I wanted to wish all of my Candian SOL friends a very happy Canada Day! My husband and I go to Canada every year to celebrate our anniversary (which was yesterday), so we feel like we are "honorary Canadians"!!

In honor of Canada Day, a few videos for your enjoyment!!!

Thanks for posting this Andrea!

Those clips are great - I hadn't heard of the Wierd Al one before!!! He's always great.

Here's a cute one they played on the news last night. Ya gotta love a country that doesn't take itself too seriously! ;)

Yes Cathie, I'm feeling so much better, thank you. I'm getting a little stronger with each passing day. :) I hope and have been praying that you're doing good physically too. Nothing makes me happier than knowing that the ones I love and care about are doing good. :D

Even though you'll always be TripperFan to me, I must admit that I'm starting to get more use to Pus$y Galore, and it's starting to work for me. I think it fits you pretty well!! :)

So, did any of you do anything fun to celebrate? I know that a lot of places canceled their fireworks (same is true in the States), but hopefully you found a different way to celebrate! I'm in Whistler right now and they had a pretty nice parade yesterday. Unfortunately the downtown fireworks in Seattle have been canceled for the 4th, so we're staying an extra few days in Canada! Might as well!!!

I also wanted to add that I absolutely LOVE that Weird AL song. At first I thought it was going to be insulting to Canadians (until I learned that it's actually a paraody of a song called "American Idiot"), but it's hilarious and all done in fun. I hope it doesn't offend anyone here.

And as far as the National Anthem goes. I LOVE "Oh Canada". I think it's SO much better than "The Star Spangled Banner". I find the "Star Spangled Banner" kind of boring and long. "Oh Canada" is definitely much more upbeat and fun to sing!! I'm still trying to memorize the words!!

My Dad and I went to a pancake breakfast that the Optimist Club puts on every Canada Day. The day before we joined my Mom at the care home where she lives. They had a Canada Day party with vintage cars, a singing group that sang songs we all sang along to, and even ice cream.

My favorite thing about "Oh Canada" is that it includes a prayer. "God keep our land glorious and free".

Happy Canada Day! I got to visit Canada in 1978 when I was 14 but don't recall much about the trip. I do remember going to some place called Boblo Island but that's about it. Of all the places we ate at, It was KFC And I seem to recall that they offered fries cooked in vinegar. My Aunt told me that a lot of restaurants served them that way but I wanted no part of it.

Really? Actually, I've always preferred yours! I think ours is the draggy, boring one. And they changed a couple of lines in it in the late 70s which I can never get used to - I still sing the old way that I was brought up with in school! LOL
I love singing the Star Spangled Banner - I think it's a really cool song, but one not many people can sing well because of the ranges in it.
Whenever I'm at a baseball or hockey game I always enjoy standing and singing for both.
And yah, it's the first time I've heard Wierd Al's Canadian Idiot - I never knew he did one for us. Offended? Heck, we're just happy he included us!

The rain dampened a lot of things I think, but here in Toronto it was even worse - we have a stupid garbage strike going on and lots of things were cancelled because the bonehead, greedy city workers. These clowns make $34 an hour and get 18 sick days a year, which can be banked and paid out at retirement, but they're wanting MORE! Talk about needing a reality check!

^^ Yeppers! Always great to hear from the South Park Gang!!!

Funny though, before '82, it was called "Dominion Day" (for the dominion of Canada) and there was also a chain of grocery stores named "Dominion" so as a little kid, I thought it meant it was a holiday for grocery stores!

And I'd like to be first to wish our southern pals a great Independence Day tomorrow~! Also known as "National Stuff Yourself With Beer and Hotdogs Day"!!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

My family and I drove up to Canada two summers ago (from Southern California....never again...) and visited British Columbia and Victoria. Gorgeous country. Wish we could've stayed longer though-we would've stayed longer had we not driven. Next time, I am definitely flying and seeing more of Canada.

Oh, I LOVE British Columbia! We have been to Victoria so many times we've actually gotten sick of it! That's why we're in Whistler this week! Another place you might like is Banff. OMG, just gorgeous! It's in Alberta, but it has the beauty of British Columbia.

Wow, driving from Southern California to Canada! Man, that's a long drive!!! Did you guys go in a car or an RV?
And I thought driving from Dallas to Seattle was long!!!

I googled pictures of Whistler and it looks gorgeous! Hope you are having a fun time!

And unfortunately, we went in a car. =/ We were going to rent a big van, but once my dad and I got there, we were informed we can't take the car out of state. If we did and anything happened, we would be liable for everything. So, all 5 of us went in my mom's 2007 Camry. It's a big and roomy car, but not for a loooooong drive to Canada. There wasn't enough room to stretch and be comfortable. It was a memorable vacation though!
