STAR Trek's Mr Spock character was created to be a SEX SYMBOL, a newly-discovered letter from the cult TV show's creator has revealed.
Gene Roddenberry - who died aged 70 in 1991 - wrote he gave the pointy-eared Vulcan a "look of the devil".

And he thought that might be "particularly provocative to women".

Leonard Nimoy played Spock in the sci-fi series - catchphrase "to boldly go where no man has gone before".

But William Shatner's character Captain James T Kirk was considered to be the male sex symbol.

Roddenberry refers to Spock as "Spoke" in the 1973 letter - which could fetch 1,200 at auction on Saturday in London.
