Anyone wee this bonus feature on the first season dvd? It was really good, the kids learned a new lesson about the freedoms we have. Got me thinking with our countries problems maybe they should push savings bonds again.

Haven't watched it yet- as the Donna Reed set sucked me in and won't let me go! I will be watching more soon as I need to order season 2.

I enjoyed that special feature too! Sometimes we Americans forget how precious freedom is.

The exact same thing has happened to me in reverse! I've been watching Father Knows Best season 2 more than The Donna Reed Show set.

My my my, Gidget!!
I think for me it's because I was more familar to FKB, through those reruns on the old CBN Family Channel. I just ordered Season 2. My problem is, time. I have so much to watch but never enough free time to enjoy it all.

I find it odd that the special was produced, but never broadcast. I have my Father Knows Best season 2 ordered, can't wait til it gets here.

I remember when FKB was on the old CBN Family Channel, but for some reason I don't remember I didn't get to watch it that often. If it came on in the daytime, I was in school. Even though I liked FKB, I didn't think of it as a favorite. I suppose I wasn't ready for it at the time.
I watched Donna Reed as much as possible on Nick at Nite. I remember asking my mother why I didn't get cookies and milk when I came home from school. That didn't go over too well. I was totally crushed when it left the station.

Kinda hard to watch DVDs at my job--cashier at a grocery store
Been watching at least one episode a night before I turn in--so I'm making progress!!
Watched this special episode--IT WAS VERY WELL DONE!! and I don't see why it could not have been included in syndication.

I thought it was very well done also, it made me appreciate my freedoms.

At first you kind of sense why Betty and Bud were so agitated at their dad, but then you realize what the message is....freedom is not free, it comes at a price.
This experiment sort of reminds me of the ABC Afterschool for Primetime special "The Wave", about a group of students who question their teacher on how the German people allowed the Nazis to take over and they did nothing to stop the insanity.

Well, there are several ways to attack this problem.
Bring a small TV set to the store, make sure the set you bring to set up at your register is fairly portable, so that you can take it with you to the lunch room when you go on break! It should have a built in DVD player, but if it doese't you'll have to bring a DVD player with you as well...
And just keep one of those "This Register Closed" signs up at all times That way, customers won't bother you while you're trying to watch!
If the boss says anything (and they probably will), let them watch a couple of episodes with you...they're sure to get hooked as well!
Or, you could convert the DVD episodes to IPod format, and slap 'em on a video IPod. My Ipod has eps of "Seinfeld", "The Honeymooners", "Gomer Pyle" etc on it. Then, just have the IPod with you at the register, and enjoy the episodes.
Either way, enjoy the shows!!!
Problem solved!

While the episode was never aired on TV, it was widely shown on 16mm prints at schools and churches, and to civic groups, to help sell U.S. Savings Bonds.
So people did see the episode, just not on TV. I don't know why they decided NOT to show it on TV though.

Thanks Tweety for the laugh!
And Here's Lucy also did a special episode for the US treasury that was never shown on TV--i've seen bits of it on a Lucy compilation DVD.

Here's hoping that the rumors that MPI will do season sets for HL come true in 2010!
