The results were not good. They found cancerous cells in my cervix. I go in on the 30th of this month, to have the affected tissues removed. Please pray for me. I am scared, but I am also optimistic...

Did you even consider fooling around with Gardasil?

They give that shot for young women, under the age of 26 to prevent them from developing cervical cancer from HPV. I am pretty sure, the cancer I have is from smoking in the past, not from a std.

The reason I asked this was because there have been reports about ill
effects from this supposed HPV vaccine which include damage to the Liver
and Pancreas as well as chronic fatigue. I feel that this drug has the potential
to be very dangerous and more reasearch should be done on it. I think you
should go on youtube and search "Gardasil" and you will find a numer of videos
about people who have been vaccinated with it and the ill effects they now
suffer as a result including a 12 year old girl in Illinois who now suffers from
chronic Pancreatitis. These videos are very informative.

Yes, I know about the side effects of Gardasil. HPV is one of the most common std. More than 50% of sexually active people have it in their lives. You can even get HPV if you are a virgin; but, the disease ususally goes away if you have a healthy immune system; that is why they want young girls to get the shot; you can still get HPV if you are wearing a condom. My cancer was caused from smoking for over 20 years; cigarette smoking causes the cells in the cervix to change that leads to cancer. That is why smoking is so horrible; and, I would not wish this habit on my worse enemy. I am paying the price for allowing myself to be an addict to this insiduous desire to light up...

My doctor found only two area that have pre-cancerous and cancerous cells. I having those infected areas cut out on the 30th. There is a good chance that I will still be able to have children; no chemo or having a hysterectomy. The downside, which is FINE with me, is that I need to see the doctor every 3 months. Am I scared, hell yes!!!; but, I am also positive that I am going to be okay:) And, Cathie, if I ever need someone to talk to, I know you will be the perfect person. THANK YOU:)

Tara, don't let this bother you too much. I have a very strong feeling you'll be fine. They use a new kind of anesthetic now that allows you to wake up much easier and faster and it doesn't make you feel as sick as the old ones.

Don't forget to wear warm socks that day (even ones you don't mind if they throw them out because you'll be wearing booties to the OR). It's just sometimes you have to sit for quite a while waiting and I found I got cold after a while. Usually though if you can let one of the nurses know, she'll get you a blanket. Also bring something to read and don't worry about jewelry or anything - you have to put your stuff in a locker anyway.

You may feel some cramping afterwards when you first wake up. It'll be like bad menstrual cramps/gas. If it's bad enough, again, let the nurses know and they'll give you something for the pain. The pain really doesn't last all that long anyway luckily.

Again, you know if you want to talk you can PM anytime. Friday the 13th is my lucky day - and I'm aiming all the luck towards you this year! :hugs:
