in your opinion, what were for you the biggest rock and pop rivalries of all-time? mines were:

- jacko verses prince
- madonna verses kylie minogue (in the uk that is during the 80s where both were extremely popular)
- madonna verses cyndi lauper
- janet jackson verses paula abdul
- the beatles verses rolling stones
- backstreet boys verses nsync
- britney verses christina aguilera -though both have claimed that they are still on good terms with each other to this day

To me, it had to be Michael Jackson vs. Prince. I lived through that rivalry. Prince's "When Doves Cry" was the only thing that cooled off "Thriller" Not too many people can steer fans away from Michael Jackson, but Prince did it. Because of it, Prince did not participate in the song "We Are the World" He didn't want to share the stage with many artists.

I read a book about his life and he didn't want Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis producing other artists while they were with The Time. One time he followed Vanity into a bathroom at a club to tell her he wanted to get with her and he wanted to make her a singer LOL. He's a strange guy. When i read how he approached Vanity, i said to myself, that's how he approaches women? Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

LOL, I remember that. I do love Prince, he's better artistically, but Michael Jackson had greater commercially appeal. Though MJ is a great artist himself, he has the edge in Prince.

BTW, Prince had decent love songs. Remember Darling Nikki?

Yeah i remember Darling Nikki. I like his other love song The Beautiful Ones on Purple Rain album and It's Gonna Be Lonely song on self titled album that came out in 1979 but i don't like his other love songs. Diamonds And Pearls song is nice. It's really a shame what happened to Vanity. She was so hot in the 80's. It's sad to see she used to be a drug addict and almost died from a drug overdose. She's a church preacher now and she doesn't like to talk about her past. She doesn't like to be called Vanity anymore. She goes by her real name now Denise Matthews. She has a website. I've emailed her a few times and she's responded back several times. She told me she was coming out with a book called Blame It On Vanity about her past but you can only buy it from her website. I saw a recent picture of Sheila E. She still looks good. It looks like she got skinnier. I watched Krush Groove movie a few days ago. I had a crush on her in the 80's. I remember when Run of Run DMC came to her apartment in the movie and he noticed that the bedsheets were messed up. So he figured that Blair Underwood had been by to see her. She told him that Blair was in trouble and she was worried. He said you the one who f*cked him. Why don't you help him? LOL. She slapped him and she said what are you talking about? What does she mean what is he talking about? Like he said, she's the one who f*cked him LOL.

Metallica vs. Megadeth

Dave Mustaine was once the lead guitar for Metallica. He was fired for his excessive drinking before Metallica's debut album Kill 'Em All. Mustaine admits that his lifestyle at the time was out of control but he was displeased with how they handled his firing.

Metallica fired him when they got to NYC for recording sessions after a long drive from California. Instead of doing it back home they woke him early in the morning, told him he was fired, and sent him back on a bus.

He went on to blast Metallica for over a decade and the rivalry still exists today among band members and fans.




Van Halen vs. David Lee Roth

David Lee Roth was the front man for Van Halen for six big albums. Around 1984, after a falling out with the band, he was fired and replaced by Sammy Hager.

After Roth was fired he decided to front his own band and blasted Van Halen every chance he could.




Ozzy Osbourne vs. Black Sabbath

Ozzy was fired from Sabbath in 1978 and replaced by Ronnie James Dio.

Ozzy was thought to never be able to succeed on his own and many were surprised at the success of his solo debut Blizzard of Ozz. When Ozzy became successful he used every chance to blast Black Sabbath; even going after Ronnie James Dio's height.

After a while it seemed things calmed down but in 1992 Ronnie James Dio refused to open for Ozzy's "farewell tour" at the time. Dio decided to quit Sabbath and refused to open for Ozzy after what happened.

Prince was suppose to be in We Are the World, but he did back out like you mentioned. Can you imagine if MJ and Prince had back to back solo parts in We Are the World?! That would have been gold.
