If you love somebody then that's all that matters. Age is just a number.

Yeah, same. She is SO protective when it comes to guys I date.
About the age... he's 27, and I'm 18. Please don't judge me :( I always like older guys.
That's only 9 years...not bad. It's more important that you are both at a similar maturity level than what year you were born.

So true! people always think I'm older then I really am so that should have something to do with it. My mom says I'm 19 and can't really tell me what to do anymore... but let's just say I'm not sure if I'll be getting dinner that night . My mom basically said any guy who's over 25 and wants to be with a younger girl will control her and or use her for sex. I don't think that's always true.
Any guy any age could do that.

I'll be 24 in August. I've bedded a guy in his 30s (he turned 30 when I was 22). No biggie when you reach your 20s. It's a little awkward at 18 and 19, but you're an adult, soooooooo.

If your mother got pissed about you dating someone who is in his mid 20's she would probably go out of this world if you dated somebody my age.

It sounds like my laptop is not worth saving. Cost will be almost as much as a new one costs, so I'm leaning towards buying a new one. I really can't afford either option, but I hate this computer and can't keep just using this.

I've found several in the $500 to $600 range online(I paid $900 for mine 2 years ago!) but I'm going to go to all the electronics stores in town tomorrow and see what they have first then make a decision. It sucks but the laptop was falling apart(keyboard messed up, battery had virtually no life, constant freezing, full hard drive and memory). Going to have to take better care of this next one.

Sorry you've been feeling down Janice.
Well, I ordered Michael J. Fox's new book on audio cd. It was listed on DeepDiscount.com with two formats abridged and unabridged. I ordered the unabridged format. It turns out that they don't have the unabridged format. According to them the manufacturer doesn't have an unabridged version. I asked for a refund of the difference in price between the two formats. That seems like a fair request on my part. I should be getting a small refund which will be good. I'm keeping the abridged format and have started listening to it.
Went through some photos. Found my car. A week before my little indicent in the parking lot that put a nice little scrape on the left side. Actually got a bit choked up. They just HAD to make the front end of the late 90s Taurus look like a smiley face, didn't they?

I found a very nice HP one at Wal-Mart today for $598. Over twice as big of a hard drive and 4 times as much memory as my old one.

I really think this is going to be the one I go with. I think the store here has it too, so I could have immediately but it might be tomorrow before I have the money.

That looks just like mine. Only difference is mine has a bigger screen, only 2BG RAM, Vista Home basic, and a smaller hard drive. But I still have the HDD out of my old laptop, so less space didn't bother me at all. Just bought an enclosure.

God my life sucks. I was trying to get a family member to help me buy my laptop but they are struggling financially as well, so I'm going to have to wait, and pray that my one college class I'm still taking(which I have a B in) will be enough to get me off academic probation so I can get a loan, go to college this summer, and have leftover money for the laptop(to buy in maybe 2-3 weeks) and some that I can save. If not, I don't know what my point will even be, with no money, no college, and still no laptop. :soapbox:

Me too, Brent. I know somewhat of what you're going through... money troubles and stuff. I myself wasn't able to afford a laptop until just last December... All through high school and first semester of college, I was typing papers on my dad's computer which, God Bless him, saved my life... and he does computer work often, so I had to ration my time to type, research, etc. There was no such thing as fun computer time... so when I got my laptop, I just went and did a buch of things for fun, including joining SO.:D I really hope everything works itself out for you... and that you are able to get that loan.:)

It's kind of longer story then that- I don't feel like explaining the whole thing because it makes me too upset and I'm trying to forget about it. Here's a brief version of it. Basically, I had been dating this for about a week and everything was perfect. We went out practically every day of the week and I was really starting to develop major feelings for him. He was SO nice to me, but sometimes too nice (borderline controlling and overprotective) I didn't mind it though. Last night I decided to bring him and his friend over to my friends house to meet my friends. I had told him earlier to make sure he could drive me home if I had a little bit too much to drink. The plans changed and decided to stay the night at my friends house. Apparently this made him upset because he said he felt responsible and I "set him up for failure" by deciding to spend the night at my friends house. I don't even understand what that means. I had to choose, so I chose to spend the night at my friends house because it was way too late to go back to my house. He started saying things about how "he wasn't going to be responsible for me anymore if I tell him to and then change my mind". I asked him I'd hear from him tomorrow and he said "I don't know, when I'm gone I'm gone". I haven't heard from him at all today and I'm really freaking out. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S GOING ON?? can somebody help me out on this one?? what should I do??

I wish I could offer you some advice that would help you out, however, I'm as confused by his actions and words as you are. The things that he said really don't make a whole lot of sense. What were you setting setting him up to fail at? Also, how were you asking him to be responsible for you? I think your best bet is to give him a call and tell him how you feel and ask him to explain some of the stuff he said.

No, only because you deserve the best, and the man calls the woman. So wait for him to call, and if nothing changes as far as he goes, show him to the door in a metaphorical sense and find a better guy that likes you for you, no matter what.
Uh.. so no then?? lol I don't know what to do. If he's really trippin that much about it then I just want him to know that we can still be friends- I just don't get WHY he's trippin. Also, could you keep this on the DL Kyle? I don't want this on facebook and stuff. I trust you though.

I think I will, just because everyone deserves another chance to explain themselves. I don't know if I want to date him anymore because the way he acted last night was extremely bizarre and I wouldn't want to see the way he would react to something deeper then that. I just want to clear up everything and see if we're cool and can still be friends and there's no hard feelings.

Anyway, I was talking about my life problems in a chatroom I go to regularly and someone has offered to loan me some money to help out. I'm in shock honestly(they've known me in the chatroom but have never met me and only very recently found out about all my problems) and I don't really know what to say. Dell SUX!!! My husband bought me a computer for xmas, it was delivered jan. 20. just a few hours ago it crashed.
i called the dell technical support team. first off, i was disconnected 4 times! then the guy tells me i have to pay $200 for him to help me as software probs. are not on my warranty!
are you kidding me? my husband payed over a thousand dollars for this computer 4 months ago and now you want another $200!
what kind of business treats a customer like this in this economy. here i gave them a thousand dollars worth of business and they can't even assist me without nickle and diming me further.
and i told him just that^^ too. along with some judge judy phrases: "OUTRAGEOUS SIR! OUT-RAGE-OUS!"
finally he tells me the only other way it could be fixed without costing me was if i was to restore it to its factory setting wiping out my hardrive and losing all my files.
he thought he had me there, at his mercy, but i'm smarter than the average bear. when my husband bought the computer he also bought me a device called click free that backs up all your files. so with everything already stored i said "not a problem!"

We have a Dell too, Kim, and I think everything you've mentioned we also had to go through, including wiping out the hardrive. Thankfully, I always saved the really important stuff onto a disk so if anything happens to the hardrive, there will not be anything of importance lost.

^ I'm sorry - I know what it's like to lose an incredible hometown announcer. Even though Herb Score (Indians' radio announcer) had retired at the end of 1997, more than a few tears were shed when he passed a few months ago. The best announcers decribe the happenings so well, as if they are only talking just to you. :rip: Mr. Kalas.
Here is more on beloved Cleveland Indians icon Herb Score and his incredible story:

Terry Cashman, who wrote 10 zillion variations on his composition "Talking Baseball", even wrote a touching ballad in Herb's honor:

Last night was a bad night. An announcer for a sports team I love, died last week, after being with the team for nearly 40 years of his life. They had his casket at home plate of the ballpark last night and players at the end of the ceremony passed his casket down, while playing a sad song, into the hearse, driven out of the ballpark for the last time....
I'm good though now, thanks Mattie :). Btw, I'm going to respond to your PM in a min.

Yeah man, that sucks too. My monitor on mine broke 3 times lol; damn, cheap laptop LCD screens. I'm looking at a desktop now for $400-500, an HP, cause I don't like Dell, and then I'll buy a new laptop, or fix mine up and sell it, when I get more money for both. That's weird about it overheating THAT much, I've had bad luck with electronics, and computers specifically, and never have had that problem. That's a new one. Try taking it to the store and telling them it's overheating, unless it's so old that, that's its nature. Damn computers ...
It's over and a year and a half old so it's past warranty.
I'm probably going to try to buy the laptop I wanted last week through walmart.com's bill me later option. I checked at the rent-to-own place today and they were "out of computers", like WTF.
The overheating doesn't seem to be nearly as bad today(probably because I'm not staring at Speedfan the whole time I'm on). I've got the fan going still but changed the setup so it's not so annoying. I went to Wal-Mart and saw cooling pads for $30 but wasn't going to pay that much. Found some canned air but it didn't mention the inside of the computer, only the keyboard so I decided not to get it.

Seriously, WHAT KIND OF SADISTIC BASTARD SCHEDULES ORIENTATION AT THAT HOUR?? Come on, people. I WORK OVERNIGHTS. I've been working overnights since 2007! Think about this for a minute here. Are you in hs cause in college where I'm at now, the spring semester starts in late January-early February. We get a christmas break when the winter semester is over in late December before Christmas, then it runs for a month until the spring semester starts in late January. We get a week off for Spring Break which I don't think we need, cause we have a month off for Christmas break already, and that's around mid March-April. Our spring sem. is over the second week in May usually; this year the last day I go is May 15th, then we have the summer off until middle of September- then the Winter Sem. runs its course again.
And what classes do you have (these finals in), btw? just curious.
No, my school considers the Jan-April semester Winter Semester. Spring, or Summer Session I, as they are now calling it, is from the beginning of May - end of June, and Summer Session II is end of June - mid-August. My final tonight was in Federal Income Taxation. Monday is Managerial Finance and Tuesday is Intermediate Accounting II.

high school kids need to be booted from the roads once and for all. bad drivers come in all ages, but it's usually kids who throw childish tantrums at you through whatever method they can if you honk at them for doing something wrong. but to keep it fair and balanced, senior citizens are the ones who drive 10 miles under the speed limit with their blinkers on and seem to think that the lines on the road aren't there for a reason. seriously, whenever i see someone like that i check to see if the driver is old, and they usually are.
:clap
I HATE old people who drive slow more than anything.
Oh and people of all ages who follow you right on your freaking tail.

You'll get the next one, Monika. Even though I know you are a great worker to start with, try to be an even better one. Look at your work performance and see what areas that you may be able to improve it. Since there is no such thing as the perfect worker, there are always areas where each and everyone of us can improve. When you apply fo the next job, they'll say to themselves, Monika was always a really good worker, but the last couple of months she has gotten even better. Good luck!

On Monday I have to go to the dentist to have my chipped tooth worked on. I'll be happy to have it fixed, because it hurts like something terrible. I've had the worst week because of this tooth. The other night I woke up and it felt like someone was kicking me in the face. Still, I have always been afraid of the dentist. Pretty silly, I know.

I had the windows open for hours late last night and until I went to bed at 4am because it was very cool out, and so I could turn the A/C off. I bet that's what did it. I was only outside briefly because it was so hot during the day. Feeling a bit better now, took some aspirin. Mine was a sore throat and feeling of a clogged nose.

note to men: when you start getting involved with a girl, keep physical distance until you've established a good emotional connection with her. some won't have that preference but the ones who do are likely to still be too shy of you to outright resist it. very bad risk to take. i was really just trying to give another whack at dating and thought he had potential for it...guess he thought i was a lot more serious than i was. if some things had just happened in the reverse order that they did, i likely wouldn't have stepped out of it.

My girlfriend and I stopped their yesterday and decided to dine in. The service and food were fine but the minute we opened the door someone shouted
WELCOME TO ARBY'S!
While we were there about 10 more customers walked in and each time someone shouted it out again and to make matters worse another worker in the back had to do their best impersonation of an echo and repeat it also as loud as they could. I can understand wanting to have a friendly atmosphere but that was overkill. Why not have a sign on each door saying Welcome to Arby's and another when you leave saying Thank you for visiting Arby's

I enjoy Arby's but I always find the employees to be quite obnoxious as well. I'm not sure if all Arby's have them now, but the one I go to has a bell by the door that says to ring it if you received good service. Everytime someone rings it, all the employees shout "THANK YOU!!!" It's quite annoying after a while. I recently noticed a bell at a KFC, too. I hope this doesn't start in every fast food place.

Remember the dude I had told you guys about earlier? the one I was dating that flipped out on me for staying at my friends house? well over this past week since we got back together he had started acting REALLY strangely.
He was possessive, obsessive and controlling. He would call me every hour and need to see me everyday. He would drive up to my school and be there after I got out of class to see if I needed a ride home. It's started to kind of creep me out, but I liked him so I just translated that into him caring about me and liking me back. All of my friends and family were telling me they didn't get a good vibe from him, and thought he was being controlling, but I didn't listen to them.
Finally, the middle of last week, his true colors came through. It was thursday, the first day I couldn't hang out with him because of a party my friend was throwing for me and I had to go to tutoring before that. He called me about 20 times that day asking me where I was and if I could make any time for him, I kept replying with a polite "not today". Finally that night, I got text saying "U better call me tonight when u get home asap". I replied with "why?" and he "cuz I said so". That right there made me kind of have a reality check but I was still blinded. That night I didn't call him and I got a text at about 10 o 'clock saying he was coming over to my house. I replied back with "please don't" and his response was "I'll be there in 2 minutes". I didn't know what to do, so I just told my parents I was expecting him and went on acting like it was nothing.
The next day I had invited him and his friend out to dinner for my birthday, but when he found out I was inviting his friend he got pissed. He then proceeded to tell me that he wanted me all for himself and I couldn't hang out with any of his guy friends or any other guys for that matter. Hell no. We got into a huge argument and he began to go on about all of this random stuff that had nothing to do with what we were talking about... I mean WEIRD stuff. Like about how these spirits were coming to get him and how people that worked at restaurants were poising his food and people were taping his phone conversations. He then brought me into his house and showed me something- what appeared to be a meth pipe. Sure enough, he had been smoking crystal meth for about six months and recently had been acting out on it. I talked to his friend and he told me that he had been acting especially weird lately. I told him just to drive me home. We talked and I basically told him it wasn't meant to be and I saw a different person tonight then who I had met. He was pissed and said he was going to forget he ever met me... yeah right. About two hours later he called me four times and left me two voice mails saying he was wondering if I wanted to rent a movie with him. What the hell?? the next day he called me twice. Then this morning when I was at my friends house from the night before he apparently walked from him house to mine and knocked on my door at about 6:30 am- luckily my parents didn't hear him. He then proceeded to call me all day, leave me a million text messages as if nothing happened and saying some off the wall stuff. Not to mention another threat to drive to my house.
Currently, I am just ignoring him but I don't know if I should take more affirmative action, but at the same time I don't want to start a huge battle. This guy really gives me the creeps and I don't know what to do...

Ramona, first I would like to say I'm really sorry for all of this. I know I was one of the people who suggested that you call this guy up and see what was going on. In most cases I do think that is the best bet. However, with this guy, it wasn't. This guy doesn't only sound creepy but dangerous. His use Myth makes him an unstable person to say the least. Also, his trext messages sounds like threats. I agree with Wrekless on this one, drop this guy like a bad habit. And if he will not leave you alone, you should go to the police.

This guy really gives me the creeps and I don't know what to do...
he sounds dangerous. go to the police station and tell them what's going on so they can help. what he's doing is serious and illegal. you're doing the right thing by ignoring him but don't take chances.

College book buyback used to always get me angry. During my very first semester of college I took a math course and the textbook cost $100. Since, I have no interest what so ever in math, at the semester's end I sold the text back to the school. You know how much they gave me for it? $25!!!!!!!! I'm like, where's the rest of the money? There were quite a few more cases like this.
Ugh, I freaking hated that. Last year I tried to sell back my books and they wouldn't take them because I wasn't on an athletic scholarship. WTF! Oh and tomorrow I get to try to sell my books again. Joy.

Have you tried selling your books on Amazon? Even with the fees Amazon takes, you always get much more than if you try selling it back to the school.
I wish I'd thought of that when I was still in college.

Yeah, I've been doing it the past few years and it's really paid off. I buy most of my books there, too. The only reason I'd buy one from the school book store is if the text hasn't been announced in advance. I just got one of my books in the mail today for my Spring semester. I paid $85 and the book store is charging $180 for it.

There were a couple of cases in which the textbook wasn't going to be used the following semester so I didn't get any money back.

Okay, I had a dentist's appointment this afternoon at 1:30 to have my chipped tooth looked at. This, of course, meant that I had to leave work to go to the appointment. Since, I'm an houlry employee, if I'm not at work I don't get paid. Which is okay. This tooth has been causing me awful, awful pain! I would give up more than one afternoon's salery to stop the pain.
I get to the dentist's office 15 minutes early. The receptionist, who is new, tells me that my appointment is tomorrow! When I called the dentist office last Wednesday, the receptionist clearly stated that my appointment was Monday, April 27th. The receptionist checks the computer. My appointment was for today. However, she tells me my dentist does not work Mondays! So now I have to go in tomorrow at 12:30, suffer through another 24 hours of pain and lose another afternoon of work.

A new edition would come out where you just know all they changed was the cover or something, so they wouldn't take the book back.
THAT SUCKED.

I used to feel that way too. Once I became a born again Christian though, I realized that I was wrong. I now truly believe that there is good inside everyone and that even the most evil person can change for the better.

That's awesome about becoming a born again Christian but I disagree, sorry. Example, murderers. 99.9% of these serial killers & murderers kill because of family issues & parents treating them like crap and not loving or taking care of them properly or at all. So they kill because it makes them feel good, feel powerful, to respond and to get back from having a bad or messed up childhood & their brains are different- acting in ways that wouldn't happen if parents these days would love their kids, and not beat them to death day and night, negelect them, call them names & make them feel guilty and like crap & become good parents. That's just one example though, but a big one.
I'm with you. It's frightening how easily a human life can be ruined in only the first year of life. And with some of these people, they are such sociopaths that I don't think there are drugs out there hard enough to change them.

I'm really sorry that you're feeling down too, Lauren. Things are going to get better for you. I think we all want to be loved and kissed. Even the happiest person in the world wants affection. That's just human. The most important thing is to love yourself and not care what anyone else thinks. That is the biggest learning experience I took away from Lent this year. I leanred that even though I'm far from perfect, I'm still a pretty good guy. And most important, I like me. If there are people who don't like me, which I know there is, than that is their problem.
