Check out episode #30, "The Hero." For some reason the opening credits and theme song are different. The season one theme is played by strings, but this "newer" version features brass instruments. Donna's hair is different.

I know that filming sequences can differ from air dates, but this episode is numbered in sequence. The following episodes go back to the older opening. It happens one more time in episode #34, "Miss Lovelace Comes to Tea," but Donna's hair is the usual style.

Can anyone explain this?

It looks as though the DVD producer put the wrong opening w/ those shows. That opening title comes from later in the series and was used until the end of the series.

I saw it and think they may have just been trying a new do for her. In the episode before this one, her hair is slightly different too. The theme music did get a little jazzier later in the seasons.
