I have a computer question:

Is there a way to set the font size for AOL incoming e-mail? Is there a way to set it so that the font size is bigger? I was able to set outgoing mail to a bigger size. I have searched and searched, but I can't find a setting. I know there's a setting in Yahoo for Yahoo e-mail, but I can't find one for AOL.

I currently use AOL 9.1. I know most people perfer IE or Firefox, but I prefer AOL. We have both an XP computer and a Vista computer. If anyone knows how to set the incoming AOL e-mail to a bigger font size, please let me know. I have already gone under mail settings, settings, text and fonts, etc. None of which had the option to change the font size for incoming e-mail. As I share the XP computer I only want to change the font size for me, for my screen name.

I have AOL also. I tried to find the info for you, but according to AOL the only way to increase the size of your incoming e-mails is to use the magnifier on your computer. I didn't even know I had a magnifier, but I do. My computer is VISTA. If you click the Start button-All programs-Accessories-Ease of Access-Magnifier. Then you can set the size you want and set it to work with your mouse. It's kind of cool...I didn't even know it was there. :)

^ Thanks. I went to that. A box came up and said that the magnifier is only meant for those with 'slight' visual impairment. It said some users will need a different magification program with higher magnification. My vision impairment is severe so it wouldn't work for me. I already have a program called Zoomtext. It's not a big deal, I just thought if I could find a setting that would default all incoming e-mail to a larger size it would be easier for me to see.

I have a computer question. My computer and modem are plugged into a power strip. To save on energy, is it okay to turn the power off and unplug it? A cable/internet tech told me to never unplug my modem. It could fry.

There is a button that I press that says standby so I won't have to worry about being online when I am not in the room, I do that. I have never turned off my modem but have unplugged it just to reset it or the phone/DSL cable goes out.

If your modem is like the DSL/cable and it's connected to the phone, I wouldn't because you can't make any calls if you do.

I have my computer on a power strip that is on an outlet with my printer and monitor. So I am able to turn off my computer.

Then I have a small extension cord that goes in another outlet, that goes to my modem and router.

But don't ever, ever unplug the router for a long period of time or press the reset button because you could mess up the settings and your wireless connection won't work. I've learned that..

I don't have DSL. What I did now was plug my modem into the outlet and leave it on and now when I'm done with my computer I hit the switch on the power strip and unplug it. Some say it's okay to unplug everything and others say the opposite.
