one of the other boards I post at is MadonnaNation, and a member there just received two tickets for a bday present, but he couldn't find anyone who wants to go there that doesn't have tix already, so he offered them to me. I am so excited because I have been wanting to see Madonna in concert for over 20 years, and she's on a very short list of acts I've always wanted to see but haven't yet, and a free ticket is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!!! I am so excited. I don't really like the Hard Candy album, but it's effing Madonna!!!

MadonnaNation? I LOVE lurking on that board and signed up an account just so I could continue lurking! LOL! I especially love the Pop Princesses section.
I've been reading some negative stuff about the concert and what shape her voice is in, but who cares as long as it's fun. Some people read too much into the perfection of the performance (Mariah fans, I'm looking at YOU).

who are you on MN? I'm NothingFails0603, usually post mainly on General Music and Pop Princesses there. I agree, Pop Princess is hysterical because of all the reactions whenever Mariah or Janet or Beyonce gets photographed looking like a trainwreck

If there are any Mariah fans on that board criticizing Madonna, then that is insane. Madonna is a performer, while Mariah really is not. Mariah cannot dance or anything like that, so for her live shows, it's all about the voice. She has to be dead on or it's considered a flop. With Madonna, it's really quite the opposite. If her voice isn't 100% perfect every night, it doesn't really matter. She isn't known for being an amazing vocalist, she's known for being an amazing performer, so as long as she's delivering that, it's really all that matters.

If it's one thing Madonna knows how to do, it's put on a show. Have fun.

I ended up passing, and it sucks to be an adult. But I have rent and bills and Christmas coming up, that while the kid in me that was obsessed with every single thing Madonna did would kill to see her, the responsible adult in me has to pass because even with gas being half what it was, it'd be over $100 to Atlanta and back :(
Oh well, she tours every two years anyways, maybe next time I will save up so I can finally see her. It's come down to her, David Bowie, Elton John and Paul McCartney as the only artists I've always wanted to see live yet that I haven't (I've already seen Prince, Janet, Tina, Michael Jackson, Cher, Cyndi Lauper, Rolling Stones and so on). I know she signed a LiveNation contract for three tours in the next decade so it's not my last chance to see her.

I hope you don't live to regret this.

actually, part of me wonders if this happened as a test to see if I'm finally "grown up" or not
I love Madonna, have since I was five, but know she's obligated to tour again a few more times in the next decade, so the time will come eventually. I just can't afford to trip to Atlanta and back right now and there are other less frivolous financial responsibilities to worry about.

That's too bad, MusicJunkie! However, I completely understand about bills and so forth. I heard that Madonna's next trip up our way is going to skip Seattle altogether and she will head north to Vancouver. I would love to see her, but I don't know anyone who's a fan who would go with me. My husband cannot stand her and I know he would feel like I was torturing him if I made him go!
