Did I miss a few episodes?

I was having a discussion last month with some colleagues and the subject of GI came up. Someone said that both Ginger and Maryann were competing for the Professor on the show. I never saw anything like that and I thought I knew all 98 episodes! The only thing REMOTELY like that was the comment Maryann made in "Mine Hero" that she was going to check on Gilligan's metal collection because the Professor "asked her to" (she seemed a little proud that he asked her). Otherwise, the GI I've watched all these years has been a different show! Does anyone have any input on this?

Yeah... I don't really see this either. Now, if the show was made today, I can see something like that formulating, to add a bit of drama. However, there never seemed to be anything like that unless you count Duke Williams.
