Sony announced today that the long awaited release of Season 4 on DVD will be on July 21! Season 4 marks the addition of Shelley Hack as Tiffany Welles, Shelley is gone by seasons end. Farrah Fawcett appears in 3 episodes this season, thus marking her final appearance as Jill Munroe. The 'Love Boat' crossover episode starts off season 4.

Now, Sony needs to make season 5 available at the end of this year so we don't have to wait too long (3 years between seasons is just unacceptable).

Hey, that's great news! I always liked Shelley Hack and feel she got a real bad rap...it'll be nice to see her episodes again. Maybe they can even get her to do commentary!!

Have to say that I enjoy watching Tiffany Welles. She was much better than Sabrina. Can't wait to see the final season released so that I can see Julie Rogers. I've seen both Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts on other shows.
It's a shame that Shelley was fired at the end of season 4, but I've read in many stories that Kate was fired from Charlie's Angels, even though she claims she left on her own terms.

^ I've read elsewhere that Kate leaving CA was a mutual decision, but who knows??

I never knew why she left. Did she ever say anything about it?
Kate Jackson left because she felt the show stopped her from taking part in major movies. She was up for the part of the wife in "Kramer Vs. Kramer" but because she couldn't get out of the show to do the movie, it went to Meryl Streep instead. And to add insult to injury, Meryl ended up with an OSCAR! That was the final straw for Kate. I'm sure there were a lot of other factors, but this seemed to be the main issue. This info is from the "Charlie's Angel Casebook" by Jack Condon if anyone was wondering.

I have that book, too. It's great - Ramona, you definitely need to read this. It's a must for every CA fan!! :D

I just finished S4 last night and really enjoyed it. Poor Shelley - I didn't think she was bad at all. She really doesn't deserve the bad rap she's gotten over the years. ohno:

Once Kate Jackson left, it was never the same. By this point, Jaclyn Smith was the only original angel left and as I recall, Shelley Hack didn't leave much of an impression with me back then.
The original angels should have went the distance together, but Farrah left too early because of a bad manager's advice and ego stroking and Kate -- well, I don't remember why Kate left, but it would be a while before either one of them had success again on TV.

I think Farrah also left the show because her then-husband, Lee Majors, wanted her to.

That's probably true too, Monika. She was badly advised to leave after one season and pursue theatrical features. Then, Farrah's first movie bombed and it would be a while before her career recovered and she was back on the small screen.

I think you're right. I think the only major big-screen success she had was Logan's Run (and that was pre-Angels), and she only had a small role in that one. I guess she just wasn't meant to be a movie star.

Apparently not, but she did carve a niche for herself on TV again with The Burning Bed and a couple of aborted attempts at sitcoms (the names of which escape me) and her career recovered to some degree, but for a while it looked as though Farrah had cursed herself by leaving Charlie's Angels too soon.
I wish she and Kate Jackson had never left. Once Kate was gone, the show was just a revolving door for actresses of varying talent and it wasn't the same for me.

One of those sitcoms was called Good Sports, with Ryan O'Neal. Kate did go on to further success from 1983-87 on Scarecrow & Mrs. King - I think it could've gone on longer but that's when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. All the ladies went on to success with made for TV movies - remember when network TV used to air them???

Idk it's hard for me to warm up to new faces. I'm cool with the new angels but once Kate left it was just not the same for me. I have to say I enjoy seasons 1-3 the best. Not an insult to Shelley or Tanya, it's just the way I feel.

Nothing wrong with feeling that way, Ramona. I can't pick a favorite season - I liked them all.

The show wasn't the same when Kate Jackson left. However, although I did like Farrah Fawcett on the show, I liked Cheryl Ladd more.
And I wish that Kate never left. Kate, Cheryl, and Jaclyn should have went the distance together.

Agreed. Sabrina (Kate) was the leader, the sensible one. When she left, she was replaced by Shelley Hack, who couldn't act and didn't really care that she was on Charlie's Angels.
By the time Tanya Roberts came on board to replace Shelley Hack, the damage was done and the show just sputtered out. There was nothing left, really.

I like Shelly Hack, too. :)
At first, I was somewhat indifferent to Tiffany/Shelly, but lately I have warmed up to the character of Tiffany, and I kinda like her. She was sweet, and I liked her friendship with Kris, Kelly, and Bosley.
And even though I really miss Sabrina, Season 4 did, in fact, have several episodes that I truly enjoyed.
My favorites are:
Love Boat Angels
Fallen Angel
Caged Angel
The Prince and the Angel
Angels on the Street
Angels on Campus
Toni's Boys
One Love, two Angel
Angel Hunt
Of Ghosts and Angels
Angel Trail
