What a pleasant surprise, Brad! I'm glad you made it there safely. I miss you already. Ahhh, you got Cat's neckplace (choker). She rocks! She makes those with her own hands, from her big heart. I know she spent a lot of time on it. I have my necklace draped over my bedroom lampshade, and I also think of her every time I look at it.

I miss you too Janice, ALOT!!! I'm going to get some cell phone minutes soon, so we can chat for a bit and hear each others voices. :) I'm a little distracted right now because I have a bird behind me that's talking. I think he just cussed at me. I'm serious!!

Anyway, you're so right about Cathie, she is absolutely awesome, and one of the most beautiful people in the world, both inside and out!! As I told her, that was one of the, if not the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received. :) And to think that she took the time to make it with her own hands, makes it even more special. I love you Cat, and I will treasure your gift forever with all my heart, and never forget it's meaning. Thank you again my dear friend!!!

So glad Brad got the choker before he left for Arizona! I raced to get it in the mail to make sure it got there in time. I would have made the "presentation" nicer (i.e. a gift box wrapped up) but knew the boys at Homeland Security would want a gander at it and it would just hold it up.

Also really happy that you both like them. Actually it gave me an idea that if I can't get work soon, maybe I could sell some of what I've made to help me out along the way.

I feel good again today 'cause I got my tax refund and they gave me back about $100 more than I had calculated so that's always a nice surprise. Also, because I filed by phone, I got the return in 10 days. I'll hand them that - they've gotten a lot more efficient at Canada Revenue!

Now, I plan to get a North America calling plan as soon as I'm back working so I can call all you guys anytime. I especially owe Lauren a couple of calls. I miss hearing that sexy southern drawl! ;)

 at the bird swearing at you Brad!

Last night, my husband and I watched an entire season of Showtime's original series, Dexter. We watched 11 episodes (50 minutes each), and stayed up until 8am, lol. It was a blast. Every couple of hours, we'd take a break, and I'd make us snacks. Tea and toast, yogurt, ice cream sandwiches, popcorn, etc. It was like a pajama party. We had a lot of laughs, and some tears as the show can be very emotional at times. We slept until 2:30, and we feel pretty good today.

Go for it, Brad. There's nothing like it. We had ordered a pizza earlier for dinner, so we eating those leftovers at around 5am. Every few hours, it was a fridge raid. Of course, Mr. Couch Potato aka Lou, gets to sit there while I'm getting the snacks ready. We were going to go to bed at 4am, then I said, "Listen, we have nothing to do tomorrow. Let's just finish it off." So, it was a conscious decision to stay up until 8am. Even our cats were up with us. It was funny, they were awake, getting up and down on the sofas, snuggling with us. At one point, I was even giving them cat treats, lol.

You know, I really think I will try to arrange something like that. Hey, I'm a night owl anyway, might as well spend a fun night with someone I care about, instead of sitting here by myself all night like I normally do. I just need to think of someone to do this with. Can't be Donna since she works 6 days a week, can't be my brother for the same reason. But hey, I always have good o'l mom, I'm sure she'd love to stay up all night one night watching her favorite movies and shows. Sounds like a plan!! :D

Well, I'm going home today - my neighborhood is fine. The worst was water on the streets... however, they had to close all 3 streets leading to my house, so it was a good thing they evacuated us when they did. A bunch of neighborhoods near me had far worse, and we were really close by.

However, Fargo/Moorhead is gonna be REALLY ****ed soon...

choir practice tonight went great. the lady next to me kept commenting what a pretty voice i had. the girl on the other side of me asked me if i already knew one of the songs we started working on and i said no (i was just reading the sheet music) and she said i'm a really good sight reader. i've been in a really good mood ever since. comments like that mean much more to me than one would think.

That's awesome Sarah, I'm glad tonight turned out so well for you!! It sounds like you obviously have alot of talent. I always wished I could sing, but was never given that talent, so I admire people who can. Wish I could hear you sing sometime, that would be really cool!! :)

I'm feeling good cuz I seem to be over the worst of this flu and I got great news from my great country yesterday afternoon.:happyface

Just as I was starting to really panic about income since my employment insurance benefits ran out about a month ago and I've been living off whatever I had left from my settlement with Frank, I got a letter from Services Canada saying they're automatically re-activating my claim to run another 5 weeks longer. I don't even have to apply for it. They had been talking about extending benefits during this rough period, but I figured it would be eaten up by the recently laid off and especially the auto workers, but it turns out it's for everyone.

You can say what you want about my country, but I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!!! and wouldn't live anywhere else in the world permanently.!!!

I just got an Easter card from my mom. Here's what it says:

Somehow we always say the least to those we love the best, And hope our thoughts are understood although they're not expressed... That's why it means so very much when Easter time is here, to say how very much you're loved each day throughout the year! Happy Easter! I love you so very much! Love Mom.

I love you too mom. You're my Angel!!!

i love my husband. he's the best man in the whole world. he didn't do anything special, its just the little things he does everyday that he makes me feel so loved. i'm not feeling like myself since i had some weight gain, i keep comparing myself to how his late wife looked and how i myself used to look, and he treats me like a queen. he constantly dotes on me and thinks of me. i love you marvin miller!
I'm so happy for you. Your husband does sound like a wonderful man. I never forget that my husband adores me. The world and life may be kicking the crap out of me, but it the midst of all the madness, there he is, making me feel special. We're lucky women, you and I. :)

You recommended this movie to me years ago. I could never find it to rent, so I finally ended up buying it. Though, I STILL haven't watched it. This post now just reminded me that I really need to do that sometime soon!
If you like old movies, this is a real good one. It's a real character driven movie, with a nice soundtrack. Both Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick were nominated for Best Lead Acting Oscars that year. I think Lemmon gives the performance of his career. It's a sad movie, and it's a love story. I've seen it at least a dozen times, and I cry every time I see it, as if it's the first time.

LOL Brent, you're funny. Glad you enjoyed your shower and welcome to the weekend, almost!

Jenny, everything wasn't a dollar, although I wish it was, lol. In fact, I don't think anything was at all. We bought Lou some underwear and socks. Also a couple of packs of t-shirts. They were two to a package, $7 each. We both got two pairs of slippers, $6 each, so it all adds up quickly. I got some of Lou's foot spray. He's gotta have his foot spray, lol. Some pet supplies. It was over in a flash. I let Lou off the hook for my MRI. I'm a pro now, lol. He dropped me off at the place and went for a haircut. Afterwards, we went to eat at a seafood place. I am glad it's over. I'm anxious about the results. No surprises, God, you hear me? ;)

Today I was at the library looking for books when someone wanted me to reccomend something to him. We were in the biography section, and I picked a LBJ bio for him. He seemed impressed and I hope he likes it. That made me feel good to do that for him, and that someone asked me to reccomend a book for them. :) :) :)

Thank you Janice for the reassurance. I was looking for that. Its been about a week since I posted that and it was still bothering me until I read your response tonight.

He tries so hard to make me happy but thankfully hes also very understanding.

I felt so feminine dressing up as I'm always in my work uniform or pjs/loungewear (aren't they so comfy though?) but i have such a stylish wardrobe and never get to wear it.

I've been giving so much stuff out of my closet away (mostly purses and shoes) to the women at the shelter because i never wear it. most of the stuff has tags still on it or is pristine and has never been worn.

Anyway I've had some self image issues lately, so it was nice to dress up for him and him take notice. A few days later while he was working he texted me out of the blue to tell me how pretty I looked on the beach

Yes, it is great seeing you back Mike. You're one of the nicest members around, and things truly aren't the same without you. :)

I feel good because I had a great day today. Janice sent me a card a couple weeks ago, and in it, it said that Priests would be doing Novena's for me starting on Easter. The prayers are working, and I feel good. I'm also happy because I realized that I don't need to take any time away from SO. I have too many friends here, and don't want to be away from them for two weeks. I can work things out in my life, and still post here. I'm here to stay!! :D

Well, her album was #1 the first week, but unfortunately it seems to be slowly sliding down the charts. It seems that success is harder to hold onto for females over 40 in the country industry. But her new song "Ride" did just enter the top 10, which is awesome. The signature hit of her career would definitely be "Independence Day."

Wow, that video just blew me away! I know the song, by the chorus. Did or does a radio personality use that for their show? I seem to recall it from a few years ago. Shawn Hannity, perhaps? Absolutely!! I even mentioned in my long letter to Sarah when I came back, that not keeping in contact with you, was my biggest regret. There were others I really regretted not keeping in contact with as well, but you and I have been tight for years now, and I felt a void in my heart without you. I promise you though, we'll never lose contact again, no matter what's going on in my life. It really is a great video. It won Video of the Year at the CMA's that year. Yep, it was Hannity who used it daily for a while. Gretchen Peters, the writer of the song, left the question of whether or not the woman lives unanswered. In Martina's eyes, the woman lives. I think most people tend to think that she died, though. I definitely prefer her with long hair, it makes her look much younger.

Here is another one of her big hits, A Broken Wing. Again, people thought the woman in this song died, and Martina said, "Here we go again...". But the woman in this song very much lives.

Even though "Independence Day" is probably a signature song for Martina, as Michael said, I think her most known song is probably "Valentine" from 1997. This was a big crossover hit for Martina. I remember hearing this song before I even really knew who Martina was.

It's a shame that Shine isn't doing better. I checked Billboard. com and they have the album listed at #7 on the country album chart and #37 on the Billbaord top 200 album chart. There are a lot of people out there who are missing out on some really great music.

Another fantastic video. Thanks for posting. I was just reading up on her on imdb. I'm sure you know it all (and our other Mike as well, lol). She's a tiny gal, at 5'2". Married since 1988, she really spaced out the birth of her three girls. I'm not into her style of music, yet after watching those videos, I wonder why not, and maybe I am.

You know, its got me thinking (LOOK OUT ). So many stand-up comedians, and some singers get into acting. I've just recently discovered Reba McEntire's sitcom, and I really enjoy it. Perhaps one day, when Martina tires of touring, that may be an option. She's got the looks, that's for sure. I don't know if she has any acting ability. Reba really looks like she's just playing herself.

Martina is stunning. Really, a total knockout, and she can really belt them out. The way she held that last note on A Broken Wing, was amazing.

I took an antibiotic years ago with a terrible taste. The strange thing was that the pill itself was tiny, and I mean tiny, yet it tasted like bad feet. I've been meaning to ask you, Monika. I'm glad you liked it. I've been to Martina shows several times and met her once, and yep, she really is tiny. It's amazing to see her belt out songs the way she does. She's very committed to her family. She only tours during the summers, and on weekends during the rest of the year, so she can stay home and just be "Mom" for her girls during their school weeks. When she used to do her annual Christmas tours, her daughters were always a big part of that show, too.

People have asked her about doing a sitcom or Broadway someday. She said it's not something she would consider right now, but maybe after her girls are grown. I think she'd be great at it.

Here's a recent picture of the family at the Hannah Montana movie premiere. Her oldest daughter, Delaney, is really starting to resemble her.

The last note of A Broken Wing is one of the highlights of seeing her live. Over the years it's gotten much stronger. Here's a short video that I took of the last part of the song at a concert a couple years ago.

I didn't actually know that Martina was that short. Ive seen her in concert twice , but unlike Michael, I have not had the privilege of meeting her. It would be an honor to get to talk to her though, to tell her how much her music means to me and how it has gotten me through some difficult times. I think that is the thing about Martina's music that is so special, it is very inspirational and really makes you feel good about both yourself and life. I think making people feel good is a big part of what she tries to do with her music. You can tell with album titles like Waking Up Laughing and Shine that she wants her fans to feel good.

Martina can really carry a note. One of my favorite songs of hers is a new song she recorded for her 2001 Greatest Hits album called "Where Would You Be", where she really carries that last note out. When she performs that song in concert she must hold that last note out for like 15 seconds. It's amazing!

thanks mattie, she is suffering from clinical depression but its a day to day thing though lately shes been feeling a little better. so your prayers are stll very much needed and deeply appreciated:)

I'm sorry to hear about your sister, Kim. Even though I've gone through my own periods of depression, I've never suffered from clinical depression, but I can still imagine what it must be like for her. I'm happy to hear that she is feeling a little better. That is a step in the right direction.

I've been a member of SO for over six years now. I've had some good times and some not so good times. However, since I've gotten back from my Lent sabbatical a week ago, I think I've been having more fun on the boards than I've ever had before. It's been nice to see all my old friends again like Sonny, Michael, Cathy, Monika, Tara, Jenny, Brad, Lauren, Janice (everyone on the FOL fanfic board), ext; as well as getthing to know some cool new people like Kim and Mattie. :)

Hey, thanks Mike! Right back at ya!;) I couldn't have said it better myself... Since I've come back from my Lenten sabbatical, I've gotten to know everyone so much better, and even though I've only been here a few months, I feel like I've been here for years.:D You guys are a really awesome group of people, and, well, I guess I just want to say that I'm really proud to know you all.

Yep, and I sure enjoyed every bit of it. Like I said in the member association thread, you have such a nice voice, you're sweet, and you have a GREAT personality. We talked for about an hour and a half, and I enjoyed every second of it. Now I know why Janice always says she has such a blast talking to you!! :D

Thanks Brad for the kind words. :) It was nice talking to you. :)

Everybody's talking! If this keeps up, the site may have to shut down. Yes, Jenny is a sweetheart to talk with. She's a great listener. Same goes for you, Brad.

I made a pot of sauce and meatballs today. My Italian husband loved it. The house smelled great. I cooked spaghetti and homemade garlic bread. A glass of red wine, of course. He was in Heaven.
