Brooklynite actor Michael Pitt has come a long way from starring on Dawson’s Creek, and in the current issue of Giant magazine he delivers, in context, some quotes about the Saw franchise, U.S. soldiers and people who won’t/don’t “get” the March remake of Funny Games.

“I don’t even know what Saw or Hostel are. Are they like Texas Chainsaw Massacre? I guess I’m drawn to things like Lawrence of Arabia.”

“[Audiences that don’t like Funny Games] can kiss my ass. I hope they do [get angry with] Funny Games. It challenges you. If you’re not up to the challenge, go see Saw.”

“People think that, until you’ve killed someone or had someone shoot at you, you’re not a grown-up. Going to war isn’t growing up; it’s moving backwards.”

It's statements like these that make me want to dopeslap the person. Who in the world said that, or even thinks that? I hate when people make outrageous statements, and then build a false argument around it. He sounds like an angry hateful creep, and I never even heard of him until just now.

Usually when I see some bizarre quote from a celebrity, I just think it's taken out of context. But with these statements, I really don't see how they could be. Just wow...

I agree with him on SAW/Hostel

Michael Pitt is a Z-list actor and the only things of note he's been in are Hedwig and Murder By Numbers (which had Sandra Bullock and Ryan Gosling)

With an attitude like that, his career won't being going too far. It's the people who will make you or break you, and it's not good publicity to a negative attitude. He's acting as if he's been around for years.

I love it when people I've never heard of try to be profound.

Well, Jesus, I doubt any of those men want to leave their families to go fight in a war that they may or may not come back from, but they do their jobs and do what the president tells them to to the best of their ability. After all, the soldiers can't just say, "MMM, Nahhh, I don't want to go to Iraq, it's a step backwards." They're just doing their job. Learn to lazily blame the right people, jackass.

Michael Pitt is actually Leonardo DiCaprio's uglier twin. If you don't believe me, check out Man In The Iron Mask...
