I saw the lamest thing on the past Sunday morning Today show (hopefully you all were asleep unlike me) with Lester Holt. It was a segment in the middle of the program called Unresolved Mysteries (complete with a faux UM
graphic and fake theme song). Lester went to a town in NM to investigate
a mysterious 'hum' that only a small percentage could hear. Didn't the 'real'
show do a segment on this in the later years? Furthermore, does anyone know if this is a regular thing on the Today show now? Beware of imitations!

I haven't seen it, but maybe since UM was first on NBC they think they can rip it off.
IIRC, the "hum" was about people in the Great Lakes states that heard it. They think the Navy was using LF signals to train message senders or something like that.
As for the Today Show, those people kill me. They switch gears faster than a trucker on crack. "Sad news this morning. Six students killed in a university shooting. And right after that, Britney Spears. Crazy or cool? Also an update to our story on making love after age 80. And then our series 'How to make Fun Valentines out of Food.' But first, six people are dead..." Not good.

The "Taos Hum" was included in the original segment. They interviewed people from all over. There's also a "Kokomo Hum" in Indiana, but I can't remember for sure whether that was in the segment or not.
The Today Show is beyond lame (although I do like Meridith Viera and wish she would get a better job or her own show or something). This is just the icing on the cake. Todd, you're dead on!

Is this a weekly thing they will be doing or was it a one shot deal? I don't watch this show, but I wouldn't mind checking it out.
Thanks.
