Hi gang,
I'm in the market to buy a VCR/DVD-R combo unit as I really need to convert a lot of my old VHS tapes (including home movies, school memories, etc) to DVD as VHS is just going to continue degrade a lot faster and I would love to free up some space in my house from all the old tapes just sitting there.
So if any of you have one and can recommend a brand--let me know!
Thanks!

I have a Pioneer that I got from Sam's Club almost 4 years ago. I haven't had to use my extended warranty yet (knock on wood).

Thanks--so I take it you are happy with it? I'm looking to buy one online.

I have a Magnavox that I'm very happy with. I bought it at Futureshop.

I also have a Magnavox I'm happy with. I bought mine at either Wal-Mart or Target, can't remember.

thanks for those recommendations, Marvin and Joe.
Third in the thread with a Magnavox combo unit. The one I bought (circa 2006) won't write to the newest 16x discs, but otherwise has been very reliable. For best results, I output the VCR to a seperate Panasonic DVD recorder, though.

Thanks Seth! I'm venturing out tomorrow to see if I can find a good price on a Magnovox. I'm not that tech savy, but I just want to get these old memories preserved before they are lost for good. If I don't see a good price at the stores, I'll get one online for sure.
