Don't piss off 4 year olds because now they are packing heat...

4-Year-Old Shoots Baby Sitter, Cops Say

JACKSON, Ohio (Jan. 5) - Police say a 4-year-old boy in southern Ohio shot his baby sitter because the sitter accidentally stepped on his foot.
Police said 18-year-old Nathan Beavers and several other teenagers were baby-sitting several young children in a mobile home in Jackson on Sunday when the shooting occurred.

Witnesses told police the 4-year-old retrieved the shotgun from a bedroom closet and shot Beavers. Police said the child was angry because Beavers accidentally stepped on his foot.

Beavers was hospitalized with minor pellet wounds to his arm and side.
Police say another teen was also injured with shotgun pellets.
Jackson County Sheriff John Shashteen said authorities are investigating the shooting. The child has not been charged.

Again, stupid parents leaving weapons laying around for the kids to find them... I AM glad that the babysitter will be OK - and those parents should have to pay his medical bills for this!!

So am I.

Honestly I would like to know how a 4 year old was able to physically handle a shotgun. I know that some are bigger than others and what not but still firing a shotgun is something I don't see many 4 year olds doing.

I don't know if you are but I am familiar with firearms and have handled shotguns before. I don't know how a 4 year old can be able to physically handle it and be able to fire it; the kickback would fly him across the room.

^ No, I've never handled them before, but I'll take your word for it. In any case, this kid sounds like a real brat. I'm sure there will be a lawsuit of some kind, but this kid's parents deserve it for being so careless.

I diotic parents probably spoil the kid rotten too. I bet there will be no consequences and no apology to the babysitter.

This is why parents should NEVER own a gun...or at least have it locked-up in a safe or something so that no child can never see a gun.

Even owning a water-pistol that looks like a gun can fool someone, so those parents should have their child be taken away and have the parents go to jail for that!

Well as the child of a gun owner (my father) I can say that not all gun owners who are parents are irresponsible. It is the parent/s responsibility to teach the child about firearms and their safety if they own one.

My uncle has a country home in Upstate NY so that is where my father kept his guns. We never had them here in our home. They were locked in shelves in a room in the attic in which the door to the room was kept locked at all times until my relatives went in there to handle/maintain their guns.

My uncle and father taught me about guns; I learned at fourteen. That being said keeping a loaded shotgun in a closet is pretty stupid when you have young children.

If you live alone or with no kids then that is one thing but to have children around who know where your weapons are is bad. It should have been locked away if their were kids around.
