I just read a post on the "Brady Bunch" page that said that creator "Sherwood Schwartz" had worked on this sereis! I had no idea! I remember Friday Nights in which "The Brady Brides" was on at eight-thirty right after this show. However, after NBC refused to renew the "Brady Brides" Sherwood was very insulted and quit his job with this sereis as well. I remember the next season when this show was moved to eight-thirty Saturday Nights. It was sandwitched in between "One of the Boys" and the "Mandrell Sisters". By the way, Barbara Mandress is another one of my favorites! In any event, I am wondering if the lack of Sherwood's talent is what made this show crumble at the end of the second season. If anyone out there knows anything about the situation, I would be very interested in hearing from you!

According to the Directory of Prime Shows, when the show returned for a second season the P.T.A meetings and involvement had been dropped which led to retitle of the show-"Harper Valley". Then a new character was added, Uncle Buster" that didn't help the ratings much.

I have read several posts on different sites by people who have found fault with Uncle Buster. I did not think that his character was that bad. I thought that in a lot of cases he added comic relief to situations. What do other viewers on this site think?

Uncle Buster was played by Mills Watson, fresh from his role on the "Lobo" series. So he wasn't doing anything much but playing the same buffoon he had been playing. I didn't watch the show because of him.....Barbara Eden was HOT!!
