Some miscellaneous comments (please join me!):

I love the part when the Professor is in the water and the Skipper thinks he's gone crazy. It's hysterical!

I also love the "polyester derivative" joke ("Watch your language!")--that's priceless.

It seems kind of surprising that everyone, about to leave, gives in to the Howells' request for a "launching ceremony."

It also seems a bit strange that Ginger (not that she never works) stops working on the pancakes with Maryann when Maryann asks Gilligan to get the breadfruit and offers to get up and get the breadfruit herself. She was already sitting there working on the pancakes and Gilligan was just standing there doing nothing.

I think it was mean of the Skipper to throw the glue on Gilligan's back like that and ruin his shirt, especially since he has such a limited wardrobe on the island!

I find it annoying how Maryann does a 180 degree flip in her demeanor between the sap tree scene and the dinner scene. She totally changes her clothes and her attitude. When she giggles "Skipper!" when the Skipper merely finds his food stuck to his plate, she sounds and looks like a little church girl at the Sunday picnic, whereas she didn't seem like that at the sap trees. I'm surprised Gilligan didn't choke on his food. (oh, I forgot, it was inedible).

This is a fun episode, especially popular with non-GI fans. If you want to watch an episode with someone who knows little about GI but is willing to humor you, try this one out!

I know, and Mrs. Howell's face is priceless; she seems truely insulted!

I'm having trouble understanding what you're getting at...

Sorry it took so long to respond, I just remembered this thread. :p
This is probably my favorite episode in season one.:)

the MAG scene is classic.;)

and of course, the 'perfume scene'. I thought it was very odd behavior for the Professor; seriously, couldn't he have just asked? :D
^your opinion on this scene Im?

Besides the first ep I think this was the only one to actually show them on the beach ( the Christmas ep dosen't count since it was flashbacks ).

But as for the show.....

I always wondered, when they were trying to eat the pancakes and the syrup was starting to harden and they kept trying to pull the forks up to their mouths, how come the plates stayed on the table? Wouldn't they have been pulled up too? Try it sometime- put some glue on a paper plate or something and put a stick in the glue and let it start to dry and pick the stick up and the plate will come up too. I'm just being funny.

Another thing, why did the entire boat come apart at the end? I mean, weren't there any nails holding that thing together?

One of the small, but funny things about Gilligan's Island to me, is how at least once in every episode, Skipper looks into the camera. And when he does it in this ep, it's really over the top. It's not just a glance, he looks into it in a way that he really seems to be acknowleging the camera. It's when he has just saw Gilligan stuck to the boat. My other favorite time is in the ep about Watubi and Gilligan falls asleep on his shoulder.

I wish television was that dirty now!

I don't understand what you mean either.

Are you kidding? I would have done the same thing!!!!

Regarding some of your questions:

What I mean about Maryann is--watch the G/M scene at the sap trees, note M's clothes and behavior--then note her "giggly girl" attitude and outfit when she responds to Skipper at the dinner table. To my mind, at least, they're not of the same universe.

As for the Professor's perfume sniffing....yes, he did need to test the perfumes but perhaps not that way. A good excuse.
