Just look at the ratings for The Big Bang Theory last night. It got over 8 million viewers for a repeat ! That means it probably would have got 10-12 million for a new episode. It also beat How I Met Your Mother by over 800,000 viewers and beat Rules of Engagement easily in the 18-49 demo. These numbers are incredible for a repeat. Most sitcoms don't even do 8 million viewers for a new episode. This show is sizzling hot. Take a look :
The Big Bang Theory (Viewers: #3, 8.16 million; A18-49: #3, 3.2/ 8)
How I Met Your Mother (Viewers: #4, 7.34 million; A18-49: #3, 2.7/ 7)
Rules of Engagement (Viewers: #2, 8.52 million; A18-49: #3, 2.7/ 6)
I think this ensures that this show will be back, and gives us lots of hope that the show will do well when it returns. It easily would have done 10-12 million viewers for a new episode, which would certify it as a hit.

What's up with that? Lately it's only been getting around 6-7 million for a repeat, all of a sudden it jumps up to more than 8 million? That's great news, especially when the shows already far into its second cycle of repeats. I didn't watch it, but I guess someone did.
Was there that little competition? I know Dancing with the Stars is gone . . . anyone know how Dance War is doing instead? It must not be doing too well if BBT is up by that much.

No, it was up against all new stuff on the other networks. Dance Wars on ABC, American Gladiators on NBC, and Prison Break on FOX.
I said a long time ago, once Dancing With The Stars leaves the time slot, The Big Bang Theory would get 10-12 million viewers. If last night's show was a new show it would have easily done 10-12 million instead of the 8 million. I think it is getting new viewers for the repeats from word of mouth. Once the strike ends this show will be a certified hit if it keeps getting these ratings. This show is on a roll even in repeats.

One thing that might not help is next week is the last scheduled repeat. It won't be back at the earliest until March 17, if it does return for repeats.

I don't think that is a problem for CBS sitcoms. Rules of Engagement only had a 6 week run last season, and its ratings are exactly the same this season after being off for months and months. To me, this repeat ratings just shows me how much people like this show. If you go on various forums and blogs people that watch this show absolutely love it. I think most of them will be back. It is just that good.

Look at the final ratings compared to How I Met Your Mother courtesy of Pavan :
8:30PM BIG BANG THEORY, THE-REPEAT 5.1/8, 8.07, 3.2/8, 3.8/9
8:00PM HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER-REPEAT 4.6/7, 7.13, 2.6/7, 3.2/8
It beat HIMYM by 940,000 viewers and killed it in the demos. This is really some feat for this show even if it was for a repeat. This show is really catching on. Let's hope for some new episodes soon.:)

I wouldn't be surprised if How I Met Your Mother is gone b next season.
I'm surprised Dance Wars isn't doing better than 10 million. I'll bet ABC was hoping for a lot more . . . similar to DWTS numbers. But, that's probably the biggest reason for the high repeat numbers for BBT.
