Personally, I would rank them in this order:

1. Noel Neill (the movie serials and The Adventures of Superman)
2. Teri Hatcher (Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman)
3. Erica Durance (Smallville)
4. Margot Kidder (four movies, beginning in 1978)
5. Phyllis Coates (The Adventures of Superman first episodes)
6. Kate Bosworth ("Superman Returns")

I'd have to say Margot Kidder or Teri Hatcher. I like both.
But I think I'll lean more towards Margot.

Margot Kidder was probably the best Lois Lane.

i must say that Erica Durance's take on the character has grown on me over the years.

When they announced that Lois Lane was going to join the Smallville universe, I wasn't too thrilled, but Durance brings a lot of humor and levity to the show.

Plus she gets mega props for the French maid outfit she wore in the season premiere last week.

Gotta love a reporter who goes all out for a story.

Well, i prefer the one from the Fleisher cartoons but, barring that, i went with Noel Neill
