According to what I read, Cassidy was sick, and I can understand not being in a good mood when you're sick, but as mentioned maybe he should have cancelled. Also I have heard elsewhere that Cassidy is a jerk to his fans. I like the guy, but I dont think I would ever want to meet him.

Yeah, and author David Hofstede mentioned this on his Facebook page. He showed Mr. Cassidy absolutely no mercy.

I was amused at first by reports of David Cassidy's diva meltdown at a Hollywood autograph show, but didn't think it was as funny after reading about how some fans flew in from as far away as Australia to get their memorabilia signed, only to witness Cassidy refuse to sign any Partridge-related item, then storm out less than one hour into his scheduled 3-hour commitment.

This is why I don't go out of my way to meet celebrities, especially those who really meant something to me when I was younger. Most of the ones I have met I have found to be gracious, or at the very least professional, but I've also encountered some with a reputation for nastiness, one I found to be well-earned.

There's no excuse for Cassidy's behavior, and I feel sorry for the fans who idolized him and are now burning their "Sound Magazine" LPs. I get being bitter about having to constantly discuss something you finished 35 years ago, and remembering every time someone shoves a Partridge lunch box under your mug how you never got a cut of the merchandising while Screen Gems made a mint off your image, but if you agree to appear at an event like this, man up, get over yourself and come on, get happy!

It doesn't matter if David wasn't feeling well or not. He shouldn't have been such a jackass to his fans. I used to admire Melissa Gilbert but after the way she was so snobby at an event I went to, I have feelings of resentment toward her. I've posted the whole thing elsewhere on this board, so I don't want to repeat the whole story.

The point is that if I go out of my way to meet a celebrity and they turn out to be jerks, it really ruins my opinion of them. Doesn't matter if they are genuinely nice or not.

I love Harry Connick Jr and when I saw him after his concert in Vancouver in 2007, the only thing I could think of to say to him was that our birthdays are four days apart. That is the LAMEST thing I'm sure anyone's ever said to him (his REAL fans, I mean. Not those people who insist on insulting him over that TV show incident). His response was "You're a Virgo!" I mean, if he had rolled his eyes or said something rude, I would have lost all respect for him. Instead he made it a point to be nice to me, even though I know he was exhasted from doing a two hour concert on a hot stage in the middle of summer.

Some celebrities don't understand that if you are rude to a fan, they remember it for life and will probably end up telling others about their experience. Even if the celebrity is rich, I'm sure they don't want to be known as a jackass around their fans.

Exactly. Just stay home and don't take the fans' money if you don't want to associate with them. If it wasn't for the fans, he wouldn't be where he is. :mad: :mad: :mad:

If he keeps that behavior up, nobody will show up anymore. He'll be sitting at a table alone. He's fortunate that people still care, after all these years. It's not as if he's on a hit show or is a big film star. It's The Partridge Family that gave him his fame.
