ATLANTA and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- FamilyNet Television and TVU Networks today announced the launch of FamilyNet's live, 24/7 Broadband channel powered by TVU. FamilyNet has taken delivery of TVU's BD1000 Broadcast Appliance, a 1RU standalone plug-and-play broadcast server based on TVU's real-time packet replication (RPR) technology, to power its first Broadband TV channel in the history of the network.

With this single BD1000 appliance and a single broadband connection, FamilyNet's "made-for-families", entertainment programming will now be available to all U.S. broadband users who have downloaded TVUPlayer and on www.tvunetworks.com.

Broadband viewers will have real time accessibility to FamilyNet's slate of original shows; "EveryDay" with Marcus & Lisa, "Mornings," "Judie Byrd's Kitchen," and "Wretched" with Todd Friel as well as a blended mix of acquired content including laugh-out-loud sitcoms, dramas, children's programs, movies, sports, also lifestyle and travel series.

According to Van Mylar, Senior Vice President National Distribution and Marketing for FamilyNet Television, "We explored a broadband channel for quite some time. What attracted us to TVU was the standalone BD1000 broadcast appliance with its unlimited reach and scalability. Unlike streaming through traditional content delivery networks (CDNs), with TVU's P2P Technology we are assured of a high quality viewing experience for an unlimited number of viewers."

Paul Shen, CEO of TVU Networks states, "FamilyNet is the first and only family entertainment content provider on TVU Networks and we are very happy to include them in our channel line-up. It's exciting to know that through TVU, FamilyNet can now gain distribution to broadband users they currently do not serve."

I downloaded the TVU player and can't see the video on FamilyNet. The audio is fine and this is the only channel I've found with this problem. I already have FamilyNet through Skyangel but it would be nice to watch online also.

That's what I was trying to watch, I just checked 2 other channels, GOD TV and Blue Highways. Both have sound but no picture and they're also on Skyangel. It looks as though I'm being blocked from viewing these channels online.

I watched Happy Days last night. It had a few problems with buffering but after a few minutes ran fine.

The reason why:

TVU should not be broadcasting My Three Sons, Happy Days, Family Ties or Early Edition. Due to their contractual agreement with the distributor, FamilyNet does not have clearance to air these shows on the internet, therefore these shows can not air on TVU Networks. These shows should have been blocked from FamilyNet's broadcast on TVU Networks from the onset of their launch. You can still watch these shows on television on FamilyNet.
