Yes, I'll admit it. I have a huge morbid fascination with that family. To say the least, this book has been VERY enlightening. Michelle does NOT sit on her butt all day and let her older kids run the household, by the way.

Today after work I started 33 1/2: Use Your Illusion I and 2 by Eric Weisbard. This is part of a series of short 125 page pocket sized books called 33 1/2 that focus on important rock albums. I've read previous ones on Springsteen's Born in the USA, the Stones' Exile On Main Street and Led Zeppelin IV. This edition isn't very good though. I should have know something was up when the author actually said that he knew nothing about Guns N' Roses.

A few years ago I got some good books I read.

George H. W. Bush's book, 'All my love' the big book he wrote was good. I really liked it.

George W. Bush's book in 2000, I wanted to see what kind of guy he is.

Al Gore's book, Prince of Tennessee in 2000 and I enjoyed that one.

Book that Bush's daughter, Doro Koch wrote about her dad. (Can't think of what it's called.)

Book that Laura Bush wrote two or three years back. It was good.

Book that Gerald Ford wanted published after he died, 'Write it when I'm gone', it's good.

Now I have a book I am slowly reading that Joe Biden wrote, Promises to Keep.

Talking of books, I was in Borders today and I was tempted to buy Bound for Glory by Woody Guthrie but wanted to wait until I was a bit more financially secure, especially since I just bought the K-PAX trilogy recently.

I was also reading through Down the Highway, Howard Sounes' Bob Dylan biography. I read pretty much the entire book when I was about 13 or 14 years old, when my Dad checked it out of the library. I quite like Bob Dylan's music (I haven't heard many of his songs, although I like most of the ones that I've heard) and I found the book very interesting and well-written and quite descriptive in places. I also have a lot of respect for Dylan as I believe he was an extremely talented songwriter and it was interesting to read about his beginnings and his career.

Yes, I have actually, and I've read quite a few of them. I tend to get more out of the Religious themed ones, but the new aged ones can definitely help too. My Aunt Cari sent me "The Secret" recently, which I plan on reading real soon!! Thanks for the suggestion!! :)

I'm in the middle of "The Darkest Hour" by V.C. Andrews. I don't recommend it, it's awful trashy... but I'm addicted!

The New Age is sort of a religion itself - not officially a religion but quite a bit of it is drawn from a lot of Eastern beliefs. One I would recommend is a book called Ask and It is Given by Esther and Jerry Hicks (Esther channels a spiritual entity called Abraham.) A lot of the ideas are similar to what Seth was saying in the Seth books from the 1970s and early 1980s (Seth was a spirit channelled by Jane Roberts.)

I will jot those books and authors down on a notepad, and the next time I visit the library, I'll see if they have them. Thanks again!! :)

Re reading for the umpteenth time- Geek Love by Katherine Dunn

(I copied the synopsis from books.google.com because I'm not good at writing them)

"Geek Love is the story of the Binewskis, a carny family whose mater- and paterfamilias set out–with the help of amphetamine, arsenic, and radioisotopes–to breed their own exhibit of human oddities. There’s Arturo the Aquaboy, who has flippers for limbs and a megalomaniac ambition worthy of Genghis Khan . . . Iphy and Elly, the lissome Siamese twins . . . albino hunchback Oly, and the outwardly normal Chick, whose mysterious gifts make him the family’s most precious–and dangerous–asset.

As the Binewskis take their act across the backwaters of the U.S., inspiring fanatical devotion and murderous revulsion; as its members conduct their own Machiavellian version of sibling rivalry, Geek Love throws its sulfurous light on our notions of the freakish and the normal, the beautiful and the ugly, the holy and the obscene. Family values will never be the same."
