I recently read a really interesting story about an actor named Harry Crowder. The story gave some vague info on him, but I have been trying for over a month to figure out who he is. This is what I know..He was popular in the late 60's and early 70's on American television, playing guest roles in sitcoms and domestic dramas. From 1974 to 1984 he was in his own successful series, a gentle family comedy based around a widowed lawyer bringing up his 3 children single-handedly in a rural mid-western town. In 1984, at age 60, he retired to live in a mansion in Bel-Air by himself. He was a celibate homosexual. Does anyone know which comedy he was in?
There's nobody by the name of Harry Crowder listed at the Internet Movie Database - http://us.imdb.com
Perhaps you have the name mixed up with somebody else..

My husband and I read that story in "What the Corpse Revealed" and had the same curiosity. We read the intro, it said some of the names and places might be changed to protect anonymity. Probably different name maybe different country (England where the author is from?) Could even be different genre (drama, soap, stage who knows?). And/or a different time frame. If anyone does know or has an idea let us know our curiosity is killing us! Thanks
