 I'm 19, Mike... you might be surprised.  ;)

Anyways, I am happy right now because my mom made a chocolate cake for 4th of July.. and not too many people have been shooting off fireworks yet.. so the noise isn't an issue.. yet. :D

When I was 19 I never thougth of such things! Mattie, were you born in late '89 or early '90?

The cake sounds great! :D

The cake is.. I'm saving it for later.
I'm also happy because the weather is remarkably cool.. so we're not sweating to death. :D

P.S. LOVE the Mulder and Scully avatar, Mike... one of my favorite shows + couples for sure!

Man, in Feb of 1990 I was in 7th grade!

The X-Files is one of my all time favorite shows! Last week I watched "Beyond the Sea", "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" and "The Post-Modern Prometheus" (the episode my avatar is from) on DVD. :D

I feel good because my husband and I had a nice day today at a cookout. It wasn't as sunny as I'd like and windy, but it wasn't hot. First cookout of the season.

That sounds like a lot of fun, Janice! :D Even if it wasn't all that sunny... well, I'd almost take cooler to hotter weather for a cookout anyway. ;)

Romeo is being so cute. He's following me around. Last night I was online and Cuddles decided to get up in my lap. She was doing her bunny pose. That's where she tucks her paws underneath her and her tail. It's cute. :)

I have enjoyed watching America's Got Talent. It comes on during the summer and it's always interesting to see who will be on there and what kind of talent they people have or don't have. :)

Jessie chased me down the hall yesterday. Actually, he was just following me to my room. Playing around with him, I started running and then he started running. He and I can both use the exercise though.

I love that kitty pose. Lily does that the most here, although Cesar does it too. They both melt my heart.

I slept most of the day today, so I can't say much for my day, but I did have a great night tonight. I talked with Jen on the phone for about an hour and a half. We had a great chat, and it was awesome hearing her voice again since it had been a long time since we last spoke on the phone. Jen is just a damn awesome person. :D And during our chat, my mom came in and gave me a card that I got in the mail yesterday, and it was from my dear friend Janice!! She had the nicest, and most touching things to say in the card, and she even gave me a little gift as well. :D Thank you so much to two great friends for making tonight a great one. Much love to you both!!!

I'm soooo glad you and Lou had a special day out Janice, that makes me so happy. Sorry it wasn't as sunny as you would have liked. Too bad we couldn't have switched locations for the day. It was sunny and HOT here all day today. Anyway, I'm just glad the two of you had such a great day. That is truly like music to my ears!! :)

That would be alot of fun to have a three way call. Like Jen said though, can you imagine how long that call would likely be?? You and I once talked for 8 hours, a call between the three of us would probably go double that long. lol!! I know I would enjoy every second of it though, as you both are so much fun to chat with!! :)

I'm so glad you had a pleasant July 4th Janice! Thats basically how the husband and I spent ours, with a small cookout. We're having the same weather as you today, its a little windy, the type of breeze you get in late August/early Septemeber in New England. It was our first cookout too and first time I had a hamburger off the grill since last summer. It was delicious and worth the wait, and better than the fast food crap!

I think we sounded okay, Mike. It just took lots of focus on the technical side of it, you know... controlling mike volumes such, and they have a computer screen that shows song lyrics that I had to control.. so yeah, it took a lot of focus, but I think it was worth it for God. ;)

My husband and I had another nice day today. Started out with a doctor's appointment. No fun there. Then, went to CVS. Shelled out $42.54. The bottom of the receipt states I saved $38.15, and I also got coupons at the bottom of my receipt, totaling about $5. It was great. With the money we saved, we went to The Outback Steakouse. What a blast! My husband makes me laugh so much. We're celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary next year, and I love him more today than I ever did. Like all couples, we've had our problems, but the good far outweighed any bad.

Although we had some problems last week in the sports forum & I made comments in bad taste, I want to congratulate you on 25 years of marriage! It is very good and you should be proud of that accomplishment, both you and your husband. I just got back in touch with a girl who makes me laugh and feel good. If you can counter act that, and make a marriage work successfully & happily for 25 years, it's pretty amazing. I'm honest when I say I'm glad some people like you and your husband can really make a marriage work. Congrats again :).

Its great to see two people so much in love after 25 years. :)
Thanks Mike....and Jenny. Marriage really is hard work. I should say that a good marriage is hard work. Lou's late father used to say that all the time, and I didn't know what he was talking about. I was a newlywed then, and it all come so easy. Now I know what he meant. He got it right, married for 59 years. The one thing Lou and I have going in our favor is that we never get bored with each other. I can spend an entire week barely leaving his side and I never tire of him. That's great in one respect, but scary in another that I can't discuss. It's my biggest fear. I just knoked on wood so much that my knuckles are sore, lol. I think that loss is the price we pay for love, and I'll leave it at that.

You mentioned that you were considering playing something by a classical composer. I think you should go with Mozart. I love his music. I have a number of Mozart CDs.

I took piano lessons in grade school, but the only three songs that I can really play well are "Imagine" by John Lennon, "November Rain" by Guns N' Roses and "Gina's and Elviara's Theme" by Giorgio Moroder from the Scarface soundtrack.

Janice, I don't mind you asking.I've just been under a lot of stress lately and didn't think i could give the proper attention and focus to the board.

its hard for me to keep up w/ the posts at times on here and trying to stay current with my responses can be time consuming. (thats why i don't participate in the birthday threads too often, because some days i'm on and other days i'm not. i make every effort however to repond to prayer threads or advice threads if i feel i can offer something.)

anyway, i just have so much on my mind right now i've lost some of my enthusiasm for the boards and felt it was best to take a brief break until i sorted things out. but i don't want to risk losing all the friends i've made so i'm trying to hang in there.

also at times i feel i'm the certified drama queen of the board as i share a lot of my problems on here, though i have a naturally open personality and am just programmed that way. but many people here have their own problems, and other people are on here to escape their problems and just come to enjoy nice conversation and i don't want to hinder that. so that was my other reason

It really is an honor, Mattie, to be up there playing in front of all the students. As I said in a previous post, if you are still thinking in going classical you should play Mozart. Maybe the "Piano Concerto No.21" or "Symphony No. 40". No matter what you play though, I'm sure you'll be great. :)

It's always great to hear about shopping!! I'm glad you found a cool top, Megan... and I totally know what you mean about sunglasses! I, like Mike, had this one pair that looked good on me.. and I broke them at the Fair last year. I am really happy right now. I'm in Dallas visiting my mom and family. My mom is getting married tomorrow to a wonderful guy. Usually I dread going home, which is sadly why I've only been home three times since 1996, but this has turned out to be a wonderful trip. Tonight we went out to dinner with the whole family and I got to see 9 of my family members; aunts and uncle, "little" brother, my new stepdad, my uncle's girlfriend (she's really nice. I'd heard about her but never met her). I was feeling sick all day long today with a bad migraine, but fortunately by the time we got to the restaurant, I was feeling better. Unfortunately we had to make an emergency stop at the grocery store for some Pepto Bismol. My husband and I are staying in a wonderful hotel, which might be the key to our good time. I love my mom, but sometimes it's a little annoying staying at her house. This hotel is just wonderful! It's in a residential area and it's really quiet. We are going to the wedding tomorrow and then are going to hopefully meet up with my best friend (my matron of honor at my wedding) and maybe another friend of ours. We are leaving really early Sunday morning to go home, but I realy wish we would have booked a later flight. At least that gives us an excuse to come back. I really think this is our best trip to Dallas yet. It almost (and that's a huge almost, because I LOVE living in Seattle), wish that we lived here again. My husband would definitely not share that opinion though. I can't wait to come back!!!

This morning, when I came out of my house to go to my cousin's house to babysit, I went in the wrong car  I was so tired, I hopped in my dads almost (he has a black truck), and my uncle's truck was parked behind his, which is black as well. I was wondering where my Uncle went when I almost hopped in my Dad's truck. No wonder, I was in the wrong car LOL . It feels good to laugh about it now though. Uncle Chris was cracking up lol.
 I think I can beat you on this one though. Way back, there used to be what's called Drive-In Movies. Kidding, I'm sure you've seen them. Anyway, I was a teenager on a double date. I went to the ladies room. Naturally it was dark, and when I was coming back, I jumped into the back seat of the wrong car which was filled with strangers. It was two other couples on a date, and here I am, sitting there, feeling like a fool in the backseat with a couple. I'm lucky I didn't jump on someone's lap. I can laugh now, but it was so embarrassing then, lol.

That is hillarious!

One time I was at a restaurant with my sister and she was like 16, just got her license. Anyway she kept begging to drive my car. So I had to go to the restroom and I gave her my keys and told her she could start my car and I might let her drive home. So I go outside and get to the car and it was empty. I'm thinking..where the heck did she go. I start looking for her and find her sitting in another car that looked exactly like mine a few rows away. She was trying to shove the key in the ignition and was all upset that it wouldn't work. What's weird is that she used my key to unlock the door to that car, so I guess the door-locks on that model all had the same key.

Sweetie, it was awesome chatting with you, too. Once, again, THANK YOU. I was crying so hard that I could barely speak, but after talking with you on the phone, I went from sobbing to laughing, and it takes a very special person to do that!

I'm so glad I was able to make you feel a little better Tara. :) Hearing you laugh was like music to my ears. Like I said, you can always call on me whether you're sad, and just need a shoulder to cry on, whether you're happy, or if you just feel like having someone to talk to. Your calls always brighten my days too, and I'm always here for you. ALWAYS!!! :D

Btw, were you finally able to get a little sleep?? I sure hope so. I was able to get in 6 hours, so I'm feeling a little better. I hope you were also able to slow your mind down a bit, and get some rest.

I finally crashed about a half an hour after I talked with you; then I woke up, four hours later, with the worse headache (from all the crying), then I fell asleep again around five this morning, and slept for ten hours. The good thing is, from this ordeal, is that I have literally lost five pounds in just two days...

 Reminds me of the time I went to pick up my friend Melissa. I went to apartment 3 or whatever number it was and asked for Melissa. The lady there told me she went out for ice cream with her dad. I was confused because she knew we were going to do something, but I shrugged and left. I walk out of the building and there is Melissa. I went to the wrong apartment building, but there was a Melissa living in the apartment too. I was so embarrassed.

Melissa is a very common name. Among girls born in the 70's it was second only to Jennifer.

I'll have to post a picture, because I can't really discribe it. Its just cut really short because of the hot weather. Marvin probably doesn't like it when his hair grows out since he's an ex-military man. ;) My hair growing out really doesn't bother me because it was really long in junior high and high school. At 32 I perfer it short now, but if it grows out a little bit, it doesn't bother me. :)

I bought a set of greeting cards today. They are 3-D and have a summery feel to them. I've got one addressed and ready to mail, and I may send out another to a friend. I've had a great day so far. I slept in until after 12. Stayed up until 3 or so. I just had a great dinner, chicken and shrimp, rice and veggies, mixed together in a cajun sauce. I have a vanilla yogurt or granola bar around 1am, or occasionally a snack of another sort. It's like a ritual. I guess I have a little TMI going on in this post, lol. It ends NOW! :)

That is so cool! You can search for old friends yourself. You never know who you'll find on there. Most of my facebook friends are people from highschool or college. Plus I have family and friends from work on there. I've added a couple of friends I've met online, but the bad thing is my mother is now questioning me when people she doesn't recognize post on my wall. :( I hate that she thinks she has to know everything about my life! Well it's good to know I'm not alone in this. Still, I am way older than you so my mom should be past this phase by now! The problem is she is disabled and cannot go out much so she spends most of her time online. I tried to get her interested in some sites where she could communicate with other people (like facebook) but it backfired on me because she uses it to keep track of me and my relationships instead of developing her own. Plus I end up lying to her about things because I don't want her to worry that I am chatting with people I don't know well (she is VERY scared by that.) Then I feel guilty for lying. I love my mom more than anything and we are very close, I just don't want to upset her.

I'm glad you liked the card so much, Brad. I saw it, and immediately thought of you. It's amazing how a card can lift a person's spirits. :)

I just got my grade back from my math class and got the biggest shock of my life. I passed with a 3.0

This is a person who can barely add and subtract.

The good news is no more math ever.

Yeah, man! That's awesome! I hope I can achieve the same when I take my Statistics class in the Fall. I suck at Math too, or maybe it's just Math that sucks.. I don't know. Congrats!

Ah, I didn't like Stats. The first half was easy, and then the second half of the semester was everything being pretty much crammed into one problem. :o I remember a good number of the questions on my final took up a whole page. Good luck! And I think it's math that sucks. ;)

I'm not sure what type of Stats class you have, but I wish you luck with it. I had to take 2 Stats classes, and I fortunately had a great professor. She explained it very clearly, and I surprisingly did well in both of them.

Thanks for wishing me luck... It's called "Intro to Applied Statistics" and the description reads as follows: "Presents an introduction to applied statistical methods." So, it sounds like more of an intro class... I'm thinkin.... you could probably help me out if I needed it? Congrats on doing so well on your 2 classes! Also, the teacher I'm taking it with gets stellar reviews, so I'm really psyched actually. :D

I am absolutely horrible in math. I think I'm even afraid of it! Seriously! I just cringe at the thought of taking another class. I mean, I'm so bad at it that I've never taken algebra or any of that stuff that you are supposed to take in, what, junior high? OMG, I'm getting embarrassed just typing this! From fourth grade on, I was always in Special Ed for math, right up until high school. How they let me graduate is beyond me. This is sad but it's the reason I don't have a college degree right now. I don't 'qualify' for the 'required' math class that I need for this degree (not even in a field that I'm interested in, but a degree nonetheless!). I would have to take THREE math classes (and pass them of course!) just to qualify for the one class that would get me a degree. Kind of annoying because I don't understand why they can't just let you in the darn class. I could get help and probably squeak by. I don't even really need the degree, but it would be nice to have one. However I do have two certificates, so that's good enough for me.

We are exactly one week away from my sister's due date. She's ready to pop! She and her husband are going to see the doctor later today. They want to be surprised, so we won't know for another few days whether or not its a girl or another boy. :D

Oh wow! That's so awesome! It seems like not a lot of people are willing to wait to find out the sex of the baby until the actual birth... so it's really awesome that your sister has decided to wait... I think that's grand! I hope she is feeling okay. Congrats!;)

I feel good because I got an awesome early birthday present in the mail the other day from my good friend Jen. (FamilyTiesForever). She sent me the entire first season of one of my all time favorite shows Family Ties. :D I was so excited when I received it, and my mom and I had a great time watching many of the episodes yesterday. Jen is an absolute sweetheart, and I thank you from the bottom of my  for the awesome gift. Infact, I think I'm going to pop it in and watch some more episodes now. :) Thanks again Jen for making my week!!!
