Does anyone recall the loud laugher that was always in the studio audience for Mary Tyler Moore, Rhoda and I think Bob Newhart. Was that Lorenzo Music? They refer to this guy  on one of the reunion shows, or somewhere. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, listen for him when something funny happens, like the Chuckles the Clown episode)

I always heard some canned laughter from a man as he had a distinctive laugh. "HA HA HA HA HA HA"! I also heard this same laugh on "Taxi".

Yes, this laugher was on Taxi, too!! I read somewhere that it was honco Ed. Weinberger, but I could be wrong.

I remember that too, but I wonder why they felt they had to add laughter? Especially since it was so noticable?

I don't think that was canned laughter. Every time you hear it, it's distinct. My guess is James L. Brooks, only because he was involved in all the shows with that laugh. I don't think it was Lorenzo Music, because you heard it on Taxi, a show he wasn't involved with, and didn't hear it on The Bob Newhart Show, which he co-created. It also wasn't Ed. Weinberger, because you hear it on the first couple seasons of Rhoda, while he was working on Mary Tyler Moore and then Phyllis.
