E! News has confirmed that a police investigation has been launched after Osbourne allegedly attacked a contestant on the VH1 show, scratching her face and pulling her hair during a reunion taping on Saturday.

"We know a battery incident is alleged to have occurred on a taping of a reality show Sharon Osbourne hosts," said Los Angeles police spokesman Ben Llewellyn. Llewellyn would not confirm whether a police report had been filed.

Asked if she planned to comment, Osbourne rep Nicole Perna said, "We do not."

Megan Hauserman, 26, purportedly drew Osbourne's ire after commenting on camera that she was only famous for managing her husband, whom Hauserman dubbed "a brain-dead rock star."

Back for the reunion special, Hauserman, who is a regular reality contestant and previous winner on Beauty and the Geek, was booted from Charm School after four episodes for kicking a fellow contestant.

Ironically, Osbourne's final words before expelling Hauserman may come back to haunt the host: "The one thing I cannot stand is violence."

Sharon Osbourne is under investigation by police after she allegedly attacked a former Playboy model who insulted her husband, Ozzy Osbourne. Megan Hauserman reported that she was attacked after she implied that Sharon Osbourne had no real talent. Hauserman reportedly made a statement that Sharon was only famous for managing a "brain-dead rock star".

According to reports, Osbourne became angry while filming Rock of Love: Charm School, a reality TV show. It was during taping on Sunday, that Osbourne who hosts the series, allegedly angrily bolted across the stage and assaulted the contestant. Security quickly intervened and pulled the two women apart.

Hauserman is best known for her reality show appearances on Beauty and the Geek, Rock of Love and I Love Money. She reportedly left the hospital shortly after the assault, holding her left arm in a sling. She was later interviewed by police.

A spokeswoman for the LAPD confirmed that an alleged assault took place but couldn't verify Osbourne's involvement in the incident until an investigation had been completed. Osbourne is no stranger to bouts of angry, impulsive behavior, she walked out of the recording of an X Factor show in October of last year and abruptly quit the show.

No charges have been filed until the investigation is completed.

I kinda feel the same way. I don't approve of what Sharon did but Megan got what was coming to her. You reap what you sow. She will criticize anyone and someone finally let her have it. Unfortunately, for Sharon, she came off looking like a hypocrite. If Sharon was able to get violent, then Dallas should have had the right to beat the tar out of Lacey in episode 6. Dallas did well holding back considering Lacey was trying to egg her on. Dallas gets eliminated while Lacey is still there. Sharon and Megan share faults from both ends. Monique and Sharon O. Were these leaders on the two seasons of the shows but they need to practice what they preach.

In high school I was a big Black Sabbath fan. All the anger, frustration, paranoia in their music really spoke to me at that age. It's like they wrote that music to convey how I was feeling. I don't listen to Sabbath and solo Ozzy as much now, but I still do from time to time.

LAPD officials said they are treating the matter as they would any other -- even though it involved activities on a reality TV show. But Loyola Law School professor Laurie Levenson questioned why they had to. Although it isn't OK to accost someone, Levenson said, opening a police investigation based on what takes place on the set of television reality show seems questionable.

"It sort of makes you shake your head," Levenson said. "What's next, calling the cops during TV wrestling matches?"

There is no evidence that the fight was designed to be a publicity stunt for the show. But Levenson noted that such programs relish being in the public eye. "The bottom line is that we have limited resources. Why are we using them for slapping on stage rather than shootings in the street?" Levenson said. "Get a security guard."

The winner of the competition gets $100,000, not to mention free publicity. Police would not officially confirm the identity of the alleged suspect or victim, a winner of the reality show "Beauty and the Geek" in 2007, but said an investigation is underway.

The British press, never one to exaggerate, described the altercation as "a brutal catfight." The motive for the attack allegedly was Hauserman's cutting remarks about Osbourne's husband, rocker Ozzie Osbourne, who she described as a "brain-dead rock star."

$haron Osbourne is going to have to do a lot of defending of Ozzy as he gets older, because fewer people are going to take him seriously as his faculties wear down. That means more fights, brawls, and eggings. And that's really sad. Ozzy isn't really the musical icon that he used to be, and so he has to turned to Hollywood celebrity stardom to appear "relevant".
