newly-installed U-Verse. This show airs weekdays at 3:30 PM CT, and it is currently in shows midway through the 2nd season. In just the last couple weeks I've seen these actors among others:

Barney Martin (future Morty Seinfeld): played neighborhood grocer in 2 eps

George Gaynes (from Punky Brewster): played Chattanooga cousin Betsy Lane's dad (I'd expected to see William Schallert here, as I think he played Cathy's dad once.)

Jean Stapleton (future Edith Bunker): played woman running church bazaar

Marcia Strassman (future Julie Kotter): played a classmate of Patty's in the same ep as Jean Stapleton

It is most likely that these actors were based in NYC at the time, which is where this show was being filmed for seasons 1 & 2. I've also seen Jean Stapleton & Carroll O'Connor in a clip from the same ep of The Defenders, another show filmed in NYC.

Marcia Strassman (pictured before) was also in this episode.

Also, Susan Tyrell played Sue Ellen Turner in the dressmaking episode. She's the girl at the end taking orders for the "boyfriend" dresses.

Tyrell appeared in two of the '80s Angel exploitation flicks as Solly, the outrageous lesbian landlady, 1982's Night Warning with Jimmy McNicol & Julia Duffy and as Johnny Depp's aunt Ramona Ricketts in Cry-Baby.

It's funny. My boyfriend and I watched "Cry Baby" recently and I didn't even notice Susan Tyrell in that episode until I went back to re-watch it. That's a funny episode. I love when Patty makes cracks at how awful the dress looks on Cathy at first. "If you needed money to buy a new dress, why didn't you just ask me? I'd have loaned it to you."

Going back to David Doyle, I believe he could at least be called a "semi-regular" member of the cast, as he does return in the role of Richard's dad.

Wait until later in the series for the biggest name guests... I've watched in recent weeks episodes featuring Chad & Jeremy, Sammy Davis Jr., and Sal Mineo -- all from Season 2 if I'm not mistaken.

I can't wait to purchase Season 2. I love Sammy Davis Jr.

It's a funny episode. He plays himself, willing to do a show for Patty. IIRC, he performed "What Kind of Fool Am I" if I'm not mixing up my memory with some other appearance. Neat stuff!

You should watch for his appearances on The Rifleman, if you haven't seen them. Sammy showed his versatility by doing a nice job on a western.

I remember seeing this show in the early 1970's when it was in syndication. I used to call my dad Poppo. It is amazing to see stars in their early years.
