Patricia and Kelsey?

I think the series was created expressly to be a vehicle for sitcom veterans
Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton; and, yes, that was what drew me in to
watch the show. I wanted to see if they had any screen chemistry, and I
think they do. I hope it lasts long enough to build an audience.
It's hard to say for sure, but having them on it was definitely a big draw.
A good ensemble "workplace' comedy needs well known lead actors, and as tv star collector said, this show was probably created with that idea in mind.
I probably would have watched the show if others were cast instead of Kelsey and Patricia. It would be interesting to find out if they had anyone else in mind when this show was being devleoped.

Honestly, no I wouldn't have. The show was obviously made for Patricia and Kelsey, so we really didn't have a choice there. But then again, I would have never watched Murphy Brown without Candice Bergen. It's just one of those things where the actors are a huge part of what makes the show good.
Would have you have tuned in without them, Brian?

I think I would have...at least a little sampling. While Kelsey and Patricia really sucked me in, there was also the it factor of James Burrows and Steve Levitan.

I have to admit the reason I watch the show is Patty Heaton. I never watched Frasier so I wasn't really interested in Grammer, but now I really like them together, the chemistry is fantastic and the comic timing impeacable.
The show was created for Grammer though, they wrote Chuck having him in mind. It was Grammer who, upon reading the script, insisted that Patty play Kelly.

Another reason to like Kelsey!

It would depend who they had cast. I have to admit though that it was Brian who got me to watch by reading all his threads at SO. Thanks Brian. I'm glad I did because it's the best comedy I've seen in a number of years. :D

I was just excited that Patty was back on primetime tv!!!
Actually, with all the Back To You threads that Brain started, I too felt some pressure to watch the show.
Brian, I am watching the show, will you please release my family?
;)

I may have just watched the first ep at least to see if I liked it. It also depends on the previews. Having Patricia & Kelsey is really what sucked me in though.
