Can you blame him though, I mean music groups like Bon Jovi and the Black Eyed Peas write songs in his honor, the cult leader of many out of work men and housewives Oprah Winfrey gush over him, he keeps getting invited on shows, the guy was becoming bigger than Bill Clinton to the Democratic party. He was a "god" even before he did one thing in the oval office.

It's the whole novelty of being "the nation's first black president". He's just so giddy with joy that he's gotten into the White House. It's a total insult to
any African-American or person of color who has actually had to WORK HARD to get high up in any presidential administration or position of power and authority in Washington.
Bon Jovi singing his praises. Now we know those chemicals he used on his scalp as a hair farmer back in the 80's have begun to work on his synapses. :schmack:

Also the CLIP that they are talking about in the article was TAPPED LAST YEAR BEFORE Obama became president. Obama was still RUNNING to become President at the time that was TAPPED.

I agree with you. I can't believe the disrespect this man is getting. Wow! In comparison to the last president, he is refreshing. I am looking forward to seeing him on the show. Just as long as he puts his all into his job and produces results, I will be happy. If he spent that hour at dinner with his wife instead of Jay's stage, people would not have a problem with it. I can't see someone saying "How could you stuff your belly with food when the world needs to be saved?" President Bush did not appear on any talk shows during his term and he was still hated and I can understand why. LOL. Nothing is ever perfect. He could appear on Jerry Springer for all I care, just as long as he gets results.

If you're watching TV Sunday morning or late Monday night, it'll be rather difficult to avoid President Obama.
CBS announced today that Obama will be the sole guest Monday on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
"President Obama's appearance will mark the first by a sitting US president on the 'Late Show' and his first visit back to the show since his election. In total, this will be President Obama's sixth visit to the broadcast -- he last appeared on the 'Late Show' September 10, 2008 during the height of his 2008 presidential election campaign," the announcement said.
Also, CNN announced that Obama will be interviewed on its "State of the Union" show on Sunday. He will also appear on Univision.
That follows word Monday that Obama will appear Sunday on "This Week" on ABC, "Meet the Press" on NBC, and "Face the Nation" on CBS.
At this point, Obama is skipping Fox News Channel, which a study released Monday found had been very critical in its coverage, and the Fox broadcast network, which has recently refused to preempt primetime programming to air Obama's speeches. MSNBC does not have a Sunday news interview show.
All the face time on television comes as Obama puts the hard-sell on for his health care overhaul plan, whose fate in Congress could be decided in the next few weeks.

Exactly how is he making himself accessible to the public? Going on talk shows? That isn't Obama being accessible, that is him pushing an agenda. Big difference. Hitler made himself accesible, always having speeches and creating propoganda films. Look at how that turned out.

how many people can attend a town hall meeting? 200?500? how many people can obama reach through tv? millions. not everybody watches these political analysts shows so by going on late night talk he's reaching a broader audience. these late night talk shows have for years been the barometer of the publics opinion - hence, why they heavily rely on political jokes. i think its a very smart and savvy move to push his agenda this way.
and, yes, he IS pushing an agenda. guests on these show don't go on just for ha-has or to simply shoot the breeze. they're all there to plug, promote, advertise (anyway you want to put it) their latest movie, book, show, album etc. obama is using this avenue to get his message across and i see nothing wrong with being savvy and innovative.
wake up and realize we're living in a celeb obsessed culture. britney spears shaving her head made bigger news than our troops dieing in iraq. sad but true. for him to be taking his case to the public and making them aware of todays issues in a more relaxed format by going on late night talk show is brilliant, he's getting their attention in a way he would otherwise not be able to. it's the same concept as the now defunct George magazine. JFK Jr. understood the connection between pop culture and politics.
i'm not sayin he should be on talk shows every night. but the healthcare issue is one of the most important on the table, something needs to be done. for the longest time i was one of the millions of americans without health insurance. i went a decade without health insurance and am being sued by numerous hospitals for thousands because of minor ailments i had to seek treatment for. i have bad credit because of these debts but can not afford to pay them back because i am payed so little. i finally got health insurance last year but at a high cost. $100 EVERY week from my paycheck (for a subpar policy) , whats leftover gives me little to live on.
its not right that in the united states of america in the year 2009 that there are people without health insurance - that are suffering and dieing from things that can be treated or cured for the simple reason they can not afford health insurance. i'm talking about the middle class average working american people and i am one of them.

Sad that there are thousands of people who have to declare bankruptcy because they do not have healthcare. Its sad when people will sit home and suffer rather then go to a doctor because of the fear of a huge bill. Sad when a person become ill and while suffering with that illness they have to worry about hospital bills that probably cost more than their house.

It is frightening - the price of healthcare is criminal. I agree that there needs to be reform, but I just don't think universal healthcare is the answer. I think the government is way too much in our business to begin with - and THEY should have the same healthcare as US!!

I'm actually being facetious, yet at the same time, I'm pointing out that many voters chose Obama simply because of his race.
Well, let's see: We could wait until he completes his term in 2012, but does that prevent us from making judgements now? Many people are not happy with how he is handling healthcare and other issues. They are forming opinions now and not waiting for the next election year. Things are happening which are completely consistent with his character, people are realizing now.

What are you suggesting, that we all wait four years before we give our opinions here? This is a political message board where people discuss anything they want. Just as you want to praise Obama, others have a right to criticize him. If it bothers you, this isn't the forum for you. As for bringing race into everything, that's what the Left has been doing. Have you been reading or watching the news? Politicians, pundits, columnists, even a former Presdient are calling people racist if they dare criticize Obama. The White House spokesperson had to address it today. And yes, Obama was elected President because he was black. He had the slimmest resume ever. No way in hell would a white first term Jr. Senator get elected President, whose only credentials was as a community organizer. Never in a million years. The guy's an empty suit.

That's right. Polls show that 85% of Americans are happy with their healthcare. Fix the 15% instead of revamping and Socializing the entire healthcare system. It doesn't work. Look at other countries who went that route. Disaster. Obama is a Socialist. That's why he wants this so bad.

why is race being dragged into this as always? ...
Race is dragged into this because the left ALWAYS drags race into everything.
Even Jimmy Carter is not making the argument that Obama is doing a fantastic job and deserves to have everything he wants passed into law. Carter is saying that the only reason anyone could possibly disagree with the guy is because he's black. It's Carter, Maureen Dowd, James Carville, Chris Matthews and every Democrat in the House and Senate who dragged race into this.
...the presidents listed have served out their terms, obama has not even completed a year in office, so why not judge his work after he's served his term and determine the impact of his administration's legacy then.
Because it's absurd to wait 4 years before deciding how a President is doing. Case in point, you're telling all of us to wait until after his first term is over before we "judge" him, and yet, you've just put him into a group of "Top 10 Presidents of all time", even though he's only been in office for eight months!! We're judging his actual performance, you're projecting that he's an all time top 10. How does that work? I don't see YOU waiting until his term is over before anointing him as a Top 10!

EXACTLY!! :clap

The guy's an empty suit.
i have every right to post here as well. i said nothing offensive to anyone. people here DO discuss anything they want, the majority on here are obama haters who attack anyone who agrees with obama. christ, the guy sneezes and every one on here is all over him. just because you don't agree with my opinion does not mean you have the right to mock me with  symbol. i have not personally attacked anyone on here and theres no need to be vicious.
and fyi, i watch the news every single day. i read the newspapaers every single day and the political magazines every single week, thank you. the fact of the matter is, i agree with obama's politics. he's trying to dig us out of the 8 year hole the bush's administration buried us in. sorry, but miracles don't happen over night.

Post all you want, but don't tell anyone to wait until Obama's term is over to judge him. I didn't mock you. If a laughing smilie offends you and you consider it vicious, the heat may be a little too hot for you in this kitchen.

I don't see anything wrong with him appearing on the show. I understand that others don't feel it's an appropriate thing for a President to do, but I see nothing wrong with it.
