ANY Nicktoon they EVER had besides Rugrats was horrible, IMO. I hated Ren & Stimpy and Rocko and And Ahh! Real Monsters... they were all REALLY nasty. Rugrats gets nasty at times (who the heck told them to give Dil snot bubbles? That is so gross), but not half as bad as the others. Wild Thornberries and As Told By Ginger and Doug are clean--what I've seen of them, anyway--but they get on my nerves. Spongebob sucks too. And (not a nicktoon) Pokemon and Digimon and all that other anime stuff is horrible. I hate it...
------------------
"I do like the show.... It's fun to do. I like the character of Charity because she's so hopeful. She's never bitter. There's plenty of things that happen to her that could make her bitter. But she always thinks tomorrow's going to be beautiful. And someday it will be."
- Gwen Verdon
"The advertisements for the show say 'Gwen Verdon as Sweet Charity.' Note that as 'as.' Not 'starring in' or just plain 'in' or even 'in the new musical,' but 'as.' She is that girl. She is Sweet Charity and forever will be."
- Charles Burr

I seem to be very alone in my opinion that Rugrats is a worthless piece of crap. I can't belive how popular it is. The characters are annoying and are upsetting to look at. Very disturbing animation, I think. I don't know what it is about this show that the general masses seem so attracted to. Well, I guess to each his own.

I do agreed Nick deep sixed the good ones of the past like Pinwheel and Out of Control. The ones I hate is on Cartoon Network Dexter Labortory and The Powder Puffs Girls because Dexter's sister DeeDee is so anoying and the Powder Puffs Girls are that and too evil.

1. Cow and Chicken
2. Punky Brewster
3. AS Told By Ginger
My question is...
Why aren't these shows off the air yet? They are boring timewasters. I hate their theme songs too. ALso, any thing that is Pokemon really sucks.
1.Cow and Chicken is very boring
2.Punky Brewster is also a very boring cartoon
3.As told By Ginger is atrocious because it revolves around a very picky girl who is very ugly.
If I were president of Nick At Nite, I would start NAN one half hour early and instead of two episodes, I would throw in a third. plus, I would get rid of voice overs!=)
This just into the Cubs newsroom, Ginger is an ugly so and so. Why/ Her glasses and her braces and I would rather see The Hogan Family re runs or at least My Little pony re runs. Harry Carey's glasses kick far more bums than Ginger's.

Responding to others:
Personally, I enjoy Pokemon very much as a well-executed comedy cartoon with action elements. Gotta keep watching now especially as the fad is starting to fade. :)
I personally don't watch Nick for cartoons (I did when Charlie Brown and Garfield were on, however!) so I can't comment on those.
Onto the three worst:
But, South Park is a travesty. Cow & Chicken isn't funny either. I also dislike anything on Adult Swim.

Everyone has their own opinions and such, that is what makes us all 'human'... :)
But I would have to say my opinion is any cartoon that has the ghaul, and need even to have it's creator's make a movie for it, throw it all over the world, and then surely get children to BEG their parent's to go to it is by far the worst...
I mean, for each kid out there who may even remotely like the 'mess' the creator's are getting twice and sometimes even triple the billing...
Little Tommy wants to go see the new cartoon movie, but is just 6...well, now mom or dad or both have to go with him, thus triple billing.
That is why I say any cartton low enough to try and swindle money out of hard working parent's are by far the worst...
Some of these include, well any cartoon made into a movie really (Not live action movie, that at least takes some effort, I am talking cartoon movies, movies we sit at home we could watch by watching the cartoon a few times...) Anyway some are...
#1 powerpuff girls (blahhhh)
#2 hey arnold the movie (blahhh again)
#3 rug rats ( *throws up even by being disgusted*)
Any cartoon that 'needs' extra billing and an extra 'income' to stay afloat such as those are by far the worst cartoons ever.
That is my opinion, anyway...

ll of which are boring. The Honeymooners might have 39 shows, but all of them were works of art! My real point is this: WOuld you rather impersonate pretty Ginger crying or impersonating Art Carney? I love my Art Carney. In fact the Honeymooners will be on in a few hours here in CHicago.

I am sick and tired of hearing about shows not being aired. Some reasons are because of station format change, teen chick shows, etc. I will not tolerate this freaking bullcrap anymore! I will tell you what, if I do not see any good, old fashioned television shows by August 1st., I will watch less television, call T.V. stations personally and argue and induce them to do the right things, try to get stars like Sandy Duncan, Jeremy Licht, etc. to create campaigns to get these shows back on our tubes. I remember, when I was brought into the world, I would watch NBC every weekday to watch Bill Cosby, Jeremy Licht, etc. I remember having friends and family over to watch Balki Bartokomous and Larry on Perfect Strangers. Also, Howard Hessmann on Head Of The Class. Does anyone remember the good old days when there were no Olsen Twins, no freakin' TRL, no such thing as boy bands? Well guess what? We are going to work hard, do all the work and be the most decent TV fans ever! I have been battling high tides and lots more for over a year. Now, before I end, here is my plan. If none of this works, I will be busy trying to round up people and stuff to discuss where our good old days are. Let's show these stations who is boss. Thanks for your time in reading this great piece of reply.

Nick's gone downhill in the last decade. I DO NOT blame the ORIGINAL Nicktoons or the 1st new one after that (Rocko). The four of them were all good. It's the recent ones, all that crap they show the little ones on Nick Jr, and other stuff.
Hey, Nick Execs, I got an idea. you wanna show the little ones something that;s education and fun. Show them Pinwheel and Double Dare! You wanna keep the older ones happy, show stuff liek You Can't...., Clarissa, and other stuff...
Anybody remember the era of the Nick Game Show?
All this stuff was the golden age. Not this mindless dribble they show today.
And just when you thought I was done..not yet..
Nick at Nite.
Remember the days where you could tune into nick at nite for good old classic programming, not many commercials, and few edits and skips in episodes.

My non-ranting picks for the three-worst animated cartoon series of all time are...
3. The Care Bears. Jesus, Joseph and Mary, I hated that program. YUK!
2. Doug. Talk about insipid. Yeesh!
And now, my number-one pick for the WORST animated cartoon series of all-time IS....
1. Capital Critters. Do you remember "Capital Critters?" I do, to my eternal regret...this show was, without exception, the single worst waste of ink and paint in the history of animation!!
Whew! Glad I got that off my chest! I feel a whole lot better, now. Thanks for listening, folks.

Man, this is a toughie!
My top three most hated cartoons are:
1). Most Nicktoons post-Angry Beavers (save for As Told By Ginger, Spongebob, only b/c it appeals to most younger kids these days, the pre-Dil eps. of The Rugrats and Hey Arnold), which I thought was the last decent Nick Toon, especially The Wild Thorn Berrys (God I really feel sorry for Debbie, having to be in that butt ugly ass, bucktoothed family), which started the whole trend of sucky Nick Toons on the airwaves.
2). Does anyone remember that show called Cardcaptors? That was the 2nd worst Kids WB show, next to Detention (remember that dreaful Recess rip-off dreck, save for Charlotte Rae, who I thought was the only person on that cartoon who was funny!)
3). The absolute worst is the majority of crap on Cartoon Network nowadays, save for a few shows that aired on or used to air on the WB and Dexter's Lab, PPG, Courage, T&J, and the other old cartoons that used to be on CN, before the wave of crappy anime.
Dishonorable mention:
Mortal Kombat, the animated series
Digimon (especially that god damn theme song! )
Cardcaptors
Good, luck and good rittens!

Cartoons made from videogames... I hate those cartoons.. Sonic,Mortal Kombat & Mario comes to mind. In Mario, they still even made the stupid video game sound when Mario or Luigi jumped or went down a pipe LOL!

I don't know if any of you have this station, but, almost anything on Boomerang network stinks.
Mr. T Cartoon
Gary Coleman cartoon
Alvin & the chipmunks
Glad to see that this hread is sitll open.
TOo bad that the "latest" limit for Boom! couldn't have been, say, 1980.
I hated all three of the shows you mention with a passion.
However, I might enjoy the original lives ones of the first two and the 1961-1965 ALVIN SHOW version of ALVIN AND THE CHI(PMUNKS.Especially that 1961-65 orig.of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS, claled simply bakc then THE ALVIN SHOW.
That was the great (as if the NEW verison was something to shout about) original, by UPA studio offshoot Format Films (with jack Kinmney Productions of POPEYE notoriety, JK himself, being Jack Kinney though, of Donald Duck fame).
It looked a lt like a UPA/Jay Ward show in style and its sound effects (like a tinkling, long, clockwork sound>)
The 1961-1962 ALVIN SHOW wass very funny...it had Prof. Clyde Crashcup, the inventor of "I invented this..I invneted that" infamy, whose gimmick was he would not just draw things (a la the childrens book character HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON and the Terrytoons studio GASTON LE CRAYON) that came to life and invent alreayd existing things..amusement parks (CLYDE CRASHCUPLAND), the wife (CLYDE CRASHCUP INVENTES THE WIFE), shoes (CLYDE INVENTS..well you get the idea.Title was as teling as a FRIENDS single epsidoe title.).
First there was.. Alvin, Theodore and Simon,l whow ere NOTHING AT ALL like their 1980s Alvin and the Chipmunsk coutnerpoints! A woman so square she ONLY loved CLASSICAL or Lawrence Welk arrangements, Mrs.Frumpington (voiced by either Lee patrick of the 1950s TOPPER series or voice vet June Foray(ROCKY) depnding on whom you consult-both listed in credits.) and a dragon voiced by lesser third stooge Joe :"Nawt so Saaaast" Besser (1907-1988) showed up from time to time. Sam Valiant (voiced,as were our hero and his chipmunk family and mentor Seville,by creator and show songwriter Ross Bagdasarian (1920-1972)), a slick salesman.
ALSO..
it had Prof. Clyde Crashcup, the inventor of "I invented this..I invneted that" infamy, whose gimmick was he would not just draw things (a la the childrens book character HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON and the Terrytoons studio GASTON LE CRAYON) that came to life and invent alreayd existing things..amusement parks (CLYDE CRASHCUPLAND), the wife (CLYDE CRASHCUP INVENTES THE WIFE), shoes (CLYDE INVENTS..well you get the idea.Title was as teling as a FRIENDS single episode title.).
They did a full 7 mintue show and two shorter music videos.
His little pal was his able asistant Leonardo, his bald friend with glasses who'd communicate to Clyde only with a whisper.
When he drew things as mentioned, the aforementioned "clockwork" sound effect sounded off. His voice wasinspired by,not done by, British character radio/movie character actor Richard Haydn (1905-1985) (his character "Prof.Edwin Carp") but done by fellow radio/flick character actor Shep Menken (1921-1999), a veteran of UPA cartoons (there! another UPA connection) and of TV's I LOVE LUCY (and a voice of Westsern Airlines Calif. little aniamted bird, resting on a airplane tail.."Ah...Western Airlines. The ONLY wya to Fly".)
The theme song was great too. The Alvin show..The Alvin show..you're postiviely gonna love the ALVIN show..ther'es Dave Seville, and why what's more..ther'es ...a silly chipmunk (?) called theodore..and now you see on camera three, a sbrother known as Simon on the family tree. And now here is the star of our show. Alvin Alvin..(instruemntal) and now get ready here we go it's the Alvin show,..'
(Sung by the Johnny Mann Singers)
Now the EIGHTIES one, stunk. David Seville was a lumpy dad..the Chipmunkswerre tiehr too perfect or too rambunctious depending on whom you ask. No Clyde Crashcup!! These new additions-0the Chippettes! Playedworst of all(and this incenced the creator of Ren and Stimpy)-THE SHOW WAS DANG PLAYED COMPELTELY AND TRULYS TRAIGHT!!

Does anyone remember that show called Cardcaptors? That was the 2nd worst Kids WB show, next to Detention (
Actually, the original anime "Cardcaptor Sakura" was one of the best animes of its time, unfortunately, in order to make it "Suitable for American boys" they cut out the first 7 eps ( in order to bring in LI Shaoran ( the lead male ) in during the "first" < actually 8th episode ). Then they took out almost all the "love stories" and references to Japan....basically they butchered the poor show, THEN only released about half the episodes in the first season..., and in a random order; This show was a SERIAL, it HAS to be shown in order to make any sense!!!

1. Powderpuff Girls
2. Pokemon
3. The Smurfs
The last new episode of THE SMURFS aired way back on Sept. 1, 1990, so I
wouldn't classify it as one of "today's cartoons." (For what it's worth, that
show ran for nine seasons so I'm guessing a lot of people must have liked it.)
Premiering on Sept. 12, 1981, the Hanna-Barbera show was based on a French comic strip that made its debut in 1957!

I used to love to look at Thunderhawks afterschool:D Thunder Thunder Thunder Thundercats! Those were the days. Sometimes I watch thundercats online at nostalgiamanila.com. They have great 60's, 70's, and 80's cartoons

it occured to me though the animation of thundercats as a show, didn't flow as well as it did during the main title sequence

i'm with you on this. the 80s was the decade when cartoons were at its prime. there were so many excellent cartoons out then. better than the crap toons that are out today. the 90s were good too but in comparison to the 80s was no match for thundercats, jase and the wheeled warriors, galaxy high. galaxy rangers etc
You trying to use 80s standards to judge 1940s-60s shorts? ANimaniacs, TIny Toons Care Bores :D and Smurfs (June Foray voiced THIS????) were the worst (or, as Jimmy Durante would say, Dey was dah WOIST! AHchacha!:p ).
Ah but to each his/her own taste.;)

not neccessarily, but i base my opinion on the number of cartoons that came out in the 80s, of which there were so many and so many of them were a lot of fun to watch. i am an 80s kid at heart and was born in that decade and so you could argue that i am being biased here, but still steve, you have made a valid point. i hated the smurfs, that toon sucked as hell and didn't care much for care bears. and btw, tiny toons and animaniacs were 90s cartoons- not 80s

Mine are:
1. Pokemon - My nephew used to love this, but I honestly did not see the point to it at all.
2. The New Fantastic Four (from 1979) - They bought in that stupid Herbie the Robot to replace the Human Torch.
3. Cow and Chicken - Just plain dumb.
