I've been a member of SO for over six years now. I've had some good times and some not so good times. However, since I've gotten back from my Lent sabbatical a week ago, I think I've been having more fun on the boards than I've ever had before. It's been nice to see all my old friends again like Sonny, Michael, Cathy, Monika, Tara, Jenny, Brad, Lauren, Janice (everyone on the FOL fanfic board), ext; as well as getthing to know some cool new people like Kim and Mattie. :)
Thanks Mike, I feel the same way. even though i've been here almost a year now, i think in the past 2 weeks alone i've experienced the most interaction i've ever had with members and i'm really enjoying the new frienships i'm making. :)

I made a pot of sauce and meatballs today. My Italian husband loved it. The house smelled great. I cooked spaghetti and homemade garlic bread. A glass of red wine, of course. He was in Heaven.
reading that made my mouth water:drool: . as a fellow italian, that is a meal made in heaven for me!

my husband knows it too, he'll get me a spaghetti dinner once a week from a local italian eatery. your husband is lucky!

Here's a recent picture of the family at the Hannah Montana movie premiere. Her oldest daughter, Delaney, is really starting to resemble her.

The last note of A Broken Wing is one of the highlights of seeing her live. Over the years it's gotten much stronger. Here's a short video that I took of the last part of the song at a concert a couple years ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Z4E5-JLbnk&feature=channel_page
That's a great picture and excellent video. She held that note for at least 20 seconds. She's a natural. Thanks for posting. :)

I believe she told me she has free long distance. If she didn't, I'd obviously call her, but I figure if we can talk for free, that's better than having to pay. I only make $680.00 a month, so I obviously have to be really careful when it comes to money.

That's a tricky one here in Illinois. If an ambulance is coming from the opposite direction, you have to pull over, unless there is a some sort divider seperating the two steets, than you don't have to pull over.

my boss told me yesterday morning she is pregnant. i'm so happy for her. she found out a week ago.

she's been going through invitro procedures in the last couple months as her and her husband are infertile otherwise. moreso her husband, he used to work at a plant or factory and was exposed to some chemical agents that have made his "swimmers" fewer and slower.

they have been trying for ten years and i never met anyone who deserves to be a mother more than her. she just loves children to pieces, you can see it in her eyes when she interacts with the kids here at the shelter and how they respond back to her. they actually shriek in excitement when they see her and run into her arms. i'm so very happy for her.

she finds out next week how many she's actually carrying. i think they implanted 3 embryos but not all of them always "take" or in some cases they can divide after being implanted. i hope it is a number that is condusive to a healthy pregnancy. i'm a little sad though as she plans on leaving here toward the end of her pregnancy (or possibly earlier depending on how her pregnancy progresses)and not coming back.

she wants to raise her family in another state (shes from the midwest, so maybe closer to home) but i know that choice is going to make her happy so thats what matters.

Great job, Michael! :) I had a few miserable old men for professors too. I took Introduction to Western Culture in 1998, and DAMN the professor was annoying. Even his syllabus was obnoxious! During his so called lextures, he would have the entire class put thier desks in a circle so everyone could see each other. It was so grammer school. It was like storytime in the first grade. If there was a student who hadn't done the homework, or hadn't done it to his expectations, he would make them sit outside of the circle.

My husband and I go to the same medical facility, but have different doctors. Actually it's a huge place with 30 locations. We've been going there for a year. My husband really likes his doctor, while I'm not that crazy over mine. She's nice, but doesn't have the experience to treat a chronic pain patient (CPP), like myself. I suffer from Fibromyalgia, which causes all over body pain. I also have terrible spine pain, from my neck. My pain is undertreated as far as medications go, and my doctor wouldn't budge. My husband would always tell his doctor about his sick wife, and he once asked his doctor to take me on as a patient. His doctor said no because it would be a conflict of interest. That always struck me as bs, because doctors treat entire families. I know from experience that doctors don't want to take on CPPs, as their situations are complicated. We're hot potatoes.
My doctor got pregnant. My husband asked his doctor if he would treat me while my doctor was out on maternity leave for three months. His doctor agreed to that.
My doctor had her baby last weekend. I met with my husband's doctor yesterday. It was supposed to be a 20 minute follow-up, but I ended up sitting with him for an hour. I basically poured my heart out to this man, cried a little at one point. He had never met me, yet sometimes putting a face to the name changes things. "Sick wife" turns into a human being sitting next to you who needs help. It was really more like a therapy session. He asked me what I wish I could now that I could do before I got sick. I told him grocery shopping. My husband has taken that over. It's too much for me with the carrying, reaching, pushing, etc.
I had hoped to win over my husband's doctor while my doctor was out on maternity leave. I even had Brad praying on it, lol. Well, today the doctor called me, about something else. I mustered up all my courage and I said to him. "Doctor, would you consider taking me on as your patient permanently? I really like Dr. Smith, but I think you have a better handle on chronic pain patients." He then said to me. Drumroll please.... "Sure, we can do that." I almost screamed with glee, but I had to compose myself, lol.
He then immediately increased my pain medication. I'm so happy. Your prayers worked Brad. Thank you! I called you immediately to tell you, but you weren't around. I finally have a doctor who thinks it unacceptable to have a patient suffer when it can be avoided. I think what changed his mind was meeting me and knowing he can help me. He also really likes my husband. That's why I feel good today. :)

That's a little extreme for high school. I did have a second grade tecaher that did something like that. At the beginning of the day she would draw a circle on the blackboard and if someone was caught talking, they had to go up to the front of the class and face the board and put their nose in the circle. One day my friend Kelly and I were caught talking and the teacher told us to to go to the board. "Michael and Kelly, please go to the board." The class loved it because it was a double header. It wasn't unusual for one person a day to be sent to the board, but not two.

That's great Janice that you got Lou's doctor to be your doctor. :) That building sounds large. I think it's a shame that some doctors don't want to take on patients if they feel the patient is a "hard patient". People who have complicated medical conditions deserve just as much help from a doctor as a person whose medical condition is simple and not chronic or severe. Even I find it hard to find doctors who will take me on, particularly vision wise because my eye conditions are complicated and chronic. My Glaucoma unfortunately won't just disappear nor will all the cornea nerve damage I have as a result of the Glaucoma. Add Cataracts, Aniridia, Stignatism, and massive cornea and tissue damage that's enough to boggle even a specialist's mind. I have had eye doctors give up on me and tell me there's no hope.

I really hope this new doctor will help, Janice. You deserve to live without pain.

Oh my goodness Janice, I am sooooooooooooo happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D I'm actually tingling right now, and smiling from ear to ear. Thank you God for answering our prayers!!!!!!! I prayed about it everyday Janice, and I just hoped that it was in His will for you to have this doctor. I just knew you would get it though, because nobody should have to deal with the kind of pain you've been dealing with for so long now. I'm so happy, if I didnt have roomates, I would scream!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best news I've heard in awhile, and I truly am soooooo happy for you Janice. My hope is that you can now live a more normal life!! Thank you God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Hallmark and bought my mother a Mother's Day plaque and a super cute pink Mother's Day bear that is holding fake pink flowers.
The plaque is lovely, Jenny, very hearfelt and and sincere. The bear sounds adorable too. I'm sure she'll love them. :)

That's FABULOUS news Janice! I knew there had to be at least one of those doctors left in the world! Let's hope he can really help you!

I grabbed the mail today and got a nice little surprise in it. Someone sent me an Angel For Hope. It's a beautiful little blue crocheted angel with a red heart on it on a card that reads:

"Someone special requested you receive this 'Angel For Hope' so you would know you are cared about and loved. Our thoughts and prayers are with you."

I haven't a clue as to who it might be, but I'm sure they're from SO. It came from Palmyra, PA.

Whoever it was, I love it and you. It's going to be put on the front of my monitor so I can look at it often throughout the day. It also came at a perfect time - I go back for my last tests tomorrow and so far, things are looking very good!! Your prayers are working people!!

Well, I got moved to a different desk today (at my request). HOPEFULLY it'll be quieter in this new spot and I can concentrate. As an added bonus, it's away from the email team and I don't have to look at the person (who really is a nice guy) who got the job I applied for without seething.

I am very thankful to my boss. Since I was missing so much work this week, and was only going to miss more, Wednsday she just put me on sick leave for the rest of the week and told me to go home and take it easy for the rest of the week. Even though I am an hourly employee and not salery, I still get sick pay as part of my benifits. I will be paid for Wednesday - Friday this week.

The special on Michael J. Fox looks really good. I saw him on Leno a few weeks ago and Michael gave a great interview. You really have to admire a person who has had so much bad luck thrown their way, but still remains so optimistic.

I was unable to move out because of the fear hanging over me that I might be laid off. I was going to do it anyway, because I really want to be on my own, but everyone thought it was a bad idea at this point. However, I have been saving up every single penny I earn and by the end of the year I am moving out no matter what. If I end up getting laid off, I'll have those saving to fall back on.

Two CD's I ordered came in the mail today. One is a Golden World Recrods comp, and the other is a Ric Tic comp(Golden World was out of Detroit in the mid 60's and Ric Tic was its subsidiary). I think I've come up with an idea that will make a very interesting novel. I've been reading Patricia Kennealy's book Strange Days: My Life With And Without Jim Morrison. I've never really wanted to read this book, because Kennealy's claims that she had a long romantic relationship with Morrison have never been proven. She did have some sort of relationship with him, but it was over after a short while. This is a book by someone who wants to convince both herself and the public that much more happened between her and Morriosn than what actually did.

I decided to go ahead and read the book and am enjoying it even though much of it is clearly farfetched. What interests me is the idea of a young rock critic in the late 1960's. Kennealy joined the magazine Pop & Sound in 1968 and was made an editor less then a year after joining at only 22 years of age. The idea of this young rock critic writing for an underground magainze during a very exciting time both musically and socially really interests me and I think it would make a great novel.

100 emails! I wish I recieved that many emails!

No, you definitely don't want to be getting the 100 emails that I got. About 80 percent of them were spam, and from people from Nigeria telling me they want to send money to my bank account. In reality, only about 20 of the emails I received were even worth reading.

I feel great right now, because Mattie, (beautifuldreamer) did something for me that totally touched my heart!!!!! She posted a picture of herself on her myspace page, and she was holding a sign that said get well soon Brad, since I had been sick, and it had a huge heart on it. :D I just saw the picture about 20 minutes ago, and still have tears rolling down my face. Mattie is such a huge hearted, and sweet person, and I am so blessed to have her as a friend!!! Words can't even express how much your loving gesture meant to me. Like I said to you Mattie, I'm going to look at that picture whenever I'm feeling down, and I know that seeing your beautiful smile, and your big beautiful brown eyes, and reading your kind words, will make me feel better. :) Much love to you my friend, you are truly amazing!!!

You're absolutely right, it's very rare that you meet someone as loving, and genuine as her. As far as I'm concerned, people like her are one in a million. And it's true, her inner beauty definitely matches her physical beauty, I totally agree with you there.

Awww, Brad, you are too much! I certainly didn't expect you to make a huge deal out of this... I just was feelin really down about you being sick and all... and I just thought... how can I possibly help? So, I had some extra time last Saturday, so I pulled out some paper and markers and made the sign, then I took a picture of myself holding it (which proved to be a difficult task. ). I just thought it might seem more real for you... to know that I really do care, rather than me just typing, "I hope you feel better." Anyway, much love to you as well, my dear... you are such a special person, Brad... which is why I made the extra effort... cause I think you're so incredibly awesome! ;) And I'm really glad you're feeling better... the place hasn't the same without you... myspace OR SO!! :D You're AMAZING!!

P.S. Kimberlee and Mike: I love you guys! You are too sweet, and I hope you know I feel the same way about you guys... you are very special to me.

i'm glad you were able to get some stuff off your chest mike, i think sometimes the best remedy is to have a friend as a sounding board - to have an objective third party help us put things into perspective to help see a clearer picture. i know jenny is very smart and has dispensed some great advice in the past.

my boss is having twins! i'm so happy for her. shes wanted to have kids for so long, shes tried for 10 years, and after finally resorting to invitro she's going to have twins! nobody deserves to be a mother more than her. i know its rare to like your boss, but i absolutely love mine. she is such a warm, laidback, down to earth person. there is nothing pretentious or phoney or intimidating about her. i know now that the chances of her staying on after having the kids is slim, and although i'm so happy for her its bittersweet because i'm going to miss her so much, i get so sad thinking we won't have many morning chats left. i never liked where i worked so much until i worked for her. but God bless her and her soon to be family.

Phantom, my favorite play of all time. I've seen it six times at the Wang Center in Boston. It's a gorgeous theatre. That play rips my heart out. It's got it all....loss, unrequited love, romance, and the best music ever. I have the CD, and I know every note by heart. I've got the Phantom mug, that turns his mask white when coffee is poured in, lol. I've got the Phantom fridge magnet. Yeah, I love that play. Have you seen it before?

Your prayers are working people!!

the play itself - absolutley wonderful. best stage performance i've ever seen. just beautiful beyond words - all aspects of it.

the night however, was from HELL. my husband had been in a bad mood all day, grouchy and snapping at me. i brushed it off. but by the time we were in the car on the way there, it really came to a head. he isn't familiar with the area where the theatre is and i was trying to direct him and he started raising his voice and being really sarcastic, but in a mean way. finally, i started crying, really hard. did he care? no. so after we parked i proceeded to walk up the street crying, people looking at me, him not caring. and that is how the whole night went. it was very sad for me. i watched all these other couples in the theatre, holding hands, cuddling, whispering, laughing, smiling. but us - nothing. we are still not talking and don't think we will be for a long while. thinking of leaving for a while and staying at my sisters.

I'm gald that you enjoyed the show, Kim. :)

In regards to the argument between you and your husband, I'm really sorry. I think it would be best to sit down and talk with him. Tell him how you feel. Leaving and going to staying with your sister is taking the esay way out. I don't mean that as a put down, Kim, because I am someone who takes the easy way out by trying to run away from my problems and it almost never solves anything. Sometimes it even makes the problem worse. I think the best thing to do is to sit down with him and talk it out before it can have the chance to get worse.

If you need someone to talk to, remember that I'm always here for you. :)

going to get out of my dead end job. i love my work, but being a security guard is really a nowhere job, there is no advancement and i've been stuck at $9 for 4 years now. i think its the right time, the shelter is going through big changes and my boss will be leaving soon to have her babies so i'm going to start school this summer, hopefully there is still time to sign up. i'm going to enter a program for phlebotomy at a local community college. its a relatively short program, 6 classes and 16 credits is all it takes. one of the clients at the shelter just finished the same program a few months ago and now has a job for $18 an hour. she's moving out this weekend to her own apartment.

Good luck, Kim. :) I think a change in careers may be just what you need to put some sunshine back in your life. Though I enjoy my job, I certainly don't want to be doing it for the rest of my life either. That's why I went back to school last semester. I wasn't able to take courses this semester, but in fall I will be taking more.

I'm not sure you should go during the summer though. Summer school is very, very difficult because they jam a whole semester of material into like six weeks. I attempted a course last summer and had to drop it because I could not keep up. If the program requires you to attend during the summer, than I guess you'll have to, but if it doesn't, I would wait until fall. Good luck. :)

Also, since my new doctor is working with me regarding medications, I feel much better. As a result, I can do more. For dinner, I'm cooking a nice Italian meal for my nice Italian husband. Chicken marsala. Yum, I'm using portabella mushrooms. Also, penne pasta with marinara sauce, and garlic bread, of course. A little red wine, and there's no telling what may happen. ;)

I work in the business and social sciences building at a local community college. I work in the division office. I like it but it can be dull sometimes. I help students and do office work. Also, I'm not putting my college degree to use. I have a four your degree in Early American history and the job I do requires an Associates at most. Its a high school required, Associates perferred sort of job. I started a year and a half ago at the college in the registration office. That was a registration clerk position. It paid $10 an hour and required only a high school education. Since you're making $9 an hour, I think you'll agree with me that $9, $10 an hour really isn't great pay.

I was in college for six and a half years. I didn't ever think I would graduate! My goal is to be a history professor, but that requires a master's. That is what I am working on now. Even high schools perfer a master's degree these days. Its not required but its perferred. Not that I would want to teach in a high school, anyway. Besides, high schools are looking for recent college graduates to be teachers. They are looking fo 22, 23 year olds. I am 10 years too old for that.

Anyway, about six months after I started in registration I applied for a higher paying position in the office. I didn't get it. It was given to a girl (she's 30 actually) who started the same time as me named Melissa. I was disappointed at first but after I thougth it over, I decided that it was Melissa who deserved it. I was doing really good work, but Melissa was better. While I would ask a lot of questions, Melissa tended to think out of the box more. So I worked on being an even better worker, started to work on thinking out of the box a little more, and two months later I applied fo another higher paying position and got it! I went from earning $10 an hour to $15 an hour. Last November I transferred to a similar position in the division office in the social sciences building.

Still, after all the years I put in getting my bachelor's degree, I ought to really be using it. I still haven't had a job that has required my degree. People have warned me that might be held against me one day since many places look at experience as much as education. Let's say I actually applied at a high school for a history teacher position, they very well could be like, "You've had a bachelor's for like 6 years now. Why haven't you used it". Pretty soon it may not be worth the paper it is written on. That is really starting to worry me.

My current job also isn't very challenging. Also, I just really love history and want to teach it. Well, this is probably a longer answer than you wanted, Kim.

I haven't rapped in close to 10 years, back when I made my demo tape, and am sure I'm nowhere close to Kyle's level, but I am interested in seeing if Iv'e still got it or not. Thanks again for the offer Kyle, and like I said, I will give it some serious consideration!! :)

No problem man- glad you're doing good as well..we're friends, track or no track.

i'm working on my flow & then once i master that and my mic presence, i'm getting in the studio again or getting a new mic to record on...and working on a mixtape leading up to my demo, then my first album...

Track? flow? mic? mixtape? demo? What are these technical terms you speak of?
From what I understand, it sounds awesome that you two are collaborating... I didn't even know you rapped, Brad!!... yet ANOTHER talent?!?! :D

To be honest with you Mattie, until I told Kyle, nobody in my life other than family, knew I use to rap. Only reason I told Kyle is because I found out on the boards that he was a rapper, and I pm'ed him because I thought it was cool that we had that in common. The main reason I never told anyone is because most of my friends are older, and dislike, some even detest rap music, so I figured that if I told them, they'd either laugh at me, or look down on me.

I actually first got interested in rap at the age of 10. I still remember the first rap album I ever heard, it was LL Cool J's Walking with A Panther, The second was Ice Cube's Amerika's Most Wanted. Yes, I know, old school Ice Cube is a little advanced for a 10 year old, lol!! but I was able to look past the profanities, and hear what he was really talking about, and at that point, I was hooked. It wasn't until the age of 14 that I actually started rapping, and writing raps, and I mostly sang about the problems I was going through in my life. I wasn't looking to be some big rap star or anything, it was more just a way for me to express what I was going through. I guess you can even say it was a form of therapy for me.

It wasn't until the age of 18 that I decided to record my stuff, and I made a tape with 11 of my songs on it. I told Kyle this story, but I actually played the tape for my mom without telling her it was me. She was bopping her head, and really getting into it. I asked her if she knew who it was, and she said no, and when I told her it was me, she just about fell out of her seat. She actually thought it was a real rapper. I wrote several other songs after I recorded the tape, Iv'e actually written about 30 songs, but I never recorded any again after that. I didn't like what was happening to rap music, so I kind of lost interest. Not saying there aren't any quality rappers out there today, because I know there are, but rap changed overall from people singing about things that actually meant something, to guys just singing about their bling bling, and their women. So I just stopped relating, and kind of lost interest.

Thanks for the comment about me having talent, I appreciate it, but in reality I don't really have many talents. The few talents I do have though, I tend to put my all into, and so I'm actually very good with the few talents I do have. I do appreciate your kind words though, and thank you for saying that. :) So anyway, that's basically the story of me and rap music for what it's worth. lol!!

Jenny recently sent me an Angel pin. It's just so pretty. Thanks again, Jenn.

A little red wine, and there's no telling what may happen. ;)

 I had my "Janice Taters" again last night with pork loin and peas - was it ever good!!! Got some leftover tonight that I'm looking forward to. I think of Janice everytime I eat them. Was going to ask at the store about them but I think they'd look at me strange if I asked for Janice potato mix. LOL

Glad to hear your meds are working better!

And you SWEETY - you're the secret angel who sent me an angel! :bighug:

I had some paid vacation time left so I took today off. I finished reading Patricia Kennealy's Jim Morrison book and started rereading Stephen King's The Gunslinger. I also listened to some music (The Rolling Stones and Sara Evans) and just had a very relaxing day. And I got paid for it! :)

my dad was recognized at work yesterday in a ceremony celebrating his 40 years of employment at the mdc (they put in water mains). he started in 1968 (it was a year overdue:lol: ) and has been there ever since. when he was hired he began in the lowest position you could be and he is now a project engineer.

i mentioned my husband and i got in an argument the night we went to see phantom of the opera. however, we made up friday. anyway, i went to my brother in law's birthday party tonight while my husband went to his mothers for a visit. he got home before me at 6pm and when i got home at 10:30 i walked in to the kitchen and he had a vase filled with a bouquet he bought me while i was out. there was a card as well, it was a mothers day card and the envelope read "my mommy, kim" and the card said "love, daisy & daddy". (daisy is my yorkie.) i think that is the most romantic things hes ever done and it was so unexpected. my heart melted!! i fell in love with my husband all over again tonight.

Last night my friend had a birthday party. Afterwards it was decided to move the party to a place where we could get some drinks. Since I am broker than the ten commandments I was planning on going home and reading a book. The birthday girl L(not her real name), and her husband C(not his real name either)asked me would I take them there and back home. Normally it would have been no problem, but I told them my situation, and they insisted I go because it was L's birthday and she wanted me there and they would even buy me a drink. Then they pulled me into the big group hug. They are probably two of my closest friends on the planet and it made me feel real special.

I better stop I'm on the verge of tears of joy :)

I love your Star Trek III avatar. I think that is a very underrated movie. With the exception of The Wrath of Khan it is my favorite of the 10 films. That film had the scariest Klingons ever. Who ever thought that Christopher Lyodd could be so scary? James Horner's score is first rate.
