Well I e-mailed them with all of the info I had, including the name of the person known to have last owned it and the city he lived.

Geez, you think at least a 'thank you' would have been in order. Now I could care less if they get their bible back. Gotta wonder why the threw it away in the first place.
What use did UM have for the Bible? I assume just as a prop, but was the Bible itself featured prominently in the segment? And if it WAS just a prop, how on earth do you know the name of the person who last owned it?

Judging from the time the ad was placed till the time you started this thread, It looks as though you may not have given them enough time to respond. Of course the only thing I don't know is how long it's been since you contacted them. It's very possible that they may not have read your e-mail yet or they could be following up on the info that you so graciously provided. I get frustrated when an e-mail goes unanswered but I try to allow enough time for a reply.

Is this the story about the writer who picked up the Bible at an antique shop as part of a "mystery box" and then the Bible sat in his garage for years until he needed a quote from the Book of Jobe?
Just when she said in the CL post that it was thrown in the garbage that got me thinking it was a different story

yeah, that would be it. her statement of it being tossed in the trash can confused me as well, because I don't recall that in the segment. I just know the collector found it in the antique shop/pawn shop, and that's what I told her.

um, YEAH, there was an entire segment devoted to it. And I know the name because the segment mentioned it.
Sorry there wiseguy... didn't mean to offend. I was just astonished that you knew so much about the bible. Then, as I was falling asleep last night, I started to dimly recall a segment about some book collector (?) who had purchased the Bible at a flea market or some such thing.
