Why do you think Abby had a fling with Richard Avery? He wasn't all that charming, he wasn't handsome, sexy, rich, powerful or even employed, so what was the attraction?

Basically, he was there.

Abby was new in town and hadn't ingriatiated herself with the menfolk yet.

Richard showed her attention, had plenty of time on his hands and found Abby new, attractive and exciting.

But Richard was a slimeball: He had a beautiful, supportive wive and he just flaunted their affair in her face. Why she didn't leave him then is beyond me.

Yes, Richard was the typical sleazy lawyer. Laura deserved WAY better than him - and eventually did find happiness after they finally split up for good.

Just because he was there, wow! That kind of makes her seem desperate in the men department.
And I agree about Richard being a slimeball. That's why it seems so odd that Abby was attracted to him.

Yeah, I was so glad when they finally split up.

It was really just a bump in the road, really. You never saw them in bed together. He was convienient for her. She was priming the pump for bigger fish (Gary).

Then didn't she throw Gary over for someone else?? Was it Mack? Greg Sumner??

It was Greg,..and then Peter. I don't think she ever went after Mack. Karen would have killed her.

She had an affair with Sumner while still married to Gary. After they were divorced, Abby married Sumner, but it was purely a marriage of power and convienience, as Sumner wanted to revive his political career.

Yea she broke up Sumner and Paige. Paige actually thought Greg was going to propose to her but he proposed to Abby instead. I never thought Abby and Greg were that great of a couple anyway.

That's right - I forgot about Peter. Did we ever find out who killed him? Abby and her daughter thought the other did it and he ended up buried in cement.

It's been a long time since I saw that episode but I believe Paige did it. That was one of the best cliffhangers...Abby and Olivia dragging Peter around in the cement.

That's right - and Abby swore revenge on Paige for framing Olivia. I guess the revenge came in the form of stealing Greg Sumner away from Paige.

Not to mention that she buried him later that night. If I remember correctly, she was wearing a white dress and she managed not to get it dirty. Gotta love her.

I thought Abby was hot during her first year. She had that post disco 70's look going on. She was a knock out.

Donna Mills has still held up pretty well over the years. She sure looks a lot better than Joan "Queen of Botox" Van Ark"!

I am just disappointed in Joan's decision to do all that surgery. She was my favorite on Knots. She didn't need it.

Watching those early episodes of KL, Joan was totally beautiful. It's so sad she ruined her face - when are these actresses going to learn that it's not worth it?? Age naturally!!

Abby was just the essential "Clean Up Woman". If you don't know what a "clean up woman" is, Betty Wright did a song about a woman who steals a man's love when his wife or girlfriend ingores him. It was a big hit for her in 1971.
