Next, women are very self sufficient and we can think freely for ourselves. We don't need anybody telling us what to do, or where to go. Whereas you men need us to tell you when to breathe and go to the bathroom.

Maddison - what about the Bee Gees?

The Bee Gees - Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb (Maurice died in January 2003) were and are great guys.

Their music isn't for everyone, but as people, the Bee Gees were and are great. They are some of the nicest people anyone could meet.

Their younger brother Andy Gibb was a lovely guy too.

Me too, if anything, I probably could have "dated" more in high school had I NOT hung out with the guys as much as I did. But I like hanging with guys. I have lots of female friends too. One of the best nights out was a couple of years ago when I took my then husband to a "One Night Only" concert (obviously a copy band) of them. People were dancing in the aisles and all having a blast. It didn't matter what age anyone was either - from your kids to seniors. It's like the Beatles - when it's great music, it has no age definition.

They did all the years too - right up until Maurice's death, and then a big tribute to him and Andy (like they did during their One Night Only tour).
And trust me, 53 is INCREDIBLY young to die especially these days. :(

Maddison, you absolutely are the epitome of all the bad stereotypes about feminists and feminism. You're the reason people stereotype feminists as male-hating, don't-care-about-my-looks, hairy females.

A feminist is a woman who wants to be treated with respect and equal. Being equal doesn't even mean we want to "do it all" it just means we want respect and the chance to do have equality.

Gloria Steinem once said that people believe women can do everything men can do, but its NOT accepted that men can do whatever men can do.

What she means by that is that we accept that women can be doctors, and that they can have jobs and take care of the children, but we as a society should not have as big of a problem with a father who stays at home with his children. Stay at home dad's are typically not looked upon by our society as favorable...many times they get typecast as just lazy husbands. We need to have an understanding that there should be acceptance of men who do the "traditional female" jobs in society.

Male-bashing is not part of real feminism. Whats part of feminism is making sure that males know that men and women are equals in everything that they want to be, and the opportunity to be equals.
