I see that Lifetime has changed its logo--again! I think this is like 6th or 7th logo this channel has had.

Recently, Animal Planet and Discovery redid their logos as well.

I cannot stand ANIMAL PLANET's new logo. Who the hell thought that is a great idea? What is up with putting a sideways "M"? That thing is so annoying, I can't help but look at it. IDIOTS!

Here is some info on that stupid logo...note it is said the sideways M might be an animal ready to fornicate...  Actually, it looks like the number 3 which makes it so stupid:

The new logo was designed by Dunning Eley Jones, a London-based design firm with plenty of experience in TV branding, is somewhat confusing. Well, no, make that very confusing. The typography feels to be Tobias Frere-Jones' Knockout and its hundred weights, yet there is something oddly uneven about it that makes me think it's a knock-off that has been scaled horizontally a tad too strongly. Regardless of what typeface it is or isn't, the logo is a weird jumble of ideas. I am guessing that the varying widths of each letter represent the different animals, that the sideways M could be an animal in a different position (I would gander sleeping or ready to fornicate), or maybe it's a bat, and that the overall composition is meant to feel alive and unexpected. Unfortunately it feels mechanical, constricted and, well, dead. For an identity that strives to "bring out the raw, visceral emotion in the animal kingdom" this simply does not cut it. I could see this identity having a hundred variations where the letters take on different weights, colors and textures, and that could even "breathe" on screen with the letters expanding and contracting, yet there is nothing to this logo. Or, at least not yet.

I am glad you posted the old SoapNet logo. I had forgotten how it looked. How long has it been since SN changed that logo?

Either of those logos for SN are nice.

The History Channel is another that has changed their logo. It is now just an ancient looking "H".

Well this isn't necessarily a logo change, but GSN's been doing some tinkering around w/ their logo w/in the lastfew months as well.

From 2004-until Spring '08, their logo color was aqua blue, black, and green.

Now, the colors of their logo changes depending on what theme month and/or special marathons are coming up.

I.E., their logo colors are red, pink, and/or white for V-day, Orange and white for most of the month of June, the King of Spades for their Poker marathons, etc.

I hate Animal Planet's new logo. The old one was fine..

That's what I think of many logos, but I do see the need for change I guess. A lot of channels have been doing that, like QVC, A&E, and basically every Discovery channel.

Discovery's is kinda lame too, but a big 'ol D. Whatever.

Nick at Nite has changed their logo several times in recent years....in 2002, then last year to the same version in orange, now the current one.

if anyone needs a new logo it's TV Land. I associate their logo with a classic TV channel - not a baby boomer's MTV.
