Shell Kepler, who played the role of Amy Vining on "General Hospital" for over 20 years, died Friday.

Along with her role on General Hospital, she had bit parts on a number of television series throughout the years, including CHIPS and Three's Company. Her last work was done on the "Port Charles" series.

There are conflicting reports on her age, as the medical examiner listed it as 49, while IMDb lists her date of birth as October 5, 1961, which would maker her 46.

After retiring from acting, she had devoted her life to working in raising funds for charities. She passed away from complications related to renal failure.

Kepler had been married twice, and is survived by her brother Fred Marital.

Oh my dear God, I'm blown away by this. I watched General Hospital for 25 years, off and on. Shell's character, Amy, was adorable with that cute voice and sweet demeanor. How sad. Renal failure. I wonder if she was on dialysis. My doctor insists that I have blood work drawn all the time, to make sure things are okay, given the medication I take.

Prayers to Shell Kepler and her loved ones. That poor young woman.

That's so sad! I've been watching GH for about 15 years now and I remember her being on there. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Although I wasn't a faithful viewer of GH, I knew of her character on there. You know how over the years you tend to know soap characters simply because...? She was one of those people. I know her more from Three's Company. I always wondered why she wasn't chosen to be a replacement for Suzanne Somers. She was so cute and pretty.

I wonder what kind of problems she had? Kidney problems?

Such a sad ending. She devoted her life to charitable work and to have her life end too soon. I guess God wanted her soon. :rip:

RIP!! This is definitely a terrible loss to the daytime industry.

I never realized how absolutely gorgeous she was. That picture is beautiful.

One day my brother was reading the obits in our local paper and he asked "have you hear of so and so. I said nope. He read along and it was this gal. I guess she must have had family in these parts to make the paper. I didn't read the article. .

I'm getting a "Three's Company" DVD tomorrow, and I'll post some screencaps of Shell Kepler as Luann in "Honest Jack Tripper."

That is so sad. I too loved Amy Vining and never understood why the show never used her more - I was sorry to see the character phased out. :rip: Shell!!

I loved Shell as Amy Vining and was very sad to hear that she died. I didn't know about her health problems, but it's nice to know that she had devoted her life to giving to charities.

I used to love to watch her and John Stamos go at each other's throats when they were both on GH back in 1982. They played brother and sister and they were just hilarious!

It would have been nice for GH to include Shell in at least some minor storylines during her years at GH instead of using her as "filler".
