View Full Version : Palin on SNL

You talk about doing more harm than good...

Really, did her appearance on SNL do her any good? I'd say no. With two weeks of campaigning to go, I'd prefer to see a potential VP out among the masses talking about the issues that need to be addressed instead of sitting on Weekend Update waving her hands like she just don't cay-yer.

Desperation at its finest.

And I thought after her constant winking during her debate with Biden that she couldn't get much more unprofessional. I stand corrected.

lol I thought it was funny...not voting for her, but it was funny.

Agreed.

My vote was cast for Obama long before he was even a serious candidate. But Palin's appearance on SNL....quite a sad attempt to gain some last minute "common folk" votes.

Personally, I think Palin is a joke...and the fact that she is on SNL two weeks before the election is not a campaign strategy as much as it's another unprofessional "shot in the foot" for her and the "maverick."

Funny? Yes.

VP? Dear God, I hope not.

It was funny, but she didn't really do anything or have any punchlines. She was just kinda...there. Palin 'raisin' the roof' to Amy Poehler's rap mocking her won't do much for the perception that she's not fit to lead lol.

OH Nuts!

Well I gotta admit Sarah is a good sport for going on SNL - which is pretty Left. Do I think she got any extra votes out of it? Probably not. Conservatives & Republicans were pretty much with her anyways. With Independents? Maybe a tiny bit - if that - it depends how much being a a good sport is a factor. Those of us who are Dems? My mind was made up a long time ago and this certainly didn't change it. But the gal does have good stage presense. If her ticket loses I could see her having some kind of show one day. And regardless of what happens, I don't think she's going to fade away; she's charasmatic, spunky and savvy - all plusses for staying on the radar screen.

I think she should get a job in the Obama administration to see how things work. I don't think she realizes how things do work though.

Even if McCain were winning, they ain't gonna change Washington. Then Governor Bush said he wanted to change Washington and he didn't or couldn't.

I thought she was a good sport for coming on and showing she could take the joke well. Same with Mark Wahlberg... I was impressed he came on after openly criticizing SNL for mocking him

LOL - I hung in there for about 10 more minutes and then flipped it. (pretty much the same pattern for me with SNL for the past 25 years)!

Mildly amusing, but yeah, not much coming out of Palin herself. I thought they would have done more with her AND Tina Fey. Didn't stick around for Weekend Update. Could have been a lot better. Probably all the hype ahead made it more interesting than it actually was.

The roast between Obama and McCain was a lot funnier. meh

So, yeah...a good sport?

Sure.

A VP candidate?

No way.

Not two weeks before the election.

For a VP candidate decidedly behind in the polls...you'd think that the campaign trail would be your priority...and not Weekend Update.

Look at it this way. She was on there to refute the image that SNL had made of her no different than the way that Mark Wahlberg was on to do the same.

So I can only assume that Marky Mark has gained as many votes as Palin, huh?

C'mon, now.

^ You think Palin should have been on the campaign trail on a Saturday night at 11:30? I read SNL's ratings were the highest since 1994, so she certainly got maximum exposure. Lots of famous people go on SNL. Why be so suspicous that Palin did, especially with all the Tina Fey hype. Nothing wrong with it, from my standpoint anyway.

Keep in mind that I say this as a 100% supporter of Obama...I'm not disappointed by any means...

...but Palin is a candidate for the second highest position in our nation's government. Two weeks before the election, she is on a comedy show trying to make the most of the mockery that SNL has made of her...instead of working like mad to deal with major issues in our nation and win an election which her party is currently losing (by quite a margin).

I'm all for humor, but when you say that "lots of famous people go on SNL" that's cool...as long as your talking about people like Mark Wahlberg who aren't two weeks away from being a candidate in our nation's presidential election.

Honestly, I appreciate Palin's appearance on SNL simply because it's yet another bit of evidence that she (and McCain) are in no way plausible candiates for the White House.

Now Palin should have been dealing with our nation's issues last night? She's not the VP, so what issues? First it was the campaign trail she was neglecting, now it's nation's issues. She took a couple of hours out of her schedule to appear on a show. Big deal. I bet she changes her baby's diapers too. Bill Clinton played the saxaphone on Arsenio Hall. McCain was on Letterman last week. All of the candidates are all over the place. I highly doubt that anyone would not vote for McCain because Palin appeared on SNL, other than you. All it did was show she was a good sport to 17 million people. As for mockery on SNL, they had a field day with the Clintons, Bush 1 & 2, so that's nothing new, and nothing personal. Talk about much ado about nothing. Had she turned down the offer to appear, she would most likely be savaged.

YOU BETCHA (IN SARAH PALIN'S VOICE)
MCCAIN WILL LOSE...And no I'm not being COCKY. look at the facts........ The Republican brand has been badly damage by Bush and most american's trust the Democrats when it comes to the Economy...Obama is winning in every catagory except when it come to who's better on terrorist..McCain wins hands down.

Obama also winning among most likely voters...
Obama's winning with african-american, latinos, asian etc......
He ahead among women and men
McCain's only head of obama when it comes to senior citizen and Obama has cut that lead in half....now that Colin Powell has endorse Obama the senior citizen will move Obama's way.

Obama has just raised 150 million last month...he has gained more than 600,000 new donors....His rally in North Carolina drew 100,000 people.
Must I go on...Palin wish she could raise 150 million or draw a crowd of 100,000..But anyway my point is if Obama was in John McCain shoes...I would not make excuses for obama ...i would just say it's over for Obama.
you Republican's need to fact the fact that John still can win but it's an up hill battle. Even most Republican's are saying that McCain is going to lose.

If you'd really like me to get into all of the reasons why I'm not voting for McCain, I will. Actually, I'd prefer to share the countless reasons I will be voting for Obama.

All of those other candidates appeared on shows. Sure. Those other candidates didn't do so two weeks before an election that their parties trailed by quite a significant margin. If it was within that timeframe (such as McCain on Letterman), the appearance was done professionally with the intent of gaining votes through discussion of issues, etc.

I'm glad to see that Palin is a good sport. She just chose a poor time to try and be funny and, in my opinion (and the opinions of several political analysts I've heard over the past 48 hours) made a fool of herself and did nothing to help her campaign in doing so.

Yeah, her CBS evening news interview which was a DISASTER, and now only talks to conservative outlets like Sean Hannity, Greta, Rush Limbaugh, Hugh Hewitt, etc. because she can't take hard questions without sounding....slow.

No, I don't care to know your reasons for not voting for McCain or why you're voting for Obama. This thread is about Sarah Palin on SNL. I've read and seen some good reviews of her performance, and before you say it, I will, not just on FOX.

What's wrong with being funny. McCain and Obama were making jokes at that dinner last week. I think you're nitpicking, big time. I haven't heard this kind of criticism, and Palin most certainly did not make a fool out of herself. I imagine Keith Doberman is going ape **** over this, but he does that about anything and anything Republic. Someone without an agenda could just see this for what is was and laugh it off.

Baloney. I saw her on Fox (yes FOX) tonight, and she was fantastic, with no notes in front of her. The woman is very articulate. This over-the-top raging hate for her is just insane. She can do no right. We get it, the libs hate her, which tells me she was a great pick.

Yes, Sarah Palin is remarkable. She's simply gorgeous, with a beautiful family. She's accomplished, though most on the left are trying to make her out be a stupid bumpkin. I guess it was different when Bill Clinton ran and was only a Governor. All I detect are jealousy and fear. Fear that she's got what it takes, and jealousy because, well, just look at her, lol. Did anyone catch how CNN tried to sandbag her during an interview by lying about what was written about her in an article? CNN just sucks.
