Almost finished with "Singing With the Top Down" By Debrah Willamson. Amazingly, this has become the best book I've ever read. I HIGHLY recommend it! Hilarious, sad, sweet, emotional, suspenseful... pretty much everything you could want in a book. I'm sure before I finish, there will be a bit of romance thrown in as well. That would make it just perfect!

I've finally started reading "Bound" by Donna Jo Napoli. We all know the fairy tale about Cinderella, how her stepmother neglected her and only cared about her own daughters, how she almost became their slave. Well, the same fairy tale also exists in China. And this book is a young adult novel based these Chinese versions of the fairy tale. It takes place in the 14th century, just when the first emperor of the Ming dynasty ascended the thrown. It's about fourteen-year-old Xing Xing, who first lost her mother, and now also her father. She's now in the care of her stepmother. But she only cares about her own daughter, Wei Ping. Xing Xing becomes hardly more than her stepmother's slave girl, and she feels like nobody loves her anymore. But things aren't easy for her half sister Wei Ping either, because her mother has started binding her feet, so they will shrink, as only girls with bound feet can get a decent husband.

Right now I am reading an absolutely hilarious book called "Life's a Beach" by Claire Cooke. I started it yesterday and I'm already on chapter 11! Claire Cooke wrote "Must Love Dogs", which I haven't read. However I did see the movie and hated it, but I don't like Diane Lane at all. Love John Cusack though. That was a while ago, so maybe I'll read the book and then try the movie again.
BTW, I read most of that other book "Man of Her Dreams" but it was so predictible, that it bored me, so I read the last few pages, just to make sure it ended the way I figured it would!!!

This is a series of books where I read the third or fourth book first, so now I'm starting on the first one. I hate when that happens. lol!
I read the third of the "Marcus Welby" books first, and I loved it. I had ordered all three, but the first one was out of stock at the Amazon Marketplace seller from which I had ordered it, and so, I'll have to reorder that one. The first one that I read (#3), and the one that I'm working on (#2), both have some pretty engaging stories to be based on a 40-year-old television series.

That is a REALLY good book. I didn't even read the whole thing and I was in awe of her story...and how ****ed up the foster system could be. She's quite the resilient soul.
Right now I'm reading My Life In Art by Constantin Stanislavsky.
