Some days, I get on and it seems as if there is no less than 30 threads with new posts. Then there are days like this whole past week, that I hop on and I'm lucky if 2 threads have new posts!

C'mon guys, I got promoted, usually don't have much time to get on like I used to, but this week has been slow and I wanna talk!

Where have all the UM'ers gone?

Well, I've been watching my volume 13, so at least I have a good excuse, lol!

So, was the point of this post to express dissatisfaction that no one seems to be posting, or to tell us you got promoted?

Yes it seems to go in spurts on here (although lately its been very busy). It seems like Saturday's are dead I've noticed.

So to think of something to say I've been wondering about some missing persons cases profiled on UM. There have been a few with no update yet I can't find them listed on any missing persons website either. Does a family member or LE have to request they be listed on there? For instance Rogest Cain is still listed on doe network and he almost certainly wouldn't be alive right now even if he hadn't wandered off yet a few of the younger guys with psychological problems (their names escape me) aren't listed anywhere. Does that mean they were finally located or their family just hasn't thought to have them put on any of these missing person websites? Just thinking aloud I guess but would like to hear any other thoughts on this topic.

Congrats btw Kamy!

Actually one of the cases I was referring to was Oded Gordon. I had thought in the past I wasn't able to find anything on him but I did just come across his doe network page so I'll post the link for anyone interested.

How about Jim Kimble? I didn't seem him listed on any missing persons website. Does anyone know if he was ever found?

Call it the winter blahs. I have been trying hard to tend to my two favooorite obsessions. Maybe we need more new threads to get us going?

Kamy,

No offense but the show is off the air now. I know a lot of you keep watching the cases via Crystaldawn's DVDs but for some of us we taped the series or at least the segments we wanted to preserve while it was on "Lifetime". Back then you sometimes got two hours of UM each day and although very few of the segments were "new" to longtime viewers it did spark more conversation as it brought the cases that you just saw on television back into focus so to speak.

Speaking personally I haven't gone into my collection of UM videos for awhile now. I'm still a huge fan of the show but sitting down and watching segments that I can basically recite the "script of events" from isn't the most appealing way I can think of to spend my time. That being said I still like participating in a discussion from time to time on here and anticipate the show's return to SPIKE TV this fall.

None taken.

The point of the thread was to see what everyone had been up to since it doesn't look as it had been busy this week---there are usually 25+ looking when I hop on, but no one posting. The position I have now leaves little time to surf the net, so I was really happy when I got time to check the forum but there was nothing new to read, Justin. My last position, heck, I answered phones and surfed the net all I could stand :)

Oh those days.............

kamy, if you think it's dead during the day, you should try getting on at night, which is when I usually post. Used to be that quite a few posters posted at night, in fact, I would say just as many posts happened at night as did during the daytime. But recently, very little activity at night. I work the night shift and it's been getting boring lately.

but..........

new volumes of crystaldawn's dvd's always generate more discussion, so the slump shouldn't last long. I've got a bunch of stuff to say/ask about the latest volume, which should prompt some discussions, but haven't got around to it yet.

Well, the weird thing is, I usually post at night too, because that is usually when I am up, sometimes I am up during the day, but I am just more of a night person, I function better at night, etc, so that is more often than not when I post. However I have plenty of posts, even recently that it seems no one was interested in responding to, so it kind of cuts both ways.

kamy, I wouldn't worry too much about the occasional lack of posting: everyone goes through periods where they are busier than other times. Starting Monday, I am training some new auditors for at least a week, and won't be posting as much during that time.

It's like I got hit with a sledgehammer of tests and research papers. Still when I get on I look at the threads and might not want to read or post. Threads that don't spark my interest at the time.

Can you imagine what it's going to be like once the new episodes start? EVERYONE is going to be on here giving their opinion of the new host and platform of the show for at least a month. EVERYONE is going to offer their opinion about every segment and update.

This isn't a bad thing. I just hope it doesn't turn into the American Idol message boards and communities, except related to UM. "Segments that were shown, segments I want to see, segments I probably will see."

Hard to say. This board was around when Lifetime was cranking out the "new" segments but there wasn't a whole lot of discussion about them at the time. On the other hand, the board was still fairly new in those days and I don't think there were as many members then. I don't think I discovered this board until 2002 or so.

I wonder if the boards will be flooded by "new" fans who have no clue what the original UM was, but got hooked by the new series.

I've been meaning to say this for awhile, but I guess now is as good as a time as any. I feel like this board is undergoing a renaissance. There are quite a few posters here who have a vast knowledge base and can recite the details of just about every case. I find this board to collectively be a great resource for fans and for info on UM. Compared to other UM boards (and there aren't many), this is really the best, bar none. Go check out the IMDB board some time and I think you'll have a renewed appreciation for this place.

I just came back to the board after spending about 10 months off in never-never land......haha ;)

I've been busy with work and trying to clean house (blahhhh I hate chores). But even with no new episodes being produced- at the moment?- and no access to episodes except through Crystaldawn's volumes, believe me, I am not going anywhere. I was gone for a long time from the board, about three years, but I came back and plan to stick around for awhile.

I go in spurts with this board. I like to see all of the posts but in the winter I'm more limited by work and other commitments, plus at my job I don't have as much free internet time as I used too. I suppose that is true for most people.

I do think this place has been busier in the last few months and that is great, especially considering the show hasn't been on the air for so long. This place is like the weather in Minnesota: if you don't like it, wait 20 minutes and something will change...

I bet we will see a big upswing in activity when Spike starts the show again. I suppose we'll have to put up with all of the dumb newbies. :D

Actually, it's great to see my favorite show ever is still popular, at least to some of us!

Aw come on Todd, I like all the newbies....:D

Its still great how active this board is considering this show isn't currently airing and it keeps being even more active with new members joining every week. I noticed someone from one of the other boards make a snide comment a few months back to the effect of "I can't believe the UM board is one of the most popular boards on here". No doubt someone with lousy taste.

you just described Michigan as well.

I used to work at a grocery store, and we sold this lottery ticket called "Michigan Weather". On the ticket, there were 5 days with 5 weather forecasts: if you got the same forecast for 3 consecutive days, you win. Pretty funny jab on our horrid weather. Winter weather advisory tonight :(

I'm here, just not like I used to be... Doing the 8 to 5 (or later) thing, and then I was silly and took on a long-distance relationship... so weekends, I'm usually on the road instead of on the computer. :D

But UM still rules. Just thought I'd throw that out there. :)

P.S. And NO, the long-distance boyfriend is not Dislimb! :) He kept spurning my advances, so I had to move on... ;)

Yup, UM still rocks. Just got distracted for a while by other obsession (yay, there's another message board to update!) and pulling my hair out, doing tons'o script revisions. And my partner came back from a 2 week long bizness trip.

And found out that Maily Nurmi, the actress featured on my avatar passed away 11 days ago. :(
