I hate this time of year because of the snow. I've never liked snow and being from Cleveland, Ohio, the winters there are terrible. I'm in Maryland now but the snow can be bad here too. Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC areas had a bad winter about 2 years ago and i hope we don't have a bad winter this year. I wish i could live in Miami or Los Angeles because i would love to have warm weather all year round. I wish Maryland and Virginia had warm weather all year round because those areas are very nice. I really love Alexandria, Virginia. There's so many nice restaurants and nice shopping centers and malls here.

Sorry, I missed this. We got anywhere from 6 to 8 inches over the course of a few days. As you mentioned on fb, floods have been a big problem here. It's a problem every year. Sunday night it poured down rain and then about 9 when I was driving to the hospital for a sleep study, it snowed like crazy-stuck this time-couldn't even see the road. When i got into Seattle it wasn't even raining. This afternoon when I drove home, you couldn't even tell that it had snowed. Today it just poured on and off all day.

Record Texas Heat Rearing Its Ugly Head
Record heat already making an impact in West Texas
Posted: Apr 26 2012 3:44 PM CDT
Houston - While southeast Texas is dealing with a minor heat wave this week, western parts of the state are withering under 100-degree heat -- and we're still in the month of April! Extreme drought still plagues west Texas. Because of that, and a high pressure dome currently in place over the state, sunshine beating down on the dry ground quickly translates to scorching heat.
San Angelo, for instance, posted a record high of 104 degrees on Wednesday afternoon. The normal high for San Angelo this time of year is 83. Around Houston, the drought has subsided and the ground is much more moist. The higher moisture content works wonders to keep our temperatures in check, so, even though we're facing afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s, it's much more comfortable than the near-100-degree heat we would be facing if we, too, were still in an extreme drought. The good news for our neighbors to the west is that the current high pressure dome overhead will be weakening into next week. This should help to moderate temperatures back into the 80s and bring them a slight chance for rain that will, at least a tiny bit, help their drought woes.

Blistering, Potentially Deadly Heat Forecast For Much Of U.S.
High temps expected to stay through next week in some places
Author: By the CNN Wire Staff
Posted: Jun 28 2012 9:24 PM CDT Updated: Jun 28 2012 9:43 PM CDT
(CNN) - Much of the Central and Eastern United States will bake under intense heat Friday, prompting warnings about air quality and fears about the health of those unable to find refuge in cooler confines. The blistering conditions won't be fleeting: High temperatures not only are expected to be around or above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in locales from Topeka, Kansas, to Washington, DC, on Friday, but they're expected to stay at about that level in many places through next week if not longer.
"Heat-related illness such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke are a real threat, dehydration can occur quickly," the National Weather Service's bureau in Indianapolis, where highs should hit 101 on Friday, noted in issuing an excessive heat warning. "The extended period of heat also will cause drought conditions to worsen and raise the concern for wildfire development."
The thermostat in St. Louis, Missouri, is forecast to hit 108 degrees and remain above 100 through next Thursday, at least, according to the weather service. That's prompted the city health department to remind residents to limit outdoor activities, not to leave children or pets in vehicles and to watch out for signs of heat exhaustion.
In Memphis, Tennessee, where highs should hit 104 degrees on Friday -- with the heat index, or how hot is actually feels outside, closer to 108 -- firefighters will be going door to door checking on residents to make sure they're braving the weather well. Churches and faith-based institutions are also being urged to reach out to people and to ask people to check on their neighbors and relatives.
"Please, if you know of someone who doesn't have air conditioning or who might be struggling with the heat, just stop by and see how they are doing," Mayor A.C. Wharton, Jr., urged residents in a press release. A "code red smog alert" has been declared Friday for metro Atlanta -- the first of its kind since 2010 -- according to the Clean Air Campaign, a partnership between employers and the state transportation department. Other metro areas on the East Coast will also feel the heat. Philadelphia and Washington both will have highs near 100 on Friday, while New Yorkers should see temperatures soar into the high 90s.

I have a suggestion for all of you having to cope with this stifling heat.
Break Out your Holiday CDs and DVDs and Play Them!
:santa:Christmas:santa: in July Week at my house began yesterday and will run through next Sunday. I have set up a Small Christmas Tree in the Living Room Window and are playing all my Holiday CDs and watching my Holiday Movies. It doesn't lower the temperatures, but it sure gets your mind off the heat! :D
Tomorrow I'm going to set up the Outdoor Lights, that will draw some Double Takes!  :happyface

  That's insanely hot, but incredibly my husband and I were in Vegas back in July of 2007 and htey were having massive record heat. They reported one temperature to be 125! I still don't really believe it but then again, I remember walking around Hoover Dam (in shoes) and the ground was burning our feet! We were on a bus tour but we learned very quickly that when going around the strip, it's best to rent a car. So much easeier than trying to walk from hotel to hotel in the blazing heat!
As for the weather here in Mill Creek/Seattle, Washington.... today has been absolutley perfect! I think it's in the high 70's/low 80's. Lots of fog this morning but now a cloudless day! I love it! IMO, there's no better place to be than the Pacific Northwest in the summer!

We are not just breaking heat records around here, we are shattering them. They are predicting more 100 degree temperatures for next week. I checked out the Mississippi, man that is low, all the traffic going down has to stay in the middle of the river where there is still some depth. I will have to check out the Missouri river, a few years ago when we had a bad drought, there was part of an old steamship sticking out of the water near the edge. I wanted to see if I could tear off a hunk that had some writing on it but I couldn't quite reach it.

Since when is MO the outlaw state? MO is the Show Me State.
It was called the outlaw state back in the 1800s because most of the outlaws came from here,we have so many border states, that they would cross over into another state and rob trains, banks and murder people, then come back to where they were protected. Look up the bio on most of these famous bad guys, James brothers,Younger brothers,Bloody Bill Anderson, even the Daltons clan originally came from Missouri. It continued years after with Ma Barker, Tom Horn etc...

There was an article in our newspaper several years ago about that very subject. It had information about outlaws coming from MO. to rob the Russellville, Ky. bank. Russellville is about 35 miles northeast of our city. I couldn't find the original article but this one tells a little about it:
It was in the upper 90's today & very humid.
