Shannon Doherty may have earned a bad girl’s reputation on the set of Beverly Hills, 90210, but there’s one person who’s excited she’s going back to the world’s most famous zip code: former costar Tori Spelling.

News that Doherty has joined the new 90210 cast, “is amazing,” says Spelling, who also plans on appearing on the CW spin-off.

“That’s probably the best news the fans could ever get,” she told PEOPLE at Saturday’s Much Love Animal Rescue’s Bow Wow Wow event. And despite Doherty’s onset reputation, Spelling says, “All the girls on the show will be psyched!”

Spelling is pretty psyched herself — about her own growing family. Daughter Stella, who was born June 6, “is doing great,” she says. “She’s growing fast. It seemed like only yesterday she was born and now she has big chubby cheeks and she’s starting to focus everywhere.”

And big brother Liam, 1, is stepping right into his new role as big brother, Spelling says.

“He’s doing well, [the] little man,” says Spelling. “He’s at that age where it’s hard for him to understand. He’s not old enough to explain to him what’s happening but he’s old enough that he knows something’s happening. So, at first he was unsure, but now he gives her kisses goodnight. It’s really sweet.” – Charlotte Triggs and Alondra Hernandez

Toris is probably sticking pins in a Shannen Doherty doll as we speak.

I would love to hear Jennie's feelings towards this. She'd probably put on a cheesy smile and say something like "It's going to be just like old days!". I can't stand that woman :puke:

Jennie Garth is probably the one who is more psyched than anyone. She got into a physical altercation with Shannon on the set of 90210.

I'm glad you think you know her so well...

I'm sorry if my comment about Jennie offended you but do feel that Jennie is sometimes fake. I also don't appreciate things that she has said about Shannen in the past.

She probably doesn't appreciate the way she was treated by Shannen in the past, either. Anyway, she already made a statement about Shannen's return, and it wasn't what you said.

That's fair, in my opinion, it takes two people to fight. Honestly, I haven't heard much of what Jennie has said except for something in an issue of Star which made it sound like her and Tori were sort of "teaming up against Shannen". I know a magazine like Star isn't exactly a reliable source but it still made me upset. No hard feelings?

I agree. I'm sure they will both be adult enough to work together now. Back then they were still quite young. The only reason I'll be tuning into the new show is because of the former cast members returning. I'm still shocked that they actually got Shannen, but I'm very much looking forward to seeing Brenda back in Beverly Hills. :)

I'm still amazed! When I first heard it I thought it was a joke!

I am so glad that they have a bunch of the original 90210 alumni involved in the new show.

But wasn't this show supposed to be a "next generation" remake of the original?

It seems to me like this is going to be a reunion show.

I noticed the same thing. Aside from the adult roles I don't even know who is playing the next generation.

TJL, it will actually be a spinoff. That is what the word is. It is stated that the show is NOT a continuation of the original show. I was like "eh, whatever. I'll check it out" when Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling were coming back. Now that I know that Shannen is coming back, I am definitely watching. That was the bait that I needed. Having Brenda seals the deal for me. :happyface
