I have seen the other threads requesting prayer. I 'm a believer in the power of prayer. I would like to make this a prayer request thread for anyone who needs prayer for themselves, their friends and family or strangers.
Right now I'm in need of prayer. I have a family member who is causing me a lot of problems and is always saying mean and hurtful things to me. I'm hoping that this person will stop what they are doing or my situation will somehow change. Please keep me in your prayers and I will try to check the thread everyday and respond to the requests.
Also in this thread feel free to post any bible verses, prayers, or inspirational stories or pictures.

My dad had surgery last year for colon cancer. Luckly he is cancer free now. He will be going to have reversal surgery in the next week or two. Last time he had surgery he caught a staph infection and almost died at the VA hospital. I really hope and pray that things will go better this time.

I pray for Janice to find a good and permanent answer to her pain and soon. Things like this shouldn't happen to people like her.
I also pray for everyone who's going through medical issues or has family who does right now.

My heartfelt prayers to you browneyes! i hope your situation gets better. i know i have some toxic family members that i had to regretfully cut ties with. don't know if you live with this particular family member or not so that might be hard to do. have you tried asking what their problem is? maybe he/she needs to vent and this unfortunately is their outlet. maybe if you offer a listening ear they might be able to work out an underlying problem constructively. or you could just lay low and steer clear of them until this passes. anyway by all means stay positive for yourself! my signature is my favorite prayer and quote. hope they bring you some comfort.

what a NICE thread! I'm a belevier in prayer, too, ecspesially since what happened to my mother and brother last spring (he had a heat attack and she had a cardiac arrest and almost died:eek: See my thread "MY 79 YEAR OLD MOTHER" in the chit-chat forum) and I'm praying for Janice and Lauren to have an end to their pain, and everyone else on here and elsewhere who is suffering from medical issues.

Im glad that things are going a little better for you. I don't know if your a Mariah Carey fan, but there is a great song on her new album called "I Wish You Well". It's very spiritual and uplifting. Here is a link.
Mariah Carey - I Wish You Well
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2xirQn2kX0
Here are the lyrics...
"I Wish You Well"
by Mariah Carey
This goes out to you and you and you
You know who you are
Hmm hmm hmm
When glory days turn to stormy nights
You must have been so petrified
Didn't you, didn't you feel so cold
You against the world in a losing fight
Captive of your demons inside
So you sought an enemy
(I'm not your enemy. He lives in you, you know it's true)
Like times before to mock ignorantly
(But the Lord said love, love your enemy so just...)
Take heed to the Word it's time
Check Proverbs 19:29
Don't cry
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
I truly wanted solidarity
Still wearing my blinders back then
(So much I didn't see)
I weep for what I dreamed we all could be
I'll keep you in prayer till the end
Still bruised, still walk on eggshells
Same frightened child, hide to protect myself
(Can't believe I still need to protect myself from you)
But you can't manipulate me like before
Examine first John chapter 4 verse 4
And
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
Be strong in the Lord and power of His might
If my shows of gratitude are miniscule
Inside your mind, sorry
(I'm so sorry, please forgive me)
There's only so much I can do I love you and did all that I could
Maybe when you're cursing me
You don't feel so incomplete
But we've all made mistakes
Felt the guilt and self-hate
I know you've been there for me plenty
Maybe still got love for me
But let him without sin cast the first stone brethren
But who remains standing then
Not you not I see Phillipians 4:9
(Put it into practice and the God of Peace will be with you)
So
I wish you well
I wish you well
I wish you well
(He who the Son sets free is free indeed)
No weapon formed against me shall prosper
Surely God is my salvation
I will trust and not be afraid
The Lord, the Lord is my salvation
I will trust in Him
Yes, I know that I know that I know that I know
But I have had God's help to this very day
And so I stand here and testify
To small and great alike
So the more you curse me
The more you're blessing me
The Word said it
Love your enemies
Do good to those who curse you
Pray for those who mistreat you
Psalms 129:2
They have greatly oppressed me from my youth
But they have not gained victory over me
(In Jesus' name)
I wish you well
He that keeps his mind state on the Lord
He will keep them in perfect peace

This is a really inspirational song called Anyway by Martina McBride. Here are the lyrics and a video of Martina singing it in 2006
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr_iNfxZl0I
You can spend your whole life buildin'
Something from nothin
One storm could come and blow it all away
Build it anyway
You could chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way
Dream it anyway
God is great but sometimes life aint good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway
I do it anyway
This worlds gone crazy
And it's hard to believe
That tomorrow will be better than today
Believe it anyway
You can love someone with all you heart
For all the right reasons
And in a momemt they can choose to walk away
Love 'em anyway
God is great but sometimes life aint good
And when I pray
It doesn't always turn out like i think it should
But I do it anyway
Yeah I do it anyway
You can pour your soul out singin'
A song you believe in
That tomorrow they'll forget you ever sang
Sing it anyway
Yeah sing it anyway
I sing
I dream
I love anyway
You can spend your whole life buildin'
Something from nothin
One storm could come and blow it all away
Build it anyway
You could chase a dream
That seems so out of reach
And you know it might not ever come your way

OMG - thanks for posting this! This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for. Back in the spring when I was stuck in that motel, for the first time in my life, I picked up the bible and seriously read it. I could, because of it being placed there by the Gideons. At the front, they have an index showing you which passages to read depending on your issue (I went nuts on the Psalms). I wish I had been able to keep it because of the index, but of course, that would be stealing and I'm not going to steal a bible of all things! (even tho it is the most stolen book in the world). lol
I have to admit, I am not religious (more spiritual), but it sure did help during those very dark days and helped me get through them.

God grant me the serenity to accpet the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. That's my favorite. When I'm at work I chnage it to the wisdom to bury the bodies of the people I had to kill today because they pissed me off!!!
But yeah, I do say Father, Son and Holy ghost (the Lord's prayer if you want to be technical)when I feel troubled or I say a Hail Mary. It helps.

This is another that I love. Oddly, when things were at their worst this summer, I found it in a box when I was unpacking. I don't know when or where I got it but for some reason I kept it. It's like "someone special" put it there for a reason. ;)
One night I dreamed a dream.
I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to me and one to my Lord.
When the last scene of my life shot before me I looked back at the footprints in the sand. There was only one set of footprints. I realized that this was at the lowest and saddest times of my life. This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.
"Lord, You told me when I decided to follow You, You would walk and talk with me all the way. But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints. I just don't understand why, when I need You most, You leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."

I Said A Prayer For You
I said a prayer for you today
And know God must have heard.
I felt the answer in my heart
Although he spoke no word!
I didn't ask for wealth or fame
(I knew you wouldn't mind).
I asked him to send treasures
Of a far more lasting kind!
I asked that he be near you
At the start of each new day;
To grant you health and blessings
And friends to share your way!
I asked for happiness for you
In all things great and small.
But it was for his loving care
I prayed the most of all!

I'll keep all of you in my prayers :) I do believe in the power of prayer and that God is always watching out for us.
I want to say a prayer for one of my students who is only in 4th grade, but already heading down a dangerous path. May God help lead him in the right direction and protect all my current students and those who have moved on to middle school. Also, God, protect all those poor innocent children who were unwanted by their parents. No child should ever be considered an inconvenience, only a gift.

You know that sounds allot like me. I am 26 and I still live at home. I do have a boyfriend but we have been dating for 5 years and I have prayed that God would get him to propose but I am still waiting and wondering if that is going to happen, so I kind of know how you feel. But you know there is a reason God doesn't always answers everyone's prayers. He could just be waiting for the right time or he could be teaching you something. You just have to trust God because he knows what's best for you and your future. That's what I tell myself when God doesn't answer my prayers. I will keep you and your family in my prayers

Family Christmas Prayer
I think about my family, my relatives, the neighbors, people with whom we will spend this day. Dear Jesus, as I look at their faces and remember their stories, there are feelings of gratitude and some fear and anxiety. Thank you for these loved ones and please forgive me for the ways I have been less than accepting and loving. Please heal the wounds, division and conflicts that stand between us and help me to remember how dearly you love them. I only want to remember that you have come to save us all.

If you all get a chance, would you please say a prayer, or send some positive thoughts to my dad, my Aunt, and her daughter Jamie?? I just got the news a couple days ago that my uncle Ev lost his nine month battle to esophagus cancer. :( He was a great man, who I know is in a better place now, but he was only 50 years old, and was married to my Aunt for over 30 years, and so this is very hard on them. My dad is also seriously grieving the loss of his brother, so could you send a prayer out to him too?? Thanks, it would really mean alot to me! :)

I just want to thank everyone once again for praying for my family in our time of need!!! You guys are truly the best, and it is appreciated beyond words. Unfortunately, we got some more bad news in our family, and we could really use your prayers once again. My mom's boyfriend Carl went to the dentist, and they think he might have mouth cancer. :( He's going in for a biopsy tomorrow. The dentist is pretty sure that it's cancer, but if you could, please pray that it's not, and if it is, please pray for my mom. She loves him alot, and if this does turn out to be cancer, she will be absolutely devastated. Him and I are also really close, despite some major differences we have, so this has been pretty tough on me as well. I'll be sure to keep you all up to date on the test resuts. Thanks again everyone, you guys are truly awesome!! :)

Brad I'll pray hard for you. Back in 2003 they thought I had mouth cancer. Went to 6 different doctors before they sent me for a proper biospy at one of the best hospitals in Toronto (Sunnybrook). They took a biospy from my lip (one stick req'd) and it took 3 weeks to get the results. Luckily, it turned out to be a weird auto-immune thing related to Eczema, called Lichen Planus. It looks almost identical to mouth cancer. So I'm praying it will turn out to be something like that. Oddly, that scared me more than this brain tumour I'm dealing with now so I know what your family's going through.

Has anyone on this site dealt with Pityriasis Rosea. It is annoying (and quite ugly skin condition) Initially, I actually thought I had the measles (because my chest and my back were covered in red dots) I ran to my doctor, where they took three vials of blood (to test me for everything under the sun); it turns out I have Pityriasis Rosea. Pityriasis Rosea is a skin disease, where you break out in red dots all over your body (except for your face and the palms and soles of your feet); this nasty disease (which is not contagious or harmful) is just annoying, 1. (because you itch all over)2. Ugly (because you have these red dots and scabs all over the body, that look terrible!) 3. It lasts forever and a day (anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks; sometimes even 3 months). I believe I developed this predicament, after going through a lot of stress! But anyway, I hope and pray that I am not stuck with "PR" for three months:eek:
So, I am asking for everyone's prayers. Thanks:)

Well, thank you, sweetie. So the itching has died down, but I am still covered in these (horrid) scaly red spots all over. I literally have to cover my entire body with Calamine lotion. I read on-line that Pityriasis Rosea can last for almost 3 months. I hope not...

I hope it goes away quickly Tara. I didn't have that, but in 2003 I had Lichen Planus (see my reply to Brad about mouth cancer). It was hideous. I had one of the worst cases they've seen and it lasted about 4 years in various forms. People don't realize how awful skin diseases are until they've actually experienced them. They are not fun for sure.

Please pray for a friend of mine out in B.C.. Her daughter started with a tumour in her eye about 4 1/2 years ago. She underwent treatment and thought they had it beat. The tumour had shrunk and collasped in size. Unfortunately, she just got the news that it's come back and is now very aggressive. It doesn't look like it's spread to other areas yet (thankfully), but on April 2nd she now has to have the tumour and her eye removed. They'll sew her eye shut to prevent infection and then will eventually be fitted with a fake eyeball.
She has a daughter who just turned one on March 12th and will have quite a battle ahead of her even just to get used to her new "vision".
This one hit a nerve with me because of what I'm going through. It just shows me that even though I've been having progress, this is something that's going to hang over me for years to come no matter what.

What a mess! I hear you about getting aid. I'm now going through my life savings and when I get to the end of it I don't know what's going to happen. I'm sure I won't qualify for welfare (and I really don't want to have to go on it).
I think we're going to see a lot of the middle class in this position in the next fews month. We'll be the ones who "slip through the cracks". Meanwhile, our stupid provincial government just increased our taxes again on us if you can believe it.
Hopefully there will be something she'll be able to get help with. This is the sort of thing I feel so badly about in the U.S.. The richest, most powerful country on earth, yet citizens can go bankrupt just trying to stay well. :(

Yep. I try really hard not to let my anger over these and other things consume me. It makes me sick that there is so much greed. How do they expect us to pay $300 a month just to be able to go to the doctor once a year or just to get a regular check up at the dentist. Most families can not afford that kind of insurance. Then we make too much to get medicaide. I just hope she can find a way to get this taken care of. I am really worried about my chances of getting cancer now too. My dad had cancer and now my sister. This is really getting scary. Now that I just turned 30. I really would feel a lot more secure if I had some kind of health ins. All I can do is just try to eat healthy/organic and try to stay in shape.

The Five Finger Prayer
1. Your thumb is the nearest to you. So begin your prayer by praying for those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our loved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."
2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach, instruct, and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They need support and wisdom in pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.
3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders. Pray for the president, leaders in industry and business, and administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.
4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact that this is our weakest finger; as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble, or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.
5. And lastly comes our little finger; the smallest finger of all. Which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the Bible says, "the least shall be the greatest among you." Your pinky should remind you to pray for yourself.

you have all my prayers that you somehow will reconcile with each other. my husband did not talk to his brother for over a year and one day they just reached out to each other. i know during that time my husband was very lonely and missed his brother but they are both so hardheaded but now they are the best of friends again. i'm sure your brother misses you just as much and that you will find your way back to each other.

I hope he comes back. Part of the reason he doesn't talk to us is because his wife and her children control him a lot. I do wonder if my brother gets lonely because he is basically forced to spend any free time he has with his wife's side of the family. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers.

A Prayer In Spring by Robert Frost
Oh, give us pleasure in the flowers to-day;
And give us not to think so far away
As the uncertain harvest; keep us here
All simply in the springing of the year.
Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
And make us happy in the happy bees,
The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
And make us happy in the darting bird
That suddenly above the bees is heard,
The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
And off a blossom in mid air stands still.
For this is love and nothing else is love,
The which it is reserved for God above
To sanctify to what far ends He will,
But which it only needs that we fulfill.

It is important to remember that God doesn't answer all of our prayers. However, he knows what is best for us. Even more than we often know ourselves. He's watching over you every single minute of every single day, and he will give you the strength to overcome all that life throws your way. And please, don't give up on the power of prayer, it can work wonders.

And for my Job Counselor. He's telling me to try harder in a hard economy and he wants me to go downtown. I just say 'okay, go ahead' and soon I just want him to ****-off forever. I'm very angry at him and I don't even want to see him ever again even though I have to meet with him on Thursday.

A Mother's Day Prayer
Thank You, Holy Father,
for Your special gift of mothers;
for the example of Your unconditional love they share with their children.
Thank You for the mother who lets her child know without doubt he or she is loved,
and for the child who returns that love.
Lord, today we pray You will protect and guide mothers everywhere;
that You will grant them Your wisdom in loving and teaching their children.
Today, may children everywhere remember the warm caresses and whispers in the night;
the tears dried and Band-Aids, the peach cobbler, the laughter;
and the blood curdling scream, "No!" at the brink of danger.
Thank You for the mothers who played with us, taught us, nurtured us,
fed us, listened to us and tried to understand us.
Today, may we remember Mom's beauty when we were young;
and her loveliness discovered as we aged.
Lord, today draw especially close the mothers who are alone,
for whatever reason;
and grant them Your comfort, Your pleasure, Your peace.
And, Lord, for children who are alone, because of distance, death, or indifference,
may good memories flood their minds.
And if there is not a good memory,
may forgiveness burst forth from their hearts
and revive in them long lost joy.
Thank you particularly for phone calls today,
and for a shared "I Love You."
Today as we honor, celebrate, or simply reflect on the woman who gave us birth,
or who adopted us into her heart.
We thank You, Lord, for life,
and for Mom!
In Jesus name,
Amen.

Prayer Requests
"Lord, I come to You with prayer requests,
For I know You always know what’s best.
The plans I make I leave with You
That You may change them if You choose.
And loved ones who have lost their way
Will come back to You, dear Lord, I pray.
An answer from You means so much,
For those who need Your healing touch.
For those who fear may have Your peace –
Their faith in You to be complete.
Now use me, Lord that I might do
Whatever it is You want me to,
And whatever I do, wherever I go,
Your love to others help me to show."

I'm STILL in trouble. :(
I need to cope on unanswered prayers and it seems that I can't respect my own father because he's been on my case this morning.
He said that "I'm not going to haul your ass to work every morning, so you'll have to get used to riding the bus to work as well as from work". Then when I get back by riding the bus, he said "that wasn't bad, was it"? That made me furious, it made me feel like I'm not loved and his footstool. And he told me to forget about getting a car. That made me want to throw away my Drivers License at that moment! Something I worked hard on, and it seems like that he treats me like I'm his slave rather than his son!
I can't seem to cope with my old man, I wish he would just disappear!

I have a prayer request. About a week ago I found out that one of my friends hasn’t been feeling good for a while and he found out that his liver is bad and he needs a transplant. So the doctor put him on a list and this is a pretty long list. He is doing ok as of now but he doesn't know how long he will have he is also looking for a new job and with his liver problem he has to be careful how much physical labor he does so he is hoping that won't hurt his chances at getting a job. So if you guys could just keep him in your prayers that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
